Cranky from the heat, the kidnapping, the torture, witches and bullshit, Dean angrily gets his shovel from the trunk of the Impala, tosses one extra to Sam and orders Cas to just stay out of his way.
“I’ll do it my fucking self,” he grumbles, stalking past Cas and Sam.
“I wish you wouldn’t treat me like that.”

Cas gets hit with a truth spell and while annoying and inconvenient, it facilitates some important conversations.
Since it seems like Dean and Cas are always talking past each other or incapable of saying what really matters when it really matters, maybe a truth spell would be just what the doctor ordered for these two. After all, there's a lot that Cas has been keeping to himself, and maybe it's best that Dean know about it. Of course, some secrets have the power to wreck entire friendships, so maybe it's best that they not be shared.
This fic explores the comedic side of a truth spell (and it's hilarious to see Cas lose every bit of his inhibition and become even blunter than he already is) as well as the pathos of it. Cas' deepest desires and secrets are pulled out of him, sometimes unwillingly, and though it works out for him in the end, the story doesn't shy away from how scary it is for Cas.
This fic is a great look into both Dean and Cas' psyches and how they relate to each other. They're both so completely devoted to each other that not even the truth can tear them apart!
