“Oh, it’s okay–” He started to say, but cut himself off when he saw the tears in the girl’s eyes. Though a complete stranger, he couldn’t help but want to comfort the person. Tears weren’t a good look for anyone, in his opinion.

“Is everything alright?” He kneeled to stare at her from below, concern written all over his face.

Everything wasn’t alright, but it was always easier just to say it was. That’s what people expected. No long discussions about how life is difficult. No one telling you that everything is going to be fine even though you already know that. The ideal answer, ‘I’m okay’. 

“I....” She took a step back, hiding her face with her sketchbook. “J-just... Something just got in my eye... I’m fine.”
