Very slowly using two fingers, Annabeth drew her dagger. Instead of dropping it, she tossed it as far as she could into the water. (…) Annabeth tried for a dumb-blonde smile, like: Oh, silly me. Nobody who knew her would have been fooled. But Octavian seemed to buy it. He huffed in exasperation.

`…hoo boy,`
if he wasn’t nervous before–he was now. jason tries to settle that, use the nerves to make himself work more determinedly.
then he spots someone else, and his jaw drops of it’s own accord.
`–who’s that?`
he’s staring at a girl walking by quite quickly with ‘flaming valez’; dark hair, tugged into braids, grinning ear to ear mischievously.
Calypso tried not to chuckle at his dumbfounded expression. Of course, she thought. “That’d be Piper– we used to work together, but now she’s the main illusionist. I moved to the tightrope.”
“She’s also ringleader-alternate, though Reyna has never once needed her to step up. She and Valdez are best friends, since long before they joined.” And that didn’t make her the slightest bit jealous. Not at all.
( romanstorm ) from here
`hands-on experience is the best way to learn, and if any of your fighting is to be applicable or even useful outside here–then, no–simpler won’t be an option for you out there. i know it seems a little–ah, rough, to begin with, but i assure you, i can handle this. as can you, so, if you’d humour me now–i’d appreciate it.`
not for one second does jason drop his defensive stance; angling his sword so that it was ready to block any force that she could hit with.
and then, he remembers his manners; and that he’s talking to a goddess.
`please, lady calypso? i promise this will help.`
So much pleading was clearly not necessary, but under the circumstances, Calypso was truly thankful for all he was doing on her request. He was truly an honorable, patient hero.
Without uttering a single word, she straightened up a bit, nodding ever so slightly before stepping forth, her grip on the sword as tight as ever as she swung down the blade in an angle, aiming for his left.
The weight of the weapon was foreign to her, but it did not feel as heavy as she had feared– as overwhelming as she thought it’d be, despite her initial clumsiness with the particular article.
jason has absolutely no idea if gods can get sick. technically, she IS a goddess--so, he remains respectful in how he speaks to her, now. `ah--lady calypso? look, i know it's none of my business, but--you look really exhausted. have you been sleeping okay?`
Calypso initially took it as a personal offense, “Wha– of course? What do you mean exhausted–” then she sneezed her soul out.
It took the goddess a moment to recover from that, her throat definitely feeling a tad sore, and a shiver ran down her back as she wiped at her nose.
“... I have been sleeping quite alright,” Sniff. “Thank you, Jason Grace. What about yourself?”
