Death comes, and sometimes it is kind, and often it is cruel, and very rarely it is welcome. But it comes all the same.

CW: Discussing greif and Edwards suicide in the context of new moon.
If vampires are frozen as they are in the moment they die, was Edward frozen in the greif of becoming an orphan, of being overcome by influenza and not knowing what he lives for.
Maybe that's been his baseline for 100 years.
So when he falls in love with his "fragile human", when Bella almost dies in his ballet studio this feelomg dominates. We see other vampires go through great loss and not become suicidal (the denali clan).
What if its easy for him to accept death because in his last human moments he has accepted it.

hey!!! have you ever wanted to watch an actual Quileute elder talk about Quileute culture, language, and tradition? (as well as his family history, the damage Twilight has done, climate change, and so much more?)
trick question. this is an intervention. even if you’ve never wanted that, you do now.

this is a video of Chris Morganroth, a Quileute elder, canoe-builder, language teacher, and a fantastic storyteller. he is wearing a shirt covered in pictures of wolves: his cousin made it for him! this is a recording of a 2012 speech at the Smithsonian. it is about an hour long. it is so worth it.
(big thanks to @twilightphasepodcast, who cited this as a resource in their latest episode, which was how i found it!)
