Fathers Day is complicated for me , as it is for many . I come from a messy divorced family , so I wanted my kids to have a very different experience to me . Nick had just turned 21 when we met 18 years ago . Even then, I knew he would be a father who showed up with everything he has . Age 24 he became the father to twins and I would say, that is the most important thing he does . More than playing music or being my husband . Our kids are his #1 and there is nothing more magical , honorable and attractive than a dad who is committed to his kids . Thank you for being an incredible example for Ella , Silvan and Atlanta .. Did you know that on any night there are half a million Americans sitting in jail who are eligible for bail? There are so many people who were arrested for nonviolent/minor infractions who can’t go home to their family or go to work because they can’t pay bail. And they’re just sitting, awaiting trial. That can take months!

The Bail Project pays bail for people that are unable to afford their bail or have unreasonably high bails. They let out people that are legally innocent — not a threat to society.

The cash-bail system is hella fucked and disproportionately affects low-income communities and people.

Last year, The HRC (Human Rights Campaign), reported that in 2019 alone, at least 26 trans and gender nonconforming people were killed in the United States alone. Disproportionately, Black trans people were the victims. Those I have illustrated here, do not even scratch the surface of what is, and should be recognised as, an epidemic. Now, more than ever, it is crucial that we do whatever we can to support the black trans community.
