♰ - He regarded the summoner with a gentle smile. Her nervousness was endearing, though it hadn’t been his aim to fluster her so.

“If you will recall our first meeting, we spoke of my predecessor’s proposal.” A cynical chuckle followed, arms folding in disapproval. How silly a notion, arranged marriages in the Spira of today. “Upon my appointment as praetor, some of the church elders suggested I extend the same offer. A union with the high summoner would have been... fortuitous for the church.”

The idea had flitted through mind more than once, though he was never inclined to take genuine action. Still, Yuna possessed a refined elegance and an intriguing aura; he would have been daft not to entertain the thought.

“I assure you, Lady Yuna, it was but idle musing on my part.”

ϟ  - “What I’m on about is all these interviews I don’t wanna do. But Spira’s biggest airship isn’t about to build itself. Do me a favor, Gramps, and keep an eye out for some good talent, would you?”

“What’cha need to interview ‘em for? Just make ‘em work on somethin’ and see how they do. They fail, kick their asses out. They pass, hire ‘em on.” Seemed simple enough to Cid.

ϟ - “And risk spillin’ all our secrets? No can do, man. We got Yevon boys tryin’ to sabotage us, thieves goin’ out to dig and stealing our parts. Ya gotta get a feel for ‘em first, test their loyalty.”

The influx of applicants had been mostly decent workers, but a handful of radicals still existed in Spira, reluctant to let the old ways of Yevon die. Those were the kinds of fools that set bomb fragments off inside the temple; thankfully the Faction had enough manpower to quell that catastrophe.

“Unless of course you wanna take ‘em on yourself, but the rule around here is ‘Your Apprentice, Your Damages.’“

☠} “Continue to mock us if you wish, but like the rest of the so-called “heroes” of the past, you fail to accept the truth. Our youth, the very future of Spira itself, need to be guided by a legend. Of the man who sought death but never found it, and the man who found it by accident, whom might Spira deem more fitting?”

"I thought I might stop by and see how the remnants of the Crusaders were holding up, since there were apparently no senior officers to take command.”

☠} "We do tend to take our casualties fairly seriously here. Wouldn’t want anyone’s age to become a liability.”

Gippal, I am so sorry...I don't know how to tell you this but Rikku has died rather suddenly. She got into a fight she just couldn't win, the bandits overtook her.

ϟ} "That's a good one, lady. Cid's Girl defeated Sin and Vegnagun and managed to keep her hair up in that big mess the whole time. You expect me to believe she got killed by bandits?"

When the stranger's face did not betray the words she spoke, a spark of realization could be seen in Gippal's emerald eye. He wondered how this person would have known to come to him any other way. Not many outside of his closest friends knew about his feelings for RIkku. Could it be that she sent them herself, with her own dying words? He shook the thought from his mind; it was more likely that someone was trying to play a sick joke on the two of them.

"Rikku would never be that careless."

☠} "Forgive my tactlessness, Sir Auron, but I find it somewhat ironic that we would meet at the headquarters of the Youth League.”
