Youngest Executed  This Day In History 

On this day in 1944, George Stinney Jr was executed by electric chair at the age of 14 in South Carolina. George was the youngest executed in 20th century America. Sadly enough in 2014, George Stinney Jr’s conviction was overturned. 

In 1944 in the black side of Acolu, South Carolina. 11 year old Betty Binnicker and 8 year old Mary Thames were cycling and collecting flowers and rode past the Stinney household. When the girls never returned home a search party was underway, but their bodies were found the next morning. 

At trial, of an all white jury, it took 10 minutes to find him guilty and sentenced George Stinney Jr to death
