basically this is the first headcanon, or even piece of writing, i’ve ever posted, though i have written a few things before! i hope this is okay and that you’ll enjoy it?? i tried making this more gender neutral and use they/them! i hope i succeeded?? feedback would be much appreciated!!! i really enjoyed writing this! it’s very long, so i hope you can bear through it all to the end!
summary: ever since the car accident, stephen strange tries to do little tasks, but they deem to be quite difficult because of the damaged nerves in his hands. his s/o notices this one night, and you’ll find out the rest (it’s super cute and fluffy i swear)! all of this takes place before the whole “he-becomes-a-wizard-and-is-super-hot-and-powerful” thing
first off, let’s get something straight.. stephen’s s/o is someone who he’s been close to for awhile
i mean, he’s like one of the best doctors there is, okay??
not to mention he was pretty selfish when he was a doctor
so it’d be pretty hard to steal this hunk’s heart
they’d be someone he’s known for what seems like forever
or else you’d probably never catch his attention, sorry
unless you were really wealthy and famous then maybe but idk let’s move on
his s/o would probably not have a fancy or high-paying job, such as his
he wouldn’t mind because his s/o would seem more.. “normal???”
at nights, he’d be with his s/o after a long day at work and they’d kind of pull him out of his hectic world
so kind of like be his “normal” and help him relax
they’d definitely be someone he can lean on and rant to
anyways this isn’t the point of this headcanon
but hey, i could totally go on about who his s/o would be like and all so if you wanna see that, let me kNOW
even if no one lets me know, i’ll probably still do it
why do i feel like that’s dirty
he was driving and gets into a car accident blah blah blah damages nerves in his hands
once he’s able to go back to the home him and his s/o share, he starts trying to do little things on his own
like shaving, writing, using utensils, etc.
but as you can assume, it’s very difficult because his hands tremble
one night, stephen is trying to shave and he assumes his s/o isn’t home
he doesn’t want them to see him struggle or help because he’s a “big boy,” whatever that means idk
little does he know, they do come home from picking up some chinese food
they hear stephen get frustrated as well as a banging noise
probably him throwing the razor at something
he yells and says a couple curse words
since his s/o is concerned, as would most likely anyone be, they go to check on him
they find him with his head resting against the mirror and his hands balled up in his hair, pulling on it
“stephen?” his s/o would call out very calmly and quietly at the sight of him
he’d turn around, hands trembling and a bit of fear in his eyes that his s/o had to see him like that
not to mention a cut or two on his cheek
but his s/o has heard him rant many many times about his job before so his frustration didn’t scare them
they brought him into their arms and caressed his back to calm him down
he may or may not have melted a little by their touch
they assumed he’d been at this for awhile so they took matters into their own hands
they made him sit on the toilet lid since he’s a frickin giant
they gently placed a hand on his cheek before they started to shave the other
which he relaxed into the warmth of their hand and thought how lucky he was to have them
his s/o was slow and careful when they were shaving his cheek
and he was watching them the whole time with adoration for his s/o clearly painted in his eyes
then they shaved the other cheek
no one said a word during this whole thing
but his s/o was very worried about stephen since he had trouble with such things as this
of course, they were more than willingly to do this for their lover
after they were done, they placed the razor on the counter, and stephen wrapped his arms around their waist and rested his head on their chest
while his s/o wrapped their arms around his neck and placed a loving kiss on the top of his head, then lied their head on top of his
they were like this for a moment or two, no words leaving either of their mouths
bUT eventually the sound of stephen’s deep voice broke the silence
“thank you” is all that he said
he stood up, towering over them, and cupped their cheeks in his large hands
and they were shaking a little
but definitely not as bad as earlier
his s/o’s hands shifted onto his cheeks as well
he leaned down to press his slightly chapped lips against his s/o’s soft, plump ones
and the kiss lasted a looooong time
it wasn’t like any other kisses exchanged between them before
not like the make out sessions on rainy days
or the messy kisses they shared when they were tearing each other’s clothes off, desperate to feel each other
or the small pecks before they’d go their separate ways to work
i mean, yes, it was full of love for each other, as was any kiss
to stephen, it was his way of thanking his s/o for being so amazing and taking care of him
especially with something like this
he was lucky for such a caring and loving s/o
though he could be quite selfish and rude, but never to them
to his s/o, it was their way of reassuring him that they’d always be there for him through dark times
that he always had someone to lean on
or someone who truly loves him for who he is
cliche since a lot of people only cared about his wealth and loved him for that
after the kiss, his lover suggested eating the chinese take out
and he loved the suggestion
but they had to re-heat the food
the rest of the evening, they sat on the couch, watching movies, and eating
of course, his s/o helped him a bit
and he didn’t mind it at all
he didn’t think he was being babied
he knew that his lover was just caring for him and trying to help him
he appreciated it very much
even if he didn’t show it very well
though he might know a way to show his appreciation later, if you know what i mean ;)
he was very thankful to have someone as kind and loving as his s/o
and to have someone who could deal with his life and listen to him spill his thoughts
as far as he knew, he was going to keep them around for awhile
