Ellie sat on the porch steps of an apartment building she's never been to, watching strange people walk by. She read the letter her mom had left her over and over again, wondering what she did wrong, where she went wrong. She had tears rolling down her face, the only thing she had with her was her bookbag full of school supplies and a small duffel bag full of clothes and a teddy bear her grandma had given her when she was a baby. She hugged her teddy bear tight against her chest. It still smelled like home.

James pauses at the top of the steps, having just exited the building. "Are you okay?" He asks, tilting his head. His own stuffed bear is under his arm, and in the other hand is Wade's mask. Yes he was stealing Wade's mask, but why not? He'll give it back later. He just likes the design.

Ellie sniffles, quickly wiping away her tears as another kid approached. Her eyes dart to the mask in his hands. It was familiar to her. She remembered her mom mentioning that her dad was Deadpool, and that was his mask.

"W-what are you doing with my daddy's mask?"

James tilts his head and then sits next to her. "Your dad? He's my dad." James frowns. "Well sort of."

"Yeah, this is his apartment building. My mom dropped me off here. What do you mean by sort of?" Ellie quickly put the letters away in her bookbag. "You know my dad? Could you take me to him?"

"Sure. Sure." He offers her his hand. "A version of him is my dad. It's weird and I'm not explaining it."

He tucks the mask and toy into his bag. He totally wasn't also stealing knives.

"What's your name, by the way? My name is Ellie Camacho. My mom calls me cutie, though." Ellie smiled as she took the other boy's hand, standing up. She grabbed her bags and let him lead the way to find her dad.

He starts down the steps, wearily because he really doesn't like stairs. "James Winston. Or just James. Sometimes Jane." He shrugs.

"Why sometimes Jane?" Ellie asked, following James down the steps and down the sidewalk, her arms hugging her teddy bear tight against her.

"I'm gender fluid. So sometimes I identify as female." He scoops her up and out of the way of a drunk driver.

"Oi! Fuck you!" He yells after the guy, who's now being followed by the police.

Ellie squeals in surprise when she's scooped off her feet, dropping her teddy bear in the process. She tries to catch the teddy before it hits the ground and gets run over by a police car chasing the drunk driver that nearly hit her. She starts crying, wiggling out of James's arms to pick up her shredded teddy bear, hugging what's left in her arms.

"M-my mommy left me. She didn't want me anymore. I don't know why. But I guess she thinks my dad is good enough to take care of me. Is he good?" Ellie shakily asks through more tears.

"He's good." He gently takes the teddy bear and stitches it back up. "Sorry about the toy. Some people are assholes when they drive, didn't want you to get hurt."

Ellie sniffles and nods. "You've met my daddy? What's he like? My mom says he's a deadbeat. Owes her lots in child support...Whatever that means." Ellie shrugged as they walked down the sidewalk.

James hands the mended toy back to Ellie. "He's really nice. Saved me from death." He frowns. "Your mom seems mean. I don't think Wade would be a deadbeat if he knew about you."

“He doesn’t know about me? I…I wrote him letters. Mom said she’d send them to him. I drew him pictures!” Ellie teares up again, trying not to cry as she hugged her teddy. “A-are we almost there? I wanna see daddy.”

"He moves around a lot." He picks her up again, carrying her and her teddy and her bag. "We'll be there soon."

Ellie squeaked as she was picked up, holding onto James tight. "Do you think he'll like me?"

"I think he will." He nuzzles Ellie's cheek.

“So you said my daddy is your step-dad or something? Who’s your parents?” Ellie smiled.

"Your dad is a variant of my dad. Both of our dads are Wade. My other dad is Logan."

“Huh…neat!” Ellie grinned, glancing around her surroundings. She definitely was a lot farther away from where her mom had dropped her off. “Are we almost there? I’m getting hungry!”

"We are almost there." He pulls a granola bar from his bag and offers it to her.

Ellie grabbed the granola bar and frowned. She wasn’t a huge fan of granola, but James was being nice and giving her food, so she accepted and opened the wrapper, eating the bar slowly. “Fank yoo”

James smiles. "You're welcome." He sets her down outside of an apartment.

“Is dis the apartment?” Ellie looked up at James nervously with a mouthful of granola. She’d never met her dad before. She reached over and grabbed his hand for reassurance. “Can you take me up there?”

"Yeah." He starts leading her up the stairs to the apartment that belonged to Wade, Wade, and Logan.

"Can ya stand off to the side?" He asks once they're outside of their apartment, giving her her stuff back.

“Uh yeah, sure…” Ellie said nervously as she followed James up the stairs, standing a few feet to the left once they approached an apartment door.

He kicks the door in. "WHAT'S UP, BITCHES!"

Ellie jumps when James kicks the door in, looking at the boy in shock. “That was a bit overkill…” she mumbled, slowly poking her head into the front door.

“Daddy?”

“JESUS FUCK!” Wade exclaimed, jumping up from the couch with baby knife drawn, only to lower his weapon and see James. “Oh…shoot. Sorry James. Welcome back! We missed you kiddo!”

Wade grinned, putting away the knife, only to stop when he heard a young girls voice behind James say “daddy?”

“Who’re you, princess?” Wade asked.

James steps to the side to reveal the kid. "This is apparently your daughter."

Logan is sitting upright, hackles raised until he realizes it's just a kid.

Original is holding a katana but quickly hides it.

“My name’s Ellie Camacho! Here, my mom told me to give you this!” Ellie quickly dug through her backpack and skipped over to prime, handing him a letter.

“Mom told me you were my daddy!”

Wade glanced from Logan, to original, then to Ellie. All eyes were on him. He had a kid? Fuck. This really was a long ass day. He took the letter, ripping open the envelope with unsteady hands.

“Dear Wade,

This is Ellie. She’s our daughter. She’s 12 years old. I’m sorry for the sudden circumstances I’m leaving you with, but I can’t take care of her anymore. I didn’t tell her the real reason for me leaving her with you, but I feel you should know. I’ve got about a month left to live. Brain tumor. It’s getting worse by the day and I can’t take care of her in my state. Please take good care of her. Don’t tell her what happened to me. I know you’d understand.

Original glances between Ellie, Wade, Logan, and James.

James is just vibing at this point.

“I…fuck. Yeah, Ellie is mine.” Wade’s voice sounded small, eyes never looking away from the letter. He glanced up at the little girl a few moments later.

“You okay?” Ellie asked as she walked over to wade cautiously, sitting down next to him.

“Yeah. I’m fine, Ellie. Just…didn’t know I had a daughter. Wanna go get ice cream and play catch up?” Wade pocketed the letter.

“Hey baby, I’m gonna take Ellie out for ice cream. I’ll be back in an hour. I love you,” Wade’s voice still shook. He was feeling anxious again, but he didn’t have time to process it all. He leaned down and kissed Logan’s cheek.

"Love you too." He shifts to kiss Wade as well but Wade is already too far away. He pouts a bit but it's fine.

James tilts his head. "Want to leave your stuff here, Kid?"

Original looks a bit confused but he does move towards James.

“Yeah! I love ice cream! Strawberry is my favorite! What’s your favorite kind?” Ellie grinned, getting up off the couch, grabbing onto Wade’s hand.

Wade was still in his pajamas, but he didn’t even have the energy to change.

“Moose tracks” Wade smiled softly, letting Ellie drop off her bags before they walked out of the apartment.

She read the letter her mom had left her over and over again, wondering what she did wrong, where she went wrong. She had tears rolling down her face, the only thing she had with her was her bookbag full of school supplies and a small duffel bag full of clothes and a teddy bear her grandma had given her when she was a baby. She hugged her teddy bear tight against her chest. It still smelled like home.

James pauses at the top of the steps, having just exited the building. "Are you okay?" He asks, tilting his head. His own stuffed bear is under his arm, and in the other hand is Wade's mask. Yes he was stealing Wade's mask, but why not? He'll give it back later. He just likes the design.

Ellie sniffles, quickly wiping away her tears as another kid approached. Her eyes dart to the mask in his hands. It was familiar to her. She remembered her mom mentioning that her dad was Deadpool, and that was his mask.

"W-what are you doing with my daddy's mask?"

James tilts his head and then sits next to her. "Your dad? He's my dad." James frowns. "Well sort of."

"Yeah, this is his apartment building. My mom dropped me off here. What do you mean by sort of?" Ellie quickly put the letters away in her bookbag. "You know my dad? Could you take me to him?"

"Sure. Sure." He offers her his hand. "A version of him is my dad. It's weird and I'm not explaining it."

He tucks the mask and toy into his bag. He totally wasn't also stealing knives.

"What's your name, by the way? My name is Ellie Camacho. My mom calls me cutie, though." Ellie smiled as she took the other boy's hand, standing up. She grabbed her bags and let him lead the way to find her dad.

He starts down the steps, wearily because he really doesn't like stairs. "James Winston. Or just James. Sometimes Jane." He shrugs.

"Why sometimes Jane?" Ellie asked, following James down the steps and down the sidewalk, her arms hugging her teddy bear tight against her.

"I'm gender fluid. So sometimes I identify as female." He scoops her up and out of the way of a drunk driver.

"Oi! Fuck you!" He yells after the guy, who's now being followed by the police.

Ellie squeals in surprise when she's scooped off her feet, dropping her teddy bear in the process. She tries to catch the teddy before it hits the ground and gets run over by a police car chasing the drunk driver that nearly hit her. She starts crying, wiggling out of James's arms to pick up her shredded teddy bear, hugging what's left in her arms.

"M-my mommy left me. She didn't want me anymore. I don't know why. But I guess she thinks my dad is good enough to take care of me. Is he good?" Ellie shakily asks through more tears.

"He's good." He gently takes the teddy bear and stitches it back up. "Sorry about the toy. Some people are assholes when they drive, didn't want you to get hurt."

"We are almost there." He pulls a granola bar from his bag and offers it to her.

Ellie grabbed the granola bar and frowned. She wasn’t a huge fan of granola, but James was being nice and giving her food, so she accepted and opened the wrapper, eating the bar slowly. “Fank yoo”

James smiles. "You're welcome." He sets her down outside of an apartment.
