Mychael is a siren that's unable to use a glamor and stumbles upon an overboard stowaway, reader.

They're incredibly untrusting as they are nursed back to health by him but they aren't hostile.

At some point, being together and having that slow burn, Mychael finally learns how to perform a glamor

Reader is tricked by another siren and nearly becomes fish chow but Mychael manages to save them by killing the other siren

Reader is horrified and unsure of what to think, angst ensues

Mychael, in a desperate attempt for them to look at him again, uses his glamor to try and make them see him as desirable, but they just see *him* which is what pushes him to a place he hadn't thought possible

Reader is now stuck with bro FOREVER as he is not letting go now

this made me think of the thing where kittens have ears on side of head like <('w')> while adult cats have ^^ ears, her antennas probably work like that too. I have this idea in my head that they would clack the ball-end of their antennas together as part of talking and expressing, basically the same as making various faces like sad, angry etc

As a kid the antennas will be too short and too spaced apart to clack together dfkbjdfkdfskdsk something something baby learning to speak but also learning to clack antennas
