the opening to episode one of the summer hikaru died is so cruel btw. intercutting yoshiki’s frantic search for hikaru with hikaru reaching out for nounuki-sama, making it seem like yoshiki was just this close to finding him in time. and then you learn he never had a chance of saving him at all, because hikaru was already long dead by the time the search started

Unpopular opinion: while I love Yoshiki's character growth, I kinda miss the kind, sweet, accepting and gentle Yoshiki and I hope that he hasn't lost these traits bc he doesn't need to be a badass protagonist, this is not a battle shonen. I'm looking forward to his reunion with "Hikaru" and I hope it's gonna be very emotional.

The fact that Hikaru let "Hikaru" fall in love with Yoshiki like he once did.

He lent him his body, his memories, his place.

He put him in all conditions that once led him to falling for Yoshiki.

And he did. "Hikaru" fell in love, maybe even deeper than Hikaru did.

The legend says that Nounuki-sama steals the lover from an Indou.

But in TSHD the monster is purposefully given the opportunity to fall in love with the lover of an Indou boy. And it's pure, selfless love. Just as selfless as Hikaru was.

Yoshiki and Nakamura sharing a VA is so funny, because I'm pretty sure their VA spent more time crying, wailing, screaming and freaking out while voicing the gay boy from the wholesome slice-of-life anime than he did voicing the gay boy from the horror anime with literal demons.

The recent episode of Go For It Nakamura has been a gut punch and the fact this aired around Pride Month just makes this hurt even more.

Kudos to the animation and art direction team for showcasing Nakamura’s grief in such a heartbreaking manner.
