Oh, I’m sorry. I’m just excited. Um.. I don’t know who you are..
Nah, don't apologize. Be as excited as you want. I'm pretty excited myself. Who I am? Curtis Dawson at your service. Got a name, kid?

Why wouldn’t I be? It’s Christmas..?
I don't know. I'm trying to figure out if you're just really excited, or what? You're making some crazy faces there, man.
Merry Christmas.
You okay there, kid?
Merry Christmas, Clearwater
And more importantly, Merry Christmas, Judy. You're the best present I could ever ask for, baby.

So far it's been a pretty great day.
You, sir, are by far the happiest human I’ve encountered in months. Congratulations.
What's not to be happy about? Everything's going pretty perfect right about now.
"Judy, you're fucking perfect."

“It’s harder to navigate this town than I remember." Curtis didn't have a response. He couldn't see how the little town was hard to navigate at all. There were only a number of streets you could go down that led to shops and public places. The idea that someone found it hard to navigate puzzled him slightly. But then again, he'd been living there his entire life, he knew where everything was. He'd been navigating the entire island of Clearwater, and the waters surrounding it, since he was a child. He'd only gotten lost once, when he was seven. And that was only because he took a left too early, and ended up on the docks instead of at his friend's house. It hadn't taken him long to back track, though. He supposed it might've been hard to find his way around if he'd never been to Clearwater, or hadn't been there in a long time. But Curtis always had a hard time looking at situations through other people's eyes. The only perspective he truly grasped was his own. He was trying to get better at it. After finding out how awful he had been making Jude feel, Curtis was starting to realize what a rotten, selfish person he really could be.
He knew he was walking kind of quickly, but Curtis, surprisingly, wasn't one to take a slow leisurely walk. If he had somewhere to be, he didn't want to take all day to get there. Though he was starting to realize that life really was all about the journey, not the destination. Every once in a while he'd catch himself flying through things and he'd stop and reevaluate everything. It wasn't so bad to stop and smell the roses once in a while, he thought. Though at the moment, he had no reason to be taking his time. Besides, for all he knew, this girl urgently needed to get to the post office. "Nice to meet you, too." Curtis offered a friendly smile. Friendly. Only friendly. He needed to relax, really. He knew he was in a relationship. He knew what he should and shouldn't do. He was being far too uptight. As long as he wasn't flirting or being suggestive, he was fine.
"What brings you to Clearwater? I mean, it's kind of obvious you're not from around here." he inquired. In all actuality, Curtis was interested. Working the front desk at the inn, he met a lot of the island's visitors. He liked talking to some of them, listening to why they were on the island. A lot of them had interesting stories. Especially the wild fisherman that would come in saying they were there to find the mermaids. They came year after year, and always left empty handed. It never failed to make Curtis chuckle. They were so determined, and yet they didn't realize that they were speaking to the very creature they'd been on the look out for. Of course, it wasn't like it was obvious. It was still amusing, though. If only they knew who they were talking to, he thought. They never would, though. Curtis kept his secret close. Especially after the catastrophe that had come from telling Jude. He was just glad his boyfriend didn't remember any of it.
So far it's been a pretty great day.
Got off work early today. Found out I actually have Christmas Eve off this year. Dad swung by and we went out for coffee. And whatever entertainment they had down at the bar cancelled, so me and my guitar have a gig tonight. Pretty sure nothing can ruin my good mood right now.
Good God.
What do you want, a prize?
Someone's grumpy. No, I don't want a prize, sweetcheeks. I was just stating the obvious.
Good God.
But it could also have an adverse reaction, make you look insensitive or something.
Maybe I am insensitive? Ever think of that? I only give a shit about one person on this island.
