hsr diamond concept art!💎 I'm not good w/ chara design, but I imagined him to have a put-together but ruffian-ish look? I also just really like man buns... (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
This was part of an art collab with @/greytscribbles on insta! Please check them out (they have their own stoneheart chara oc design they'll post soon and it looks SO good!) ˶‘ ᵕ ‘˶ <3
Apparently, the Ten Stonehearts of the IPC’s Strategic Investment Department were the only ones to stand up and side with the Trailblaze.
There’s “bad blood” between Diamond, an Emanator of Preservation, and the head of the Stonehearts and their respective department; and Oswaldo who is the head of the Marketing Development Department — as well as a former Nameless. Oswaldo and Diamond also apparently had some kind of truce until the issue with Irontomb cropped up. (Tangent under the cut.)
I personally wouldn’t say the Stonehearts are entirely trustworthy (sorry to Aventurine fans, lol) and, if anything, the IPC in general are a tricky lot to deal with; but if Aventurine and Jade aren’t lying and the Stonehearts really were the only ones to side with the Trailblaze and help during the crisis with Irontomb? Whereas Oswaldo, an alleged former Nameless, stood back even when confronted with the looming end of the universe?
Oswaldo already has a terrible rep — destroying Boothill’s homeworld for some ore, leaving Aventurine’s people to rot in Sigonia’s desert, and who knows what else — but this is an especially bad look.
I know every faction has a dark side — and I’m pretty sure that’s been established multiple times — but I’m more inclined to believe Oswaldo being a Nameless was either just a rumor that he made no attempt to debunk, or he himself explicitly made that claim to ride on their coattails. Topaz (during her debut) was willing to omit information from Bronya that the chances of Jarilo-VI’s restoration with the IPC’s aid only had about a 60% chance of success (iirc) before Himeko arrived to inform Bronya. It wouldn’t be surprising if it’s the same case here with Oswaldo being a “Nameless.”
And in case this must be spelled out: this is the most likely reason why, back in Penacony, Boothill confronted Dan Heng and Pom-Pom so aggressively when trying to verify their identities. A twisted man in a shady corporation is apparently a former “Nameless,” and here’s a group going around claiming to be passengers of THE Astral Express. Who wouldn’t be suspicious?

Summary:
After the IPC's first pet day, Diamond is left with nagging feeling of loneliness after he failed to buy one of Aventurine's cat cakes. Since he is the director, he won't allow himself to feel down because of a pet, so he orders Aventurine to find the "cat cakes", no matter the cost. The results are... unexpected. But not in a bad way.
Here's the story about how Diamond met his princess and how she changed his life.
Aventurine and Topaz aren’t the only ones of the Stonehearts to have pets. A few of the others do too.
(Btw there’s no canon compliance in these headcanons. I’m just making most of this up lmao)
Topaz: Topaz has Numby, of course. Her little squishy business partner. She spoils them rotten, and Numby in return does a lot of work for her.
Aventurine: Aventurine has the three cat cakes Ratio got him. I’ve personally gave them the names Ace, Marble, and Leaf. They’re quite needy and clingy but Aventurine adores them.
Jade: Snakes aren’t just a part of her motifs. She actually does have a pet venomous snake named Ringo (Japanese for apple). Ringo often likes to curl around either her hat or her neck while she works.
Sugilite: Sugilite has a pet ferret named Princess. If you thought Numby was spoiled, you haven’t met Princess yet. Princess, like the cat cakes, is also very clingy, and likes to hide in Sugilite’s coat or in his pockets.
Opal: Opal has a Giant Flemish Rabbit named Opalescence. Which means, as a Pepeshi, it’s about the size of him. And because Opalescence is so relaxed, Opal often used him as a pillow, or strokes him like how an evil mastermind would stroke a cat.
Obsidian: Obsidian has a pet fruit bat named Scarlet. Scarlet is a very small fruit bat that easily hides near Obsidian while she works. Scarlet also likes to jumpscare people by hiding then flying at them. Obsidian rewards her with food for doing so.
Diamond: Yes, Diamond also has a pet. He has a pet mountain lion named Velvet. Velvet gets all the special treatment by Diamond, often having access to rooms that others don’t. He also often uses her to intimidate people.
ANyway, let me know what you think of these silly headcanons!
Notes: Reader is Opal's assitant, Opal lowk a tsundere
Warning: Sugilite
Opal stops his music box from producing the sounds he had grown familiar with, pinching the bridge of his nose in disdain after seeing your caller ID on his phone. He remembers well the day Diamond himself found you out of who knows what part of the cosmos, his weird ahh boss somehow finds a pontential in you that he can never see for himself.
As a sigh leaves his lips, he picks up your call. "What inconvinience will you lay upon me today?" Opal starts, making it clear that he is far from happy to talk to you again.
"Boss Babyyyy, come to the ground floor! I have no idea what's going on, but Madam Jade bugged me to call you for that!" Opal feels the desire to swallow his own Cornerstone as the words leave your mouth, has Jade lose her mind to ask him, THE Opal, to come down?
"I'll go down, but prepare a special notice ready to be sent to Diamond." He gives an order that you aren't sure what for, so of course, being the nuisance you are (to him, at least), questions his order.
"What for?"
"To terminate you from being my assistant."
Opal rolls his eyes as your laugh reaches his ears, already used to your tendency to laugh at everything. "Wahh, who will help you reach the upper shelves when you're too prideful to ask for help?"
With that, Opal taps the 'End Call' button.
---
The little man strides to the large elevator, looking left and right before jumping to press the button. Opal taps his little foot on the marble floor, impatience turning to anger, if you were here and not stolen by that stupid bigback, Sugilite for a mission, you would be able to teleport him to the ground floor faster than he could finish his order.
Ding!
The elevator doors open, thankfully. Opal's anger leaves fast and enters while fixing his blazer. His finger pressing the buttons with an odd calmness, most of the times, the button would've already been a little broken by how hard he presses them, making you contact the buidling's maintance crew to come and fix it.
Opal looks behind him, the glass interior of the elevator allowing him to get a great view of Pier Point. The city with lights that varies in colors, employees rushing to their appointed destinations.
Ding!
He turns and walks out with confidence, knowing his rank amongst the employees in his presence. They give a small, polite greeting before hurrying off, which he returns with small responses.
Looking down at his phone, he heads to the special lounge, prepared for the elite. Two guards stands by the doors, sunglasses on their faces, one ear of theirs have listening devices for easy communication.
They open the doors for him wordlessly, the bright lights illuminating his face. Expecting guests, he prepares himself for a few minutes of exchanging fancy words with them.
To Opal's surprise, there is no other presence in the room, only a box accompanies him in it as the guards had already closed the doors behind him. A frown makes way to his face, walking towards the coffee table.
Now that he's right in front of it, the box is larger than he anticipated, it's color is pink with light aquamarine and yellow ribbons wrapped around it, a bow of the same colors sticked on top of the box.
He pulls out his phone to give you a ring, but changes his mind fast, Sugilite probably is making your life miserable as of the moment. Opal huffs and begins opening the box, unwrapping the ribbons, folding them neatly before tucking them into the hiden pockets of his blazer.
Opal opens it, a vein popping on his forehead as he sees a singular sticky note inside a big box. Jade must be laughing from wherever nameless planet she's in right now.
'Up.'
His fingers twitch to summon his pistol, which had been plastered with awful owlbert stickers to his demise, and yes, you did it when he was focus on the music box shaped puzzle you gifted him.
Remembering your tendency to hide away his favorite music box if he uses his gun for little inconviniences, Opal tugs his phone out of his pocket instead, searching through his contacts list to find Jade's ID.
Before he can call our most gorgeous Lady Bonjade, a message pops out, from Jade herself, distracting Opal.
Jade
Greetings, I send my sincere apologies. The clients have gone up to your office without informing me, and apparently they left you a message about their sudden descision.
Opal will swallow his Cornerstone.
---
This time, Opal smashes the button, he'll leave the task to contact the maintenance crew to the next employee that will use it. The box is long destroyed in the lounge, forgotten.
Ding!
Opal stomps to his office, ready to smash harsh words to the clients, after all, you aren't here to scold him for it. Opening the office doors, he's met with even more boxes.
"What the shell is this?!" His voice spreads across his office, striding pass the boxes with a goal. To shove the mysterious person sitting on his chair, it's turned away from him, making it impossible for Opal to see the person sitting on it.
Upon reaching the chair, he spins it around with surprising strenght for his stature. A large teddy bear holding a luxurious music box looks down on him, its colors and clothing paired up in a way that it resembles you.
Before Opal can proccess all that is happening, the music box activates.
"Happy birthday Boss Baby!! I'm sorry for not being there with you in your special day, and sorry for the inconvinience of making you go up and down the buidling, I had to buy your other slav...employees some time to fix the set up for you...enjoy your cake too, but drink water after, okay?"
Before you can continue your birthday message, Sugilite's voice pops out, ruining the special moment.
"Are you done? Let's eat dinner already."
"Not yet, sir!" You clear your voice. "I'll make it up to you after I'm done with this mission, don't worry! Love you Boss Baby, never change, or do, your other employees will be throwing month long parties if you did. Bye bye!!"
Opal buffers as he proccesses all that had just occured, looking at the boxes, he can tell that they're presents from you, and also the cake on the table that only now he knew the existence of.
---
On your side, Sugilite is taking a nap after dealing with pesky politicians that owe a rather large debt to the IPC. You smile to yourself, imagining how pissed Opal is and how he would enjoy the cake to his heart's content.
Your phone buzzes, picking it up and reading the message, you hold a small chukle.
Boss Baby
Tell Sugilite that I ordered you to come back here, I can't finish this cake all by myself.
Looks like Sugilite will have to deal with the debtors all by himself.
