i just wanna explain my personal frustration with fire emblem characters in smash

and thats that i dont play fire emblem

so theyre all basically indistinguishable for me

imagine never playing a mario game and having no concept of what its about

and they add mario

and youre like hey this is cool i dont like how he plays but okay

but then they add luigi. and youre like. this is just the same guy as mario but green and slightly different moves

then they add wario and youre like well stylistically hes different and he controls differently but (classically) he looks the same as red mario and green mario but hes fat and yellow

then they add dr mario who is indistinguishable from mario in every way and youre like. why. why wasnt this just an alt costume

then they add peach and its like wow this is completely new if not generic

then rosalina comes but you dont know anything about her so effectively shes just teal peach but with a star

then orange peach, daisy, comes along and (imagining daisy has as much of a character as wario) theres nothing to appreciate there

but theyre all cartoony so if nothing else you get a stylistic variance if only slightly

then bowser and bowser jr. pikachu and pichu even

its 100% a me problem and i acknowledge that but thats why i feel that way

they all have the same (restrictive) anime style and afaict move the same

so to me its just:

blue swordsman. second blue swordsman. red swordsman. blue swordswoman. dagger wizard. lance dragon with a sword. new blue swordsman

and probably another im forgetting because those characters just arent memorable to me

but some people were hella hyped for new blue sword dude and like
