iâm only just now processing that wpsiatwin and sias are only five years apart. thatâs crazy. five years is just the time between albums these days, not four distinct eras (five if you count taotu) and a whole evolution.

All My Own Stunts
Josh [Homme] comes and sings on this one. Heâs very dominant, his voice. When you record his voice it just sort of leaps out, itâs great. What else can I tell you about that one? Itâs got another reference to cowboy films. It just says, âIâve been watching cowboy films on gloomy afternoonsâ which were something I were doing at the time. Itâs also where we let ourselves have a bit of a wig-out.

when suck it and see came out i remember seeing it advertised on itunes, and as an innocent american teenager unfamiliar with british slang, i thought âwho would name their album that?? oh, of course itâs those weirdos.â but i was in fact getting arctic monkeys confused with arcade fire, who i did not like at the time đ if i had given it a chance i wouldâve loved it and gotten into am two years earlier đ
Happy birthday to Suck It and See, which was released on 6th June, 2011.
âI think this record has a kind of warmth to it that weâve never had before. Sonically, I think itâs the best thing weâve done. The last song I wrote for the previous album was a track called âCornerstoneâ - and I think that really set the tone for the songs I wrote next, many of which ended up on this record. I didnât want it to sound twee or cheese, but I wanted to have the more melodic, major-key songs to go first on this record. We tried to challenge ourselves that way.â

being a kid and hearing adults say stuff like "woah 2011 was 4 years ago haha" didn't really convey the fucking horror of a youtube video crossing my recommended labelled "9 years ago" and it's from 2017. that's not true. 9 years ago is 2010 or something. don't lie.
