The Philosophy That Connects Us. (Chapter 2.)
Respect the Person, not the Religion.
I will respect you if you practice virtue, but if your soul reflects your far from benevolent god, then we have no business being acquainted.
This statement stated above is targeted at all religions, but in this chapter we will be focusing on the Abrahamic faiths. Before I get someone in the comments telling me that I should study the bible before making these claims, I was raised in a religious household, and went to a Christian school, my experience provides my knowledge and I will not be discredited simply due to noncompliance. Within the Christian faith, I have found much judgement, as many of have. The clouded judgement of many believers in their faith results to abuse of faith and authority, the indoctrination of generations before and generations to come, the twisting of the innocent mind from the curiosity and emotion that makes us human, into what I like to call; a โdesolate heap of stupidity.โ As opposed to Christianity as I am, I must admit that some of their teachings are in fact good, but the thing that they call the Father, or God, is by far the most evil being I have encountered in my studies. To draw a comparison, the god of the bible is most like an abusive, gaslighting parent. Here are my arguments for my claim:
1. Humans/ godโs children, are created for the deityโs own greed for glory, not for the love of creation and for wanting children to love and nurture.
We see throughout the Bible that god acts like we would expect an abusive parent to act. Through constant genocides of people, and the threat of eternal damnation for the simple act of non belief. Many believers say that this is an adequate consequence, but they are wrong, it is not a consequence, it is Illogical punishment.
What is the difference between consequence and punishment? Consequence is necessary of the world to work, but punishment in this case is an abuse of power. Letโs draw some examples and comparisons between god and an abusive parent.
An abusive parent has children for their own gain, not for truly wanting children. The ability to control what the child does, believes and โwantsโ is what the narcissistic and abusive parent wants.
The god of the bible portrays such selfishness through the creation of humans being for his own glory. The desire of obedience and worship is narcissistic. And once faced with a boundary, or in this case, non-belief, the deity will be enraged. Like a child playing with toys, it casts the unwanted โtoyโ to the depths of all the other โfailuresโ. In this case the tantrum throwing child is God. He is both abusive parent and insolent child. Both want constant and utter control, when faced with defiance, they lash out. This is immature behavior for what many call benevolent and patient. Your so called god is not kind, is not merciful and sure as hell isnโt a god worthy of worship.
