This girl is very, very happy. Saw Kit in R+J on Friday and Darren in Maybe Happy Ending last night, and I successfully stage doored both nights! During my Little Shop/Sweeney Todd trip in February, Darren didn’t come out and Joe didn’t stick around to sign (which is absolutely fine—they do not have to), so I felt like I had bad luck.

It took Darren nearly an hour to come out, and I was really starting to doubt if he would, but he did and I got my first ever autograph from him in person (I’ve got others that I got from his promo/fundraising) and I had an actual conversation with him. I love him so much, and appreciate him. He is just one of the kindest human beings. I’ve also now seen him three times in the last year!?! What is life??

R+J stage door was a lot more hectic. A lot younger audience with more people trying to get autographs from the cast (especially Kit and Rachel!) They both did great though and signed a lot. I also was able to get out to the stage door much faster from my seats for MHE, so being at the front of the fence helped a lot. More people at R+J got up during bows and the BCEFA speech, and I got stuck in the middle of a row with people on both sides of me who just kept sitting and not getting up. When I got outside, I was in the third row of people, so could only hold my Playbill up and hope they’d take it and sign, which Kit and Rachel did! 🙂 Since Rachel was last out, people were leaving as she signed, so I was able to get a bit closer and actually tell her thank you and make eye contact. Not sure Kit ever saw the person the arm belonged to. 😆

Both shows were so good! Kit was fantastic (and wow does he have to be exhausted from that show—the physical toll it must take!), and Rachel’s voice was AMAZING (her acting, too, but that voice!!). R+J is a really interesting adaption. It’s so different but is also following the original script, which is sort of just amazing to see? MHE though? That wins as favorite show for me, and I don’t think just because of Darren (certainly doesn’t hurt). I also really love a musical more than a play, and my Shakespearian is pretty bad. Darren and the rest of the cast were so good! His singing was beautiful and acting was outstanding. The stage design was so cool and I now understand Darren describing it as a “spectacle.” It was amazing. I need the reviews and word of mouth to boost its ticket sales so this show can stick around!
