To Communicate With Animals With Your Mind
Heya guys! Back with another spell! I know many of us wish we could hear what our pets/companions/familiars were saying or thinking. I hope im not the only one!
I have a spell here from Anastasia Greywolf’s book “Witchcraft: A Handbook of Magic, Spells and Potions”. Highly recommend the book to whoever is thinking about buying it!
“To commune with an animal with whom you have a relationshi, look into his or her eyes while envisioning a circle of light encircling you both. Close your eyes and match the rhythm of your breathing to the animals, then think:
I pronounce to thee my intentions, with heart and spirit high.
I am here to hear, or to be.
Be my animal guide
Be aware of any message the animal may be sending.”
I have yet to try this spell myself but i plan on doing it later today after i harvest some energy!
Sabbat-day Sigils
You can incorporate them in your Sabbat-day rituals! You can write them on a piece of paper and burn it, carve it into a candle and light it, write it on yourself for a little boost!
You can charge them with crystals, incense smoke, your own personal energy, the sun, the moon, etc.
I figured since Mabon is coming up i would share my sigils 😊

Melt The Frost--An Imbolc Spread
Imbolc helps us say farewell to the hibernation of winter and usher in the bountiful months of spring. I hope that this spread can help you determine what areas of your own lives are stagnant, and how to bring them back to life!
1. Frost: This position represents that which has frozen over in your life. Where do you see stagnation? In what ways have you become stuck?
2. Flame: This position symbolizes the spark that will help you usher in your productive season. What can help you move forward with your goals? What will thaw out your frozen motivation?
3. Flower: This position marks the joys that await you in the spring season. What seeds lie dormant, waiting for the spring to let them blossom? What gifts will arrive with the changing season?
Imbolc Practices
Imbolc is a sabbat which some celebrate to welcome the Celtic goddess Brighid, a deity of fire and fertility. Imbolc can also be celebrated as winter gradually coming to a close with the days getting longer, and the seasonal and agricultural implications of that. Either way, it is a festival of light and new beginnings, and is celebrated with fire and joy.
Before Imbolc - A time for resting
Do not make new plans
Sleep as much as possible
Take care of your body
Take hot baths and moisturize your skin
Arts & Crafts
Brighid rules art and creativity – do anything artistic! Your creative skills are at a peak this time of year. If you’ve been in a rut, now is a good time to do some self-cleansing and bring yourself out of it.
Decorate a candle with spring leaves and flowers
Make a Brighid’s bed
Make a Brighid’s cross
Make a Brighid mantle out of a green cloth long enough to wrap around your shoulders. Leave it on your doorstep on the night of Imbolc and Brighid will bless it for you. In the morning, wrap yourself in the mantle to feel her healing energy.
Make Brighid wheels and hang them on or above your door
Make a corn doll
Make a priapic (acorn-tipped) wand
Make a sun-catcher
Make ice candles
Make paper snowflakes and hang them around your home
Put together a playlist that reminds you of the season or of Brighid
Start a dream diary
Write a poem about spring
Write in your grimoire about the season, the sabbat, and what all of it means to you personally
Cleaning & Cleansing
Clean off your altar and redo it
Clean your home
Consecrate tools that will be consumed throughout the year (candles, incense, ritual tools, etc. that you plant to use for spell casting)
Consecrate your agricultural tools
If you do not feel ready to charge or consecrate your own tools, leave them with an offering in a windowsill to be blessed by your deity overnight
Rearrange the furniture in your home.
Refresh any crystal grids or salt lines around your home.
Cooking
Make braided bread
Make your own butter
Use milk in your cooking to represent spring lambing
Decorating & Gardening
Place a besom at the front door to symbolize purification and cleansing
Plant bulbs and new seeds in your garden
Put a grain effigy and a phallic wand in a basket next to the hearth or candles at night to welcome Brighid
Remove Yuletide greens and burn or dispose of them (make sure your greens are safe to burn and always practice fire safety)
Spell-casting & Divination
Cast spells for prosperity and new beginnings
Dip a ribbon into a natural body of water (or moon water, if there is no natural water near you) and tie it to a branch in your yard to welcome hope and healing
Dismantle old spells (jars, talismans, etc) and use what remains to charge new spells. The recycled energy will make the new spells even stronger.
Explore some love or fertility magic
Healing spells are extra powerful this month. Before or during Imbolc when the moon is waning, take time to banish or release any illnesses affecting your or your loved ones. Afterwards, when the moon is waxing, perform spells to draw in healing energies.
Practice lithomancy
Take time to focus on divination and increasing your own magical abilities
Use your priapic wand in your garden to awaken trees and plants from their winter slumber
Other Activities
Go out to a local park or forest and pick up litter to help make way for new spring growth
Light candles in your garden to purify and invigorate them for the coming growing season
Pour some milk onto the earth as an offering and ask that the coming year brings you what you need
Prepare homemade remedies to use through the rest of the year
Put out bread, milk, grains and/or seeds for Brighid on Her eve
Sit out under the moon with some chamomile tea and appreciate the view!
Visit a lake, stream or other body of water and go for a swim (or meditate if it’s too cold for that!)
Welcome the sun by lighting a candle (or all your candles!) at sunrise and/or sunset
After Imbolc - A time for cleansing
Clean the home and prepare for spring
Do a body cleanse
Open windows to let in fresh air
Rearrange your furniture
Replace your home air filters
Throw away old belongings

Laurel’s Easy Sabbat Planning Guide
For all of the witches who struggle with Sabbats sneaking up on them, here is a guide to help whip up an easy celebration so you never have to miss out on Sabbats again!
A Sabbat is a seasonal festival mostly celebrated by Pagans and Witches. Sabbats are like any other holiday, except these are normally celebrations of the changing of the seasons, or the “turning of the wheel.” Each person will celebrate each Sabbat differently, as each season is completely personal to you.
⛤ The First Step
The first step I recommend to planning a Sabbat celebration is to figure out exactly what the Sabbat is to you. Figure out how you feel about the sabbat and what you naturally associate each one with. This can take some time to work through, especially if you are new to sabbats or if you tend to avoid nature at all costs.
⛤ What to ask yourself:
- What does this Sabbat mean to you? - What is the Earth doing right now? What does it look like outside your window? - What is in season (this includes foods, herbs, flowers and decor)? - How do you feel this time of year? How does this particular Sabbat make you feel? Is this normal? - What sort of things make you feel “witchy” or connected to this Sabbat? - Why is this day special to you?
⛤ Things to Do:
- Perform a ritual. Rituals can be as elaborate or as simple as you want them to be. Sometimes all you have to work with is a tealight candle and a week old pack of cookies.
- Cook. Some of us feel connected to the world around us when there is food involved. After all, it’s not a party unless there is food. Try out a new recipe with in-season foods, or make your favorite comfort food dish.
- Go outside. The easiest way to celebrate the changing of the seasons is to go outside and experience them. Even if it’s a short walk (because not many people want to go for long strolls in the dead of winter), take a moment to step outside and experience nature and observe what it’s currently doing. If you are able, plan a day trip to somewhere special or new to explore.
- Decorate. Nothing gets me in the holiday (or Sabbat) spirit like decorating. As a child decorating for Christmas was the best because that was the only time we put up decorations. Now, as an adult, I use whatever I have handy to decorate for every Sabbat I can to make me feel more festive.
- Offerings. If you work with spirits of deities, you may wish to put together some sort of offering for them when you celebrate. This can be food, special rocks or flowers from outside, or something you’ve made yourself.
- Spells. Sabbats are prime times to do spells for me. The spells I cast are reflections of the coming season and what I want from them.
- Crafts. There are a ton of different little projects for Sabbats floating around on the internet. Get creative and make something! If you are on a budget, make something with what you have, or modify a craft to include what you have. I like to make something new each year for the Sabbats (it’s an easy way to get “decorations” too!)
- Divination. Nothing says celebration like a good old fashion look into the future. Choose any form of divination that you’d like and do a reading for yourself.
- Journaling. Sometimes the easiest way to celebrate and connect is to get into your own head. Let the Earth inspire you. Stare out a window (or sit outside if you can) and just watch what happens around you. Let it inspire you to create. Journal about your own feelings, write a freestyle poem or sketch and paint what you see.
⛤ Creating a Ritual
Not all rituals have to be long and elaborate. Some of my favorite rituals are just sitting around in sweatpants with a hot cup of cocoa and my journal, reflecting on the season and my life. Ask yourself these questions to help piece together how a ritual would be best done for you.
- What am I celebrating? How can I celebrate this? - Who am I worshiping? - How much space do I have? - How much time do I have? - Why am I celebrating this Sabbat? - What do I/can I buy for my celebrations?
The important thing for Sabbats isn’t how grand your ritual is, it’s all about gaining something from it, whether that be a nice warm fuzzy feeling or a great insight into your life.
⛤ Reflection and Meditation
After each Sabbat day, I find it helpful if I reflect upon what I did that day and how my celebration went. This is when I do most of my journaling, but you don’t have to write anything. You can simply sit and rest and meditate on the day if you wish. Use this time to unwind.
- What did I do today? How do I feel about it? - What ideas do I have for next year? - What did this year’s Sabbat teach me? - What was my favorite part of today’s celebration? - What was my least favorite?
Happy Celebrating! ~L <):)
Sabbat Altar and Celebration Ideas for the Solitary Witch
YULE Altar ideas: Put mistletoe and pine on your altar; put a candle up there to represent the Sun; keep your Yule log on your altar; use symbols of the Sun; decorate with red, green, white, blue, and yellow (red and green for holly, white and blue for snow and wintery colors, yellow for the Sun). Celebration ideas: Kiss a consenting person under the mistletoe for luck; give gifts; have a feast; make magickal wreaths with herbs corresponding to the spell intent (you might use lilac, lavender, and camomile for a wreath that brings peace into your home).
IMBOLC Altar ideas: Use candles to represent the return of spring; make a cute little corn dolly; put a Brigid’s cross on there to honor her; decorate with yellow and green to represent the Sun and return of spring. Celebration ideas: Clean your house; have a self-dedication ritual (to a particular path, deity, philosophy, standard of life, etc.); clean off your working altar and redo it; cleanse and charge any tools or crystals you need to.
OSTARA Altar ideas: Use fake eggs, rabbits, and other symbols of fertility or spring; put some potted plants on the altar; place some packets of seeds you might be planning on growing; decorate with purple, yellow, green, white, and other spring, pastel colors. Celebration ideas: Paint and blow eggs (take proper precautions when handling raw eggs, obviously, especially if you’re putting your mouth on them); if you have a greenhouse, want a potted plant, or it’s warm enough where you live to plant outside, plant some seeds; buy a potted plant; organize your herb shelf.
BELTAINE Altar ideas: Make a mini Maypole for your centerpiece; smack some candles up in there, especially beeswax, if that’s in your budget; put some faery symbols, like little statues or bells or something like that; a jar of honey or some beeswax is always dope; if you’re comfortable with it, some people like to put representations of genatalia on their altar. Celebration ideas: Light an awesome bonfire (also be very cautious with this because fire can quickly turn dangerous); leave offerings to the faeries; have a dance outside; this is a good time to plan to have a handfasting ceremony or wedding; cast any love workings you’ve been meaning to do; if you’re an adult and have a person/people who consent to it, you could choose to have sex during this time (but do be safe!); many people try to conceive children during Beltaine.
LITHA Altar ideas: Symbols of the Sun and the Moon, feminine and masculine symbols if that’s a thing in your tradition; decorate with black and white to symbolize the night and day. Celebration ideas: Get up before the Sun rises and go to sleep after it sets, so you can experience the day and night; have a bonfire (again, safety is important); have a picnic; just spend a lot of time outside.
LUGHNASADH Altar ideas: Put bread and grain on the altar; maybe some apples and other autumn fruits; pinecones and leaves are fall symbols; decorate with red, orange, yellow, brown, and other colors of the season. Celebration ideas: Bake (especially make the cute little bread men); give an offering to the Earth; go to an apple orchard and pick some apples; share a feast with the family or your friends.
MABON Altar ideas: Wine, or grape juice if alcohol is unavailable for any reason; leaves and pinecones; apples; a money jar (see first celebration suggestion below). Celebration ideas: For a week or two before Mabon, put money you can afford to give up in a jar, and donate it to charity or a cause you support on Mabon; have another apple harvest; have another feast; do a ritual to honor the Earth.
SAMHAIN Altar ideas: Pop a few gourds in there, more apples if you want; pictures of the deceased; tools for divination and spirit contact; decorate with black, white, and orange. Celebration ideas: Divination, spirit communication (obviously only if you know what you’re doing); hold a seance or a dumb supper if that’s more comfortable for you; light a candle in the window for spirits (use a fake one if you want it lit all night); leave some milk and honey for the Fair Folk; give offerings to the dead; put up wards and shields if you’re one of the people who would prefer to avoid spirit activity.

Self-Care for Empaths
As an Empath, I am sure that you occasionally experience draining, exhausting, and hard-to-deal-with spells of overflowing emotions. We build up the energies that we are surrounded by, and this can sometimes be really overwhelming. For me, I get withdrawn and panicked when I am around too many people for too long. It leaves me feeling like I’ve become out of touch with myself, and oftentimes have a hard time getting her to return to me! So, inspired by some asks I have received regarding this topic, I felt compelled to create a list of things to try. Keep in mind that not all of these will work for every person, but I hope that you take with you some inspiration all the same! Without further ado, here are some of my own tips for those with empathetic abilities:
1). Keep notice of your physical health. I know it sounds a bit silly, but something as simple as keeping hydrated can be such a game-changer! If you notice yourself feeling especially drained and emptied of your own emotions, drinking lots of water can be the first step to regaining your own feelings. ♡
2). Take a moment away from the crowd. Have you ever felt especially over (or under) whelmed in regards to your emotions while being surrounded by others? This tends to happen to me a lot and, judging from my own experiences, excusing yourself for a few minutes is very healthy. I often feel a “build-up” of everyone else’s vibes becoming my own, and it leaves me feeling very unlike myself and especially distant. Take some time to be alone in the restroom or to go outside - take deep breaths, ten being your goal. Close your eyes. Center yourself. Gently pinch your skin, squeeze your own wrist, hold yourself. Allow yourself to come back to reality, and to become one again with your own senses. ♡
3). Keep track of your own emotions. As empaths, we obviously encounter so many different styles of basic emotions - we experience unique forms of sadness, happiness, or dread. Why not begin keeping track of what makes *you* feel certain ways? Start a special journal for your emotions. If you are around a certain individual, in a certain place, etc and experience heightened happiness, panic, love, discomfort, what have you… Write it down. Keep track of what makes you feel what. Try your best to notice patterns, and to avoid people, places, or things that leave you feeling negatively, all while welcoming the ones that do not. 😌🙏🏻
4). Practice grounding or shielding. Visualizing methods are not for everyone, but for some, they can very positively influence your state of mind! Take some time alone to meditate and manifest your own personal method of visualization. This could be imagining a golden light surrounding you, acting as a protective shield from others’ vibrations. It could be coming up with a special mantra that you repeat in your head during times of feeling overwhelmed: “I am here… I am real… My feelings are valid, and they are my own.” Practice this technique until you experience draining in real-time, and test our your method during such instances. ♡
5). Lastly… Remember to take time for yourself. Everyone needs to recharge, empath or not. Do not overwhelm yourself with activities or energy. Take a special day every now and then to show yourself some extra love, letting yourself be comfortable in your own presence and allowing the regaining of your own energies. Do something you love that relaxes and rejuvenates you! Focusing on yourself is always the best way to refocus your vibrations, and really embrace what makes you, you. ♡

I like to say this as I’m lighting some sage incense to cleanse/protect my room/house:
By the energies of love and light,
I call upon thee day and night,
Keep negativity at bay
Push evil spirits far away
Powerful Self Cleansing Ritual
This is a very powerful ritual which calls upon elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Great for when you need to cleanse your mind and body from painful memories, experiences or just need to clear your mind due to excessive anxiety, depression etc! A large part of this ritual is fine-tuning your focus and become sensitive to the energies radiating from the elements that you come in contact with throughout this spell.
First call upon element of Earth by acquiring a smudging stick, or any combination of cleansing herbs in a fireproof bowl (good ones are sage and rosemary, and thyme make sure they are dry or they may not light on fire). Smell the herbs and hold them in your hands whilst envisioning the power and energy of the Earth. Repeat the following incantation:
“Element of Earth, I invoke thee
Cleanse my mind and body of all negativity”
Next light your herbs or smudging stick on fire and wave it around your body from the top of your head, down to your feet completely cover yourself in the smoke. As you watch the embers envision the powers of fire and feel the energy radiating from the embers and flames. As you wave the smoke around your body repeat the following:
“Element of fire, I invoke thee,
cleanse my mind and body of all negativity”
As you breathe in the smoke of the herbs, focus on the element of air. Envision that which each breath you take you are inhaling positive energy and exhaling negative reaffirm this aloud as you say:
“Element of Air, I invoke thee,
As I exhale, carry away the negative energies that reside in my body
As I inhale, bring positive energies into my body”
Make sure to take big deep breaths as you repeat the incantation, picturing the energies flowing in and out of your lungs.
Lastly, the element of water. I find this to be one of the most powerful aspects of the spell and should be done LAST. Get to a body of water that you can rinse yourself in, stand in, splash in, whatever. A simple bowl of water will not be as powerful opposed to this method. I decided to take a shower (because it was convenient lol) you can feel free to run a bath if you like. Visiting a stream or river is obviously ideal but it is really the intent here that matters. Stand in the water and wash yourself whilst repeating:
“Element of water, I invoke thee,
May the water rushing over my skin carry (bad energies, and painful
memories, pain, whatever it is you wish to focus on) away
Close your cleansing ritual by thanking each of the elements aloud.
Salt Rattles for Cleansing or Protection
Salt rattles are a good quick fix for keeping bad energy or spirits away, especially if you’re away from home (staying in someone’s home, hotels, or any other place you’ve been disturbed by bad energies)
You will need:
–A small metal tin (leftover cosmetic tins are perfect for this)
–Salt: white salt for general cleansing, black salt to take away extremely negative or malevolent beings, pink salt to bless a bedroom or room of your choice before being intimate with a partner**.
Ritual:
–Dress your tin in moonlight, seawater, earth, whatever you like to dress ritual containers in.
–Fill your tin with the color salt of your choice.
–When you’re in need of a cleanse take your tin and shake it around the thresholds of the room, your head, your midsection, and your feet) humming helps increase the effectiveness of your rattle.
**if you’re using pink salt in your rattle, this will act as a sort of love and attraction spell and will charge the bedroom with some good sexy energy (woohoo) just make sure your partner is excited and consenting, then shake away, witches!
