Hey, so, I used to be a "mean" "pro harassment" antishipper and I can confidently say it did not benefit my mental health and it did not help give my abuser actual consequences. Behaving like this and being like "I don’t owe you kindness you deserve to die!!!" Is literally a trauma response and defense mechanism and it doesn’t fucking benefit anyone.

So before promoting shit like this just remember you are encouraging trauma survivors to fester in negativity and make their mental health worse. ESPECIALLY antis who kin characters who do behave like this in their source media.

You’re allowed to process your trauma in however way you want but you cross a fine line when you start putting that shit on other people. This sounds harsh but your trauma is not other people’s responsibility.

(I’m still an anti btw before people talk shit, I just realized that I wasn’t being mysterious or edgy, I was being a dick)

sorry to vent I just. haven’t really felt free to vent anywhere else lmao. so tw for talks of incest. in my primary fandom incest is really common. like 6/10 of the top ten ships on ao3 are between siblings or cousins.

I’m not even an avid anti, I don’t go around telling people to stop shipping it because I know they’ll just say some shit like “you know what? I’m gonna ship them even harder!!1!” so I try to just filter out these ships and move on. except some of these ships don’t even have established ship names so I can’t filter them out, and it’s pretty rare for the op to even tag #incest cw. so I’m stuck having to see this shit. I’m trying my best to be a “ship and let ship type” but I at the same time I feel like I’m going insane why the FUCK am I the only one who knows that incest is inherently abusive and seeing portrayed as uwu wholesome is super fucking aggravating

I’m friends with some of these shippers, and a lot of them have been pretty respectful to me, not bringing it up in conversations with me. but sometimes I have to remind myself about how my best friend gets off to brothers fucking and I want to hurl. I won’t leave her over it, she’s otherwise a super great person, but That is always there in the back of my head

Hi everyone, just a tip here. If someone says it's a coping mechanism, remind them that coping mechanisms can be maladaptive. They are not exempt from being criticized. Someone can cope with anxiety by self harming. Hurting yourself or desensitizing yourself to harm to others is not justified by your useage.

As a fan of horror, its always good to resensitize yourself to how bad things are and be considerate of how others feel about things. If you realize you could probably see a corpse and be unaffected, you need to resensitize. Same with any dark or horrible thing. You need to be self aware.
