One last meme. This meme takes another quote used in digital cultures and mixes it when a controversial cricket moment. Apologies now for the profanity, but I think this meme captures digital culture very well

As mentioned in the document 'Collins copyright used to dampen re-imagination- it states that "Creativity and Innovation technologies simultaneously make it easier than ever to create and distribute". This can be seen in the meme above as Facebook has created Messenger with is an easy way for people to communicate. The creator or this meme has taken the messenger format and combined it with a current trend in digital culture of taking the start of something and then ending it with a picture sent to that person. So this meme uses the cricketing great Richie Benaud and taking one of his famous lines "Marvellous shot" and fused it to create this meme. This is one of my personal favourites. This meme combines a very popular image that is used for other memes, in the little kid fisting pumping. Also, a current trend is to take photos that were used for memes and caption it as above. Virat Kolhi was once again used because he was involved at the time the meme was made as he celebrated a wicket, or a win, without contributing to the game. Credit- The Cricket Memes on Facebook

This would have to be one of the most common current trend of digital culture to be used in a meme. Glenn Maxwell got out first ball for a duck as he ran down the pitch and left the ball which then hit the stumps. How it fits into digital culture is that the text messages about explain that couples want their significant other to come over, but they are have plans. Until they say 'my parents aren't home' which means they drop everything and rush over. The way the creator of this combined the two was so clever and makes people laugh. This meme combines an image of a popular movie and putting Indian captain Virat Kolhi face into it. Kolhi wasn’t in the team for the last game against Australia, therefore people on the internet decided to make fun of Kolhi by creating this. Before undertaking this project, I didn't realise how much cricket content can be used to create memes based on contemporary digital culture. It's eye opening and I'll always appreciate memes differently now

Now this meme doesn't quite incorporate any trends of digital culture, but it does provide the audience with a laugh. Surrounding that particular BBL season was some controversy as Chris Gayle tried to hit on the female reporter Mel McLaughlin, and the wasnt well received by the audience. That same season, a poor seagull was struck with a cricket ball with one of the fielders picking it up and safely removing it from the field. This meme shows how to correctly pick up a bird and how not too. I guess you could say there is a trend in the meme as 'how to and how not to' memes were quite popular.

Oh Kolhi, you poser 😂 this particular meme mixes the trend of how university students hate group work, and they do majority of the work and still get good grades. In this instance, Kolhi only made a score of 9 runs in the whole test, and did nothing in the field. Yet when India won, he took a stump (which is what players do to celebrate a win sometimes). This meme is so funny because it combined two current trends into one funny meme

Due to how funny I think memes are, I decided to create my own. Adam Zampa of the Melbourne Stars got hit in the face with the ball, but actually ran out the batsmen in amazing circumstances. I found this photo and added a funny caption to it, which I then submitted to The Cricket Memes on Facebook, where the photo received 2.1K likes. I wanted to become apart of the digital culture of memes, therefore I did. I feel it's important to note that in a reading by Kristina Busse and Shannon Farley called "Remixing the Remix", the that it states that creating memes such as this doesn't go against any copyright or plagiarism laws as it's an original concept.
