God, it was too early for this.
Neah almost broke his neck snapping his gaze towards his pouting brother, a startled expression on his face as his hand stopped running itself through his hair. Had he,,, heard his brother correctly? Did he just say what he thought he said??
“What’d you say?” he spoke – no. rather he whispered in disbelief. Surprised by his appearance, Mana stopped playing with his hair and turned towards his younger brother. He held a finger to his lips to suppress the bubbling laughter in his throat; Neah’s face looked like a gaping fish, it was hilarious!
“Oh! Good morning, brother. Did you sleep well?” Mana smiled, disregarding the disgruntled expression of his sibling. Neah, afterall, had just woken up; his face always looks grumpy whenever he wakes up.
“Yeah, I slept well I guess,” Neah mumbled absent-mindedly, taking a seat across from his brother at the dining table as Mana poured him a warm cup of coffee. He quietly thanked the elder, blankly staring at the bubbles on the dark liquid’s surface before his mind kicked in and redirected his head to more pressing matters.
“No wait- don’t push this on me now! What did you just say?!” Mana blinked, tilting his head in question. Now he was acting weird.
“…. Did you… sleep well…?”
“Before that, Mana!” Neah glared at him, convinced that the noirette was just playing with him now. Mana, on the other hand, was just really really confused by his brother’s weird behaviour. None the less, he tried to humour him anyways.
Humming, Mana put a finger on his chin in thought.
“Something about your hair, was it?” Neah grumbled, finally lifting the cup of coffee to his lips as he narrowed his eyes at Mana. Please let not what I heard be true, he thought to himself just as Mana seemed to regain his memory, eyes sparkling as he exclaimed.
“Oh! That!” Mana laughed in mirth, amused that his brother was so worked up over what he said.
“I think I’m gonna cut my hair short today!” He hummed happily, a smile on his face as he played with his hair. Neah all but choked on his drink, sputtering and coughing like a dying car as he tried to regain his breath – meanwhile, Mana jumped over his sudden action, furrowing his brows in concern at his brother’s behaviour.
“Neah? Are you alright? I think you might be sick-“
“Sick?!” Neah all but cried out, staring at the man with a mixture of shock and bewilderment on his face.
“If anything, you’re the one who might be sick, Mana!” Neah shuddered, imagining his brother with hair as short as his - maybe even shorter!!! No no nonononono- this couldn’t be happening!
“Why are you cutting your hair anyways!! It’s perfectly fine as it is!!” Mana blinked, surprised at the outburst and a little flustered as he scrambled his brain for an answer. Truth be told, he only wanted to do it out of,, well,, impulse.
“Ah- well- See- the thing is- I thought, maybe, perhaps, it’d be easier to take care of if it was… yknow… shorter,” He averted his gaze, laughing nervously as his hand continued to play with his dark hair.
“I mean, you never really seem to bother with your hair, brother. And long hair gets a little bothersome, especially when it gets in my eyes,” Neah stared at him, incredulous, and Mana grew nervous under his brother’s stare. He fidgeted slightly in his seat, waiting for Neah to say anything. After a long stretch of silence, the boy finally did- and it wasn’t the answer Mana expected.
“I said no! Your hair’s too nice to be cut short, Mana!” Neah exclaimed, pushing the chair back with so much force that it fell back towards the floor – but Neah didn’t care. At this moment, he was glaring at his brother with determination, a plan already forming in his head that he needed to execute right this moment.
“If your hair’s bothering your eyesight, then we’ll just get you lots and lots of hair pins! Bobby pins! Whatever those things are called!” Mana tried to stop his younger brother, watching as he almost knocks his coffee over in an attempt to move towards their shared room.
“Wait- where are you going?!”
“Out!” Neah called back to his brother’s question, already grabbing at his coat, hat, and the little amount of money they had left before quickly passing by the kitchen, into the living room and onto the foyer. Mana ran after him, bewilderment on his face as he watched Neah struggle to put his shoes on in his haste.
“I’ll come back soon- don’t you dare cut your hair, Mana!” Neah threw him a quick glare, not even pausing to let the male speak before he was out the door and into the streets. Mana could only stare as the door slammed shut, laughing quietly to himself when his brain finally managed to process the fast-moving event.
He thought Neah would agree with the idea, but it seems like his younger brother has other plans in mind.

Oh- and Mana best be prepared to have at least 50 or so hair accessories he can use to hold or tie his hair back /laughs
