THAT CONFESSION SCENE

That was a real confession. Sherlock said “I love you” not once, but twice. The first was purely because Molly made him. It (his tone) was harder, no emotion but desperation to save her. The same desperation John and Mycroft were feeling, that Mrs. Hudson and Lestrade would’ve been feeling if they’d known.

But the second time.

The second time was real.

It was quiet. It was gentle.

It was a realization.

Before he said “I love you,” Sherlock Holmes didn’t know. Or he just refused to admit it to himself.

But when he said “I love you,” everything changed. He was remembering who he was before Redbeard. He was realizing that he could be human. That he has a human heart beating in his chest. That he loved his brother, loved his best friend, loved his landlady, loved his parents, loved his Detective Inspector.

And in that moment, he realized.

He LOVED his mortician. His Molly.

So he told her again.

So he whispered “I love you.”

The first time was acting.

The second time was a confession.

A confession to himself.

A confession to her.
