hi everyone! i know it’s been a while since i disappeared, but long story short: i spilled water on my laptop and it died. i literally just got a new laptop today, & i’m not even sure if i’ll be keeping this one yet or returning it for a different one. all my data was lost, which means all my da3 saves, all my screenshots, and all my icons.

i’m going on a hiatus for right now, because not only do i need to get all my technical problems under control but also my health problems. sorry for disappearing, and sorry for taking a hiatus, but hopefully i’ll be back soon because i really miss rping???

OK SO i ended up not being able to get to the rest of my drafts yesterday. they’re still sitting there and i’m debating on dropping or not??? idk yet. i’ll figure it out. i haven’t been in school in over a week so my brain is just super ??????? right now.

Her voice is muffled through the heavy scarf bundled around her face, a shimmering heat-haze of magic surrounding her to melt any snowflake that dares come within a foot of her body (which, in the Emprise, amounts to a lot of snow, as the sodden ground around her attests.) 

“I think that’s an excellent idea! We can dig into the Inquisition’s coffers a bit for you - get yourself some ink while you’re there, maybe? Or are piercings more your thing?”

    “ oh, i’m not much of a piercings person. the less holes in my body from        pokings or  stabbings, the  happier  i am.  ink, on the  other  hand, i am        always in need of. ”

    she glanced at the map in her hands, a good half of it littered with marks and notes     and the other half blank. not by choice, no -- but she’d estimated wrong and didn’t     bring nearly enough ink for her and the other scouts all together.

    “ do you think we could splurge and get me a new set of quills, too? i’ve       seen miss montilyet use some really nice ones. ”

                     For a moment, he’s afraid it might be because of HIM—                      a reasonable concern, considering how much sweat                      one works up traipsing across land, fighting enemies.

But there’s an even more simple answer, thank goodness, and although he’s still worried in regards to his own stench, it’s a reply that makes him seem less like an unhygienic mess.

    ‘relief’ was an understatement. harding was momentarily concerned that     she was going  to  need to have a talk with her fellow  scouts  and agents     about personal hygiene.

    knowing it was actual wyvern shit didn’t lessen the stench, however.

    “ i’ve made camp in some questionable places, but this one takes the       cake. are you sure there aren’t more wyverns skulking around some-       where? ”

Though Varric’s said the same thing            thousands of times. ‘Hawke, you make me crane my neck to look up at you!            It’s killing me just as badly as the Carta would like to.’ Seems to be the usual            complaint when I speak to dwarves.”

    “ the carta may not be out to kill me, but i can agree with the sentiment.        although, i guess you  must have it bad  too. looking down must be as        bad as looking up. but all debates of  height  aside, i’m scout harding,        and it’s an honor to meet you. ”

“You already did very well anyway,” he assured and reached out to take the papers. Someone had to take this kind of risks, and  Lace Harding was formidable at it. They trusted her… but for how much longer? Samson’s eyes narrow and he hands over a small vial of a bitter, red liquid. This terrible leash he held, like the chantry liked to do.         “You know what to do then, Lace. Get someone else to do your part…         and limit yourself to keeping me in check of all your missions, and         whatever else reaches your ears. If you cannot go alone, then make         yourself companions with the right loyalties. I will make sure you will          be provided the lyrium for that.”

    hands tremble harder as harding takes the vial and clutches it to her     chest like a lifeline. shame burns as much as the lyrium does going     down  --  this reliance  isn’t  something she would  wish  on  anyone.     she’ll hold  off  as long  as  she can  on  drinking it.  the trip  back  to     skyhold would be enough of a distraction.

    “ thank you, ser, ” she says quietly. “ a scout has been hinting that        she’s known, but -- hasn’t told anyone. i think she’s interested, but        i’m worried that when she  learns  about taking lyrium...  the more        negative effects are about all we’re told of in the inquisition, so she        may not ... understand. ”

“Dreadful things. One would think a Knight like myself would manage spiders with how he’s handled the monstrous bugs lurking in Blighttown… but spiders. The way they just- curl up like that. I can’t help but feel ashamed for getting all up in arms about this- but they have eight– and most of them are up at the moment, aren’t they? Ahahahahahaha!”

    “ most of them ... are ... oh. ” ( she isn’t quite sure how to respond to that -----  except by sighing and trying to hide an amused smile. )

    “ well, consider me jealous. thinking so much you fall asleep --        that’s a talent. but -- you’re alright, then? the only wounded one        is the spider? and me, from that joke, but ---- ”

    “ why does this camp smell like wyvern shit? ”
