A calm port visit! And while the other snipers and watch standers were still on the battleship finishing their reports, the over-achiever had completed her paperwork yesterday in order to have more time to explore the island today! Not of a high enough rank quite yet to be comfortable wandering around out of uniform and in civilian attire, the young Marine was still in uniform with her rifle while she wandered the streets, curious copper eyes upon the new faces of strangers and through the windows of shops.
Towards the end of the market with kiosks, Katey took great pleasure in examining the goods that folks were selling - though, she didn’t have much money on her to buy anything. Nope, the simple pleasure of looking at the goods was enough for her. Perhaps a bit too good; in her haste to observe all that there was to see, wide eyes darting here and there and not paying attention to what was directly in front of her, she knocked into a young man and his bag.
Seeing his valuables spill onto the ground, Katey gave a great embarrassed gasp and dropped to her knees immediately, swinging her rifle safely to her back while frantic hands were wrung, wondering if she should help him pick up his things or if he wouldn’t want a stranger touching his goods. “I am so sorry, sir! I wasn’t payin’ attention! Do you want help pickin’ it all up? I don’t wanna touch yer things if’in you don’t want strangers touchin’ ‘em!”
Upset was one way to describe what he was feeling because accidents happened. It was because it had already been a bit of a rough - see: slow - morning so that Elias barely had any time to interact with any of the locals, save for a few curious officers who wanted to see what he was selling. None of them bought his lines for his wares, which only seemed to dampen his mood. All of that on top of the fact his possessions were now strewn about didn’t particularly help. The frowning lines remained upon his features but they softened when green eyes caught a glimpse of who he had bumped into. Another marine- ! It wouldn’t do to rile her up, or would it? He’d been so bored all morning, too.
With a bit of a sigh, Elias followed suit and shifted to his knees as well (sheathed kukri and mattock left aside for now), sporting a smile that came off as genuine looking as anything else as he started to pick up some of his belongings and dusted them off.
“Aa, no it’s alright! I, ah, it’s been a long morning-- I’m kinda tired, honestly, haven’t found lunch yet,” he admitted with a bit of laughter in his voice. Other miscellaneous items, bagged jewelry or otherwise, were scattered about in weary shapes. “Naw you can definitely help me. You’re a stranger, but a marine, so I’d appreciate it, yeah? Unless you have your orders to be someplace else,” he couldn’t helped but to add with a bit of a cheeky grin. Ah, thankfully it didn’t look like his things were in too rough shape save for some dirt here and there.
“Kinda surprised me seein’ so many of you guys here, though. I haven’t seen anyone even resembling a pirate on this island so far.” That is, unless they were here for a completely different reason.
