after her father’s death, the palace of justice in paris, which had been used by claude frollo to imprison and torture any romani peoples that he arrested, is seized and essentially turned into a ghost town, unused, now rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of its former prisoners. upon graduating from auradon prep, claudine petitions the crown to seize back control of the palace in her name, and shows the councils her plans for the place. but she is initially rejected, many too mistrusting of her connection to the place through her father.

not willing to give up on this, she turns to the internet to aid her cause. she creates a website for her cause, a petition to sign and a page defining exactly what she wants to do with it. to turn the palace of justice, a place once used to torment and kill innocent people, into a shelter and crisis center for at-risk youth. on this same page, she details the shame she lives with every day in being related to such a cruel and vile man, and to feeling like she owes it to everyone he’s hurt to be better, and to turn the palace of justice into a that helps people, not hurt. the website goes viral, and thousands of signatures pour in, and public support rallies to give her ownership of the palace of justice in order to turn it into a safehouse for youth just like her.

king ben happily overrules the council and grants ownership of the palace of justice to claudine, and even helps set up a donation center to fund the project. claudine gives her everything to this cause until the day she dies.
