Have you changed your diet with ceramic braces? I fear staining.

Nope - I didn’t change my diet at all. They did stain a bit every month, but I didn’t really care.

My diet doesn't involve too many staining drinks or foods. I mainly drink hot water and herbal tea. I might have a cup of coffee once a day. Curries are very rare and I never drink soda. I also rinse my mouth and drink hot water after every meal if I have the chance. As a result, I would say my staining was minimal?

It’s not actually the ceramic bracket gets stained, it’s the elastic ligature that keeps the bracket in place that will get discolored if you pick a color like clear, white, or light blue. I wore clear ligatures for my two years and they did get yellow around the time when I was due for my next appointment.

Don’t worry about staining too much. :) Teeth are a bone color anyways.

Debonding is seriously the worst. Ew. So horrible. I hate it. I’m so glad it’s over.

Omg. Visits without the dedicated assistant are the worst. :( I got my back brackets taken off! Retainers in two-ish weeks?!

Twenty-fourth visit

Not getting them off in April. :( Earliest will be May. My bracket broke off again in the middle of the month - didn't bother to make a post about it since it happens so often. The assistant just polished off the cement. It feels so smooth. I’m not supposed to be wearing elastics this month to see how things stay.

Eighteenth Visit

This visit was the first one where I'll say I considered it a negative visit. :(

The orthodontist's assistant was out today, and there was a temporary one in their place. The temporary one jabbed at my mouth while attempting to take off the elastic ties as if she had never done it before.

Then. Two brackets came off during the appointment. One was on my front left tooth, and the other on my bottom right tooth. Had to sand off and re-apply those. All in all, not a fun visit.

Same bracket broke for the SEVENTH time.

Wow. I just went to brush my teeth and noticed it had already broken off again, five days after getting reapplied.

This is ridiculous. I haven't been eating any hard foods at all these past five days. I hate bracket reapplication. Mainly the sanding off the glue. *shudder* Uncomfortable.

I'm not sure when it happened this time, I was just flossing and noticed it had already been broken off but it's still sitting in place.

I loathe the reapplication of brackets - filing off the glue is so gross and uncomfortable.

Sixteenth Visit

I got a wire that has a lot of nickel in it for my bottom teeth due to the fact my right cuspid isn't moving, hopefully I won't get an allergic reaction to the nickel. No elastics to wear this month.

Thanks for answering! Happy to know in not the only one with paranoia dealing with retention. My ortho and I have discussed my fear with my k9's & bicuspids moving up again and on my last appointment (about 2 weeks ago) he told me he was actually moving them further up and my lifting my lowers. I freaked out thinking he clearly didn't understand, but over the 2 wks wearing box elastics I see why he did what he did, my teeth basically meet perfectly, guess I really should trust him. Can't wait!

I have ceramic braces too so I looked through your chrono of pictures of your teeth- WOW!! what a change! braces are magic haha I've got mine on for 18 months for deep bite and crowding 😁
