there's truth to his words, but kyle can't admit it. they don't want to. they can't be some accessory to a murder they had no hand in. but the way hunter emmons spoke— with such assertiveness and certainty— they're beginning to think he could make it possible if he wanted. they know that they're not innocent in all of this, however shockingly to anyone but themselves, they've never killed anyone. they're not capable. all they do is supply and demand; an artificial high for anyone who's willing to pay. that's their niche— their market. and hunter's is apparently cornering them in his car to make sure theres an air tight correspondence. he's told them times before that he's not capable either— something along the lines of "i'd be fucking stupid to try that" or "you really think i'd do something to hurt her?"— but with the way that the rumour mill churns in a town as small as cresthill, they're unsure. he's smart. of course he is. he's got an iron clad defence right behind him. but, hunter emmons seemingly knows everything about everyone, and that scares them.
