Deck enclosure

I've had the opportunity to work with a client who wants to make an enclosure over their deck. It's going to be attached to the house to create an extension of their interior space.

wall framing details

I have been ghosted by 2 manufacturers 🙃

One hasn't responded to my emails about a quote, for more than a month. The other completely ignored me when I said I didn't have a permit yet. To be fair both companies use aluminum framing but one was willing to do the permit application. Also, I learned that there's more restrictions our municipality when working with aluminum as a structural material. From what I've been told, you need engineer approved drawings (which these companies should have if they specialize in building with this material??)

Anywayys... I now need to figure out how to achieve something similar with wood framing so I can get a permit.... I'm learning that its a LOT 😅

DUMB & DUMBER

screenprinted shirts for me and my friend.

we were on site trying to reach this high spot but the ground wasn't even. we spent a bit moving the ladder back and forth, left and right. At the end we didn't even use the ladder to get that spot 🤣 we just attached our brush to a pole.

exploration of the reception & waiting area spaces.

attended my first design conference today!

it was organized by industrial design students at Carleton University and there were a lot of indistry guests.

Loved learning about topics industrial designers look at 🧡

Oh and I have to share this ideation tool! They called it Journey Mapping.

it's great for the early design phase.

We broke up into teams and worked on this activity. I'll share the board we created.

Our given scenario was "as a busy student, I want to quickly buy a coffee on my way to class"

Furniture System Layouts

An assignment for our Materials & Products class. This is linked to our studio project but focuses on the products and materials to be used in the space.

The furniture systems are products from Steelcase.

we had presentations yesterday for our preliminary plans and concept.

Our assignment is a student design competition by Steelcase. <- I linked the website if you want to look into it further.

Client: Startup beauty cosmetic company named NEXT.

Location: 4 Columbus Circle, New York

Space: 7th & 8th floor approx. 15,000 sq.ft.

These are just 6 pages from the full presentation. They look at concept, space details, process work, and rendered floorplans (preliminary).
