this is purely my headcanon for him, he's been rattling around in my brain for weeks and i needed to get him onto paper, lol.

has been 55 years old for the past 2½ amber eras

not many wrinkles, but his eyebags qualify as checked luggage

overall appearance best described as "thin and pointy"

looks like he's never smiled in his life, and that's because he hasn't, but his eyebrows make him look angrier than he is. guy just doesn't emote

keeps his hair long in the back because he's REALLY clinging to the last bit of grey he still has before it all goes white. do NOT mention this to his face

type of guy whose idea of casual wear is taking his tie and jacket off

white suit, black shirt, white tie = his signature style

yes his pupils are diamond-shaped ♦️

Convalescence

Laying out his cards, Ratio asked, "Are you feeling any better?" After a moment, Aventurine - arms crossed, shoulders raised, glaring daggers at his own winning hand - quietly admitted, "Yeah." His shoulders lost a bit of their tension, the furrow between his brows smoothed out, though he conspicuously didn't look up from his cards. "It's helping a lot. Thanks, Ratio." Ratio smiled, fond and indulgent.

i wanted the hospital bed to look like it was attached to the wall but it just looks like i forgot to draw the feet lmao. also DON'T look at me for the bottom of the IV stand. i gave the fuck up

anyway some of my favorite parts: the blanket scumbled all around aven's legs b/c he's restless and fidgety; aven's normal card spread vs. ratio's parallel and equidistant arrangement of rectangles; ratio's legs scruncht all up against the table; the broken-off piece of the bed shamefully propped up in roughly the spot it used to be in hopes staff won't notice; aven's lil squinchy nose - and i couldn't find a place to put it and didn't want to draw another piece of furniture for it to lay on, but in my head ratio's outer layers are off b/c aven complained about the fuckass hospital gown showing his bare ass and ratio just. stripped his toga off and gave it to him. eventually aven got too hot with it on and threw it across the room (ratio will pick it up later)
