We’ve already deduced the location and the time of this: BBC building, at around 8:35 in the morning.

But where does this put us timeline wise?

Well, according to the Regents Street Twitter, those flags are not there any more. This was taken on the 19th of Feb:

So now we have evidence that not only are these original images, but they’re not current, which points towards what I originally thought - setlock took these photos in advance. The Union flags were up in June or July during 2016 to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. 

Since it’s kind of hard to see, here’s another shot taken from the Regents street twitter on the 29th of January (lol):

The flags aren’t there. I don’t know how anyone can possibly believe that these Twitters aren’t legit, because this points to meticulous planning at least one year in advance. 

So, where else do we see those flags? Quite notably during TLD:

Followed by this, no less:

Y’know, hinting that T6T is a lie- and then we have Sherlock referencing the union flags possibly hinting towards towards TLD but I suspect it’s hinting towards the beginning of ‘s4′ content for the Twitters. Which means we’re getting somewhere. Which means there’s a story, here.

It’s not a trick, it’s a plan.

DURING Setlock!  Now isn’t that the coincidence.

So to sum up the pictures were taken from the 7th floor balcony of the BBC Broadcasting House during the same time they were filming setlock.  It happened in the morning and it could not have been done by someone visiting because tours are not currently being given. 

Due to timing chances are raised that of the people running the Twitter accounts, not only are they a BBC employee but they did this intentionally and during Setlock.  This is really — Either a BBC employee is a very dedicated fan or this is a setup.

Makes sense, really. We know Mark went to Poland a year ago, right around February (for Jim’s account), which only proves the idea that they’ve been taking images in order to set this whole thing up for a while.

The next time I see the “it wasn’t canon argument,” I’m going to run screaming at you with copies of the Criminal Law Amendment Act of 1885 and news articles detailing the treatment of convicted homosexuals in 19th Century England, and then continue screaming until you understand exactly what would have happened to Arthur Conan Doyle had he explicitly written Sherlock Holmes and John Watson as gay lovers.

So, I wrote this a bit cheekily last night, but now I want to expand on it with some actual facts.  I see a lot of people saying, “Oh, back in the 19th century, Sherlock and John couldn’t openly be together.” And that’s true, but what’s at the heart of that sentiment is this one, “Arthur Conan Doyle couldn’t have written them openly together, because the general public would assume he was encouraging homosexuality, perhaps was even homosexual himself, and that would have been dangerous.” Here’s why.

In 1885, the British Parliament enacted section 11 of the he Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885, known as the Labouchere Amendment which prohibited gross indecency between males. It thus became possible to prosecute homosexuals for engaging in sexual acts where buggery or attempted buggery could not be proven. Note that they didn’t have to actually catch you in the act, they just had to suspect that you did it. During this time period, many notable men were prosecuted with disastrous results; Lord Arthur Chilton committed suicide after being implicated in Boulton and Park trial involving two transvestites and Oscar Wilde was sentenced to prison and hard labour after being found guilty.

Was there still a homosexual culture in England at the time? Yes, it was around this time that the movement began to flourish, with clandestine gatherings preceding the opening of the first gay pub, The Cave of the Golden Calf in 1912. There was even the beginnings of gay erotica and publishing, but it was still very much subversive and not openly distributed among the public.

The opposite of who Arthur Conan Doyle was; Sherlock Holmes increased subscriptions to The Strand magazine by 30,000. While Oscar Wilde, if not embraced, accepted, the consequences of his actions, Arthur Conan Doyle was not in a position to do that. He received a knighthood in 1902, he was involved in political campaigns and other civic work throughout his lifetime, and he had 5 children to support. He was not in a position to risk what an accusation of buggery would bring.

So, when you look at the situation, Arthur Conan Doyle was unable to go any farther than he had with Holmes and Watson in his original stories. Even if he wanted to. Even if he tried to fill it with as much subtext as possible, he would always have to be mindful of what would happen if he went to far.

This is why this argument bothers me so much. Were Sherlock Holmes in John Watson explicitly in a romantic relationship in the original stories? No, and no one is arguing that they were. Are we intended to imply, with the clues that were safe to include given the environment at the time, that it’s a possibility? That’s up to you to decide. But demanding that the only way a relationship could be legitimate is if it had been clearly stated by Arthur Conan Doyle is frustrating because it’s imposing today’s standards on a time period where they do not fit.

You can go into the BBC building, partially even for free. You can also take a tour, which will lead you through parts of the building. I’ve never taken it, so I can’t say whether this shot could’ve been taken on the tour.

I’m fairly certain (although don’t take my word for it) that you can’t access a level that high with windows looking out onto Regent Street for free. So one would need to take the tour to figure out whether it might’ve been taken whilst on it.

so I always thought the use of the word ‘awesome’ to be odd within s4. Like, it’s sort of an Americanism and I wouldn’t really expect someone like Sherlock to use it, and the fact that Jim - who I also wouldn’t really expect to use it - says it too suggests to me that someone with an American perspective is perhaps manipulating the story and allowing specific colloquialism to enter into it unbidden. 

There’s a theory that Mary is American, right? It’s just a thought I had, not sure if it needs expanding on

AHHH!! That’s why ‘awesome’ seemed to out of place to me. It’s definitely an Americanism. Language is so important. I love that this is an aspect of things that make S4 seem so off.

And the difference between cell phone and maybe telephone has been a clue in the episode of Baskerville Hound,in which Sherlock said “a childhood trauma masked by an invented memory,BORING” to himself.emm…things looks like chained.If it is a plan or game planned long-term by Moffatiss,what would they want to tell us?Is it possible that political things is involved?cuz the Henry V speech(maybe the background of the speech should be considered?) and sherlock’s analyse of Culverton Smith,or even what Culverton said in hospital made me feel very wired. Okay, I THOUGHT “awesome” was so weird in this season. I have never heard Sherlock ever use it even when he’s being snarky. I think the closest to an Americanism he’s ever used was “LATERS!” and that was in snark.

Plus Mary has ties to the CIA as well. I’m not saying that Mary is telling the story, but if it is an unreliable narration being told by JOHN (especially in TFP), what if he picked up the colloquialism from Mary when they were together, and applied that word to Moriarty BECAUSE he knows they’re linked? Just a thought, but yeah, the “awesome” still threw me for a loop.

John was exposed to Eurus for several weeks prior to her shooting him at the end of TLD. Euros moved in on John in T6T. He was her target to get to Sherlock. When the seduction didn’t work, as John rejected an affair, she changed tactics and targeted his psychological treatment. Makes sense that a bit of ‘Manchurian Candidate’ mind manipulation was occurring.

I like the theory but here’s the thing, correct me if I’m wrong, yes John did meet E a couple of days prior, weeks might be a bit of a stretch before the end of TST. I don’t know if they met often but John admited to only texing Eurus as E and nothing more. He himself confirmed this at the end of TLD. Also John met Eurus as a psychiatrist only once at the beginning of TLD, that was his first appointment with E. this was included in the explaination as to how Sherlock found him.

My theory as to why Eurus approached John during the bus scence is to observe John and analyze what makes him soo interesting to Sherlock. Why did Sherlock pick John to be part of his life. she then used this information to mimic John when she approached Sherlock as Faith notice that when Sherlock saw Faith he remembered John. After baiting Sherlock with the Culveton case she then approach John to try to manipulate and mind control him but was interupted by Mrs. Hudson. but maybe she was able to get into his psyche that’s the reason for John’s explosive rage both in TST and TLD. But the mind control is not complete becuase she cannot completely control John. Just my two cents.

We know John met Eurus at least twice as E. The second time at the bus stop when he had sent the text ending it, we see E sitting waiting for him. Given that we know Eurus can control people in Sherrinford after spending time just talking to them alone, we can presume E/Eurus does not need long exposure to a subject. I presumed that John talked to E about ending their texting relationship at the bus stop that day. His redirected, misplaced, anger at Sherlock could have been a result of this time. It may have been enough to start manipulating John’s psyche. Well the writers gave us far more implausible leaps in s4, so I think we can go with this. Meeting with Eurus as his therapist would have been ideal for her to further this plan, even if it was only the first session. They were alone together in a room and Eurus doesn’t need a great deal of time to use this skill. I agree with you that her indoctrination may not have been as strong as she would have liked, and resulted in John’s love for Sherlock being strong enough to break through during the pre hug interaction in 221B. John’s breakdown following his catharsis was typical of a person who has finally overcome their inner traumas in one huge moment of self revelation.
