Day 4 of learning to draw and color hair- I think I found a way of shading that I like! I had an (obvious) epiphany that I could just shade hair the same way I shade fur, and that made straight hair make way more sense for me. I also really enjoyed drawing and shading the braids. I enjoy the rendering part way more than the drawing part lol

"Second sea" - a gouache painting

Best part of making this was showing it to my father who said "Sea!" with the most flabbergasted expression on his face. Like yeah dude ikr?? This rules!

Day 3 of learning to draw and color hair! I think I've made a big improvement compared to when I first started - now I just need to keep practicing.

Day 1 and Day 2 of learning to render hair! I've learned that I have poor hair shaping skills, and that's affecting my rendering skills. I was hoping to use the same base so it's easier to see my skills progressing, but I think it might be better if I do some more practice and then draw a better base. Next I plan to draw some anime wigs I found on Pinterest so I can get my hair shaping skills down.

And then draw more Miku. Because I love Miku. (seriously she's the one thing keeping me from simultaneously being burnt out and having art block send help)

Progress update! This is how far I've come in 2 weeks. It's not a completely fair comparison because the one on the left is a full body that took me a few days while the one on the right took a few hours, but the eyes look SO much better. I've been focusing on facial proportions and eyes, now I plan to move onto the mouth (there's a reason I didn't draw it in my latest, lol) and hair. ESPECIALLY hair - I still don't understand how to draw it even though I've watched several different YT tutorials, and I think my lack of skill in that area is really apparent. Hopefully I can figure it out in the next two weeks lol
