an update
I seem to find myself in a similar position that I was in only a couple of years ago--the man I love moves away in the spring.
It’s a little different this time, I guess. Two years ago wasn’t much of a romantic or sexual relationship. This year is. Two years ago, I knew when I met him that he’d be leaving eventually. This year, I only found out a couple weeks ago. Two years ago, visiting one another was an empty promise. This year, I can feasibly see him in the summer before the flame fades.
Suppose it’s time to prepare for that inevitable heartache.
Very accurate.

8yo: “Who IS this guy?“
Me: "This is Justin Timberlake."
8yo, unimpressed: "What’s he do?"
Wife: "He’s a singer."
8yo: "He’s not a football player?"
Me: "No."
