i always love hearing dodie’s perspective of her songs compared to what i assume they mean. sometimes i assume she says something as a way of showing it’s wrong, but sometimes she’s actually being serious.

with cool girl i fully thought she was making a point of how damaging it is that the perception of being easy-going and a good partner is based on letting things go and not communicating your needs and that acting differently will push ppl away. especially growing up being encouraged not to be as vocal abt your feelings.

but in dodie’s new video she suggests that she fully thought she needed to act that way and that she has now learned that it’s not true
