Joshua sensed power immediately. He could feel i in he air, a tingling that made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up straight. Arms crossed furively over his chest, he did his best to determine some sort of magical status from the frequency vibrating the air around her. Nothing. Which could only mean that she wasn’t from this universe, and if she was, then the higher-ups had some explaining to do.
“----What are you?” Blunt. Joshua did not time to deal with a rogue in his city. Things were still delicate after having completed the long game, and Joshua had been trying to be on his best behavior to keep himself, and others, out of trouble.

“It’s one of you----” Joshua furrowed his brow, unsure what to make of the black-cloaked figure before him. His brief stint in Traverse Town had left him with an uneasy feeling in his stomach whenever the black cloaked figures were mentioned. He was sure their purpose was similar to that of the reapers of his own world, but Joshua was still not quite sure. And oddly enough, this cloaked figure was, oddly enough, less intimidating. Joshua chalked that one up to the girl’s size. She was was much shorter than the figures he’d encountered previously. “----Or maybe you’re just a child who’s stolen one of their jackets, hmm?”
He was still cautious of her presence. Joshua knew, most likely better than anyone, just how unpredictable people could be, and hell, he wasn’t even sure if this being was human at all. “Would you mind telling me where I am?” He questioned rather casually, not quite sure how world hopping had managed to land him here. Not like he was complaining. This would give him the opportunity to learn more about the other universes he never bothered to occupy.

“----I remember you.” Various jaunts to other worlds often left Joshua with the faces of people he’d come into contact with embedded into his memory. This plucky brunette was no exception. And while he looked significantly different from the version living in his memories, there was no denying that he’d met this boy before. A dream of a dream. A blink in and out of existence that interrupted his plans for the long game. Thankfully, everything still managed to work out in Joshua’s favor.
“What was it...” He trailed off, tapping his chin in thought as he attempted to remember the boy’s name. “Sora, correct?” He cocked his head to the side, hoping that this wasn’t another chance meeting brought on by the unpredictability of time and space.
“Peculiar though, seeing you without that silver haired boy trailing after you like a lost little puppy.”
“You…”
Hazel optics widen a bit, greeted with the face of this abnormally pretty boy. She’d only seen him once, and for just a few minutes, but his was a face she couldn’t forget, given what she’d seen him do. A little red flag was desperately waving itself in the back of Shiki’s mind, “I know you. I know you, and it isn’t for the better.”
“Joshua…” she said quietly, a hint of fear in her tone. “What are you doing here,” she wanted to ask, yet she was reluctant, unsure if she’d like the answer–and so, she didn’t. The seamstress looked down at the plush he made mention of; predictably, she hugged Mr. Mew tight to her chest. “But–” she muttered, “but where would I be without him?”
“Me---” Joshua replied with a wry grin.
A single sigh escaped his lungs at the poor girl’s response. Whether or not she was scared of him or not was of no importance to him. This was all a formality, a rather boring formality. “-------And you’re....E r i, right?” A teasing smirk tugged at the corner’s of his lips. Out of all of the people he’d met during the long game. This one was the easiest to poke fun at.
“Me?” He cocked his head to the side, somewhat confused as to what she meant to accomplish by asking what he was up to. “I’m not sure if you’ve forgotten already, but this is, more or less, my city. I’ve got to look out for it’s residents from time to time.” Though, he wasn’t doing anything of the sort now.
Instead, he was wondering just what it would take to get the girl to leave behind her stuffed...whatever. However, her comment made him laugh lightly. “Well if I had to take a guess, you’d most likely be dead.” It was how she survived her game. That and a rather obnoxious red head attached to her hip.
Beat froze at that. Of all the things he’d expected to come out of Joshua’s mouth, that hadn’t been on the list. What. The. Hell?! He actually felt blindsided from the comment.
He started walking toward him, his hands curling into fists at his sides. “What the fuck, Joshua?!” He shouted, raising a hand to hit him. He deserved it, how dare he say that!
He raised a brow at the other’s reaction. “What? Do you actually think we’re friends?” Joshua spit the word onto the ground, disgusted. They couldn’t have been farther from it. He was more interested in seeing the other’s reaction than his feelings. People like Beat, those who were so emotionally charged were so interesting to interact with.
“And are you really going to try and hit a god?” He cocked a brow skywards, eyes darting down to the other’s clenched fist. “That’s cute.”
“Oh, keeping them safe, hearing them out, getting them to grow and better themselves. Giving them a push if they don’t budge by flinging them into the game.” The answer was followed by wings opening to flap, only to close as he remembered earlier.
“You? Helping people? Don’t make me laugh----” He rolled his eyes, an obvious look of disgust etched into his features. Though he couldn’t help the flicker of a smile when the other’s wings immediately closed. “----Please. Out of all the Nekus I’ve come across. You seem like you’d be the least caring.”
