#Awards show was a hit today.#Going all out & being silly went well :)#Got a lot on my mind that I may share here soon idk.#Haven’t shared much throughout the year like I thought I would.#Haven’t made a single post on insta or TikTok either.#Just stories.#Just busy I guess hahah.#Can confidently say I am feeling positive after the first year.#It was hard of course.#But it was good.#If my first year is meant to be my hardest.#I’m coastin’.#Anyways I gotta hand write like 40 more cards so uuuh. Hello from Portugal! Our train to Porto was canceled due to worker strikes, but we luckily were able to get tickets for a bus & are on our way now. 😅

Lisbon was lovely. Definitely would love to be back again. The journey continues on. 😎

#The people here are WONDERFUL.#Just so kind & friendly.#It didn’t seem fake like it’s just for tourists.#But who knows how much or little it is because of us.#Either way it was a very very pleasant experience.#Fun shopping & downtown area.#Aesthetic is nice.#Lots of buildings are colorful. It’s cute!#And of course.#The. Food.#I loved LOVED Spain three years ago.#You can find some pics if you scroll a bit.#Y’all know I don’t keep much up on here so it’s not far lmao.#I know I’m speaking super ignorantly.#But there are some similarities in food which was awesome.#Tons of seafood. Some good meats. And yummy pastries.#The food I posted above…y’all.#SO good. SO SO good.#Large grilled octopus tentacles are so good here it’s not even funny.#I wish the US did it more commonly.#The squid & the black rice was amazing. So was the duck confit.#And of course the custard tarts were phenomenal.#Best custard tarts I’ve ever had.#Anyways. I’m sure I’ll have more to share.#Been loving the trip & having the chance to share my time with y’all.#Pochacco’s enjoying it too. :)

I got reeeally close to posting the other day. I made a whole 15 second video & it’s sitting in the drafts (which is quite on brand for lil ‘ol me like old times on here 😅). Progress!…We’ll see if I post, hahah. And yes! The students love filling buckets every week. I’m thinking we’ll remake them & I’ll share their updated looks in January :)

Thank you, Tuki! Given how late this is, you can tell it’s been a busy 3 months of school so far, hahah. It’s been fun & so rewarding though! So happy to have finally gotten to this point, and I hope to share more about it down the line.

My room’s still a bit empty even now, with mostly just student work & like 1 cute little thing in the room for “bucket filling” where we write kind notes to each other. Maybe when we get some cute holiday decorations going I’ll share soon :’)

I hope you’ve been well & that the pharmacy stuff has continued to go well. I know it’s quite a lot of work, but you’ve been putting that work in! Wishing you well!~

First day of officially being Mr. Nguyen 🥹

#It’s actually here.#Had such a wonderful first day.#Bit of a quiet & sweet bunch for the most part.#I’m worried long-term about how well we’ll do together academically.#But socially & for social-emotional stuff.#I like the group I have.#There are a fair share of challenges for sure.#But ultimately I lucked out & got a great group & a great supporting set of coworkers at the school.#My 4th grade grade-level partner has been taking really good care of me.#And the 5th grade teachers are cool & sweet.#I’m feeling very grateful at this time.#Good energy all around.#But there’s lots of planning to be done!#And more work on my room.#Which is why I have a picture from this morning & not in my class lmao.#Hope y’all been well. Thank you so much! It's been a long journey, and probably longer than it should've been, but it worked out & the grind hasn't stopped. It's interviewing time & job hunting time. Can't rest easy quite yet, but it's exciting nonetheless. We'll see where I end up in August & how things go, but things are moving & I couldn't really ask for more than that.

Thank you for checking in as always & for always giving your support throughout the years. No matter the gaps, I know you'll be there & that's what makes sticking around here worth it. #This'll be the longest break from working with kids ever since I started coaching.#Winter break was sooooo long. 2 months for summer? Oh boy.#I'll appreciate it eventually I'm sure lmao.#But until then.#I'll need to keep busy.#My study material this summer.#Besides teacher motivation books & whatnot.#Will be watching children's films since I'm pretty behind on all of that.#I gotta know the plots & the songs at least.#So I can keep up with the youngsters.#I've got the general anime knowledge department covered but I gotta explore.#Oooh I also want to practice handwriting.#Mine's fine for a guy.#But like.#Especially if I end up working with younger students (which I'd prefer but we'll see).#I need to be precise with my writing.#Like this last semester has forced me to write my number 2 the standard way almost by default.#I've been a curly 2 person most of my life & just this spring alone has made me like 70/30 on it now lmaooo.#The things we do for the students.#It's all love. Had my Teaching Credential Ceremony today & I was invited as a guest speaker. Things are really coming together now. 😊

Second semester student teaching has been PHENOMENAL! I'm in 2nd grade this time around & I love the class. My mentor teacher's incredible, the students are really sweet & hard working, and things are steadily coming together more & more. I'm sure I'm just biased towards these particular students, but I'm really enjoying the younger grade for this semester. Content is not as interesting to me, but the students are sweet. We'll see how I feel with more time with them, but I adore them so much!

Classwork's been lighter, but that's to compensate for longer school days. It's all sorts of busy, but in the best way possible. Now that we have some classes in person, it's nice to see my cohort that I've been working with closely this & last semester outside of Zoom. It's been fun getting to know them better & interacting in more organic ways.

Wishing you a marvelous March & beyond for your class & you. A little under 3 months left of the school year, but I'm sure there's still so much more to do. I'm slowly realizing just how common of a feeling that's going to be throughout the year, hahah. Best of luck for the rest of the year, Eggplant!

That's actually so funny that you bring this up. I think before I mentioned that I maybe had one more URL change in me before I finalized it, but honestly I've had this one the longest compared to the rest & I do really like it. I've had "andyhuy" hoarded for awhile, but would maybe only change it at this point if I somehow got "huy." I contacted that person and they kindly replied that they're holding onto it.

Rest assured, this URL is not going anywhere and you'll be able to find me at the same 'ol reliable place. My icon maaaaay change sometime in the future on a whim, though. This picture is a few years old at this point. And I'm not even smiling! That's so not me at all! Who am I trying to impress here, lmao. Hi my Dearest Eggplant!!!!! Happy 2022!

I've been doing very well, thank you. The first semester of student teaching went excellently. I realize I didn't actually post about it much on here. I was just that busy I guess, oops! I really, really had an incredible time this last semester. It was my most demanding semester of college, but it is also the semester I did my best work. Academically did well, connected really well with my cohort of student teachers, and of course really put my heart into working with my group of students for the Fall. It's a shame I have to leave them for another class for Spring, but I'm hoping to at least visit them before they graduate into middle school! :')

Hope you've been well. I know the last year and a half has been quite a ride for your first years of teaching. You're really going through the gauntlet! A lot of teachers at my previous school site mentioned that nobody could've imagined that this first full year back in person would end up being harder than the years online. It really seemed like that, though. This start for the new semester seems no different, too. I hope everything's been as okay as it can be for your school. A lot's been going on across the country & the students are of course being affected to much.

Even once this is all "over," we've got a lot of work to do for many years to come, but that comes with the territory. We've gotta be flexible for them, and I think the recent semester challenged me to do just that. I'm excited for my new school assignment for the spring and final semester before officially reaching this goal! As you know it's been quite the journey for me, to say the least haha.

I've missed your messages, too. They're honestly the brightest part of my time on here nowadays. I don't know how much longer I'm allowed to just assume that you'll stop by those few times a year that you do. I can't expect this forever! You're a busy person & have your own things to attend to aside from this 'ol site here. If we want to keep up with sharing teaching adventures then this format may become a hindrance, but I'm appreciative all the same of course!
