#never over the way Jack said ‘Long John Silver’ here #it wasn’t just Silver #it was /Long John Silver/ #the big bad wolf #who would kill anyone who crossed him #and anyone who crossed his captain #the man with whom people thought he almost shared one mind #I have to wonder how much of the legend Jack bought into #because he’d met Silver already #just the man #and yet it really seemed here as though he was talking about the man who existed mostly in other people’s minds and fears #I just find it fascinating as a subtle example of the way the legend of Long John Silver took hold and spread #even amongst the people who knew him [via @old-long-john]
