suledinharillen:
“Complicated,” she echoes, almost smiling with memories of her own youth. “I am too old to pretend I understand the appeal of ‘complicated.’”
She is no old maid, but she’s long past the age where ‘complicated’ sounds more tiring than thrilling. Too many affairs with women who could not say the word ‘love’ not even if she paid them. Simple is best, though hard to come by in Halamshiral.
Adélaïde narrows her eyes, trying to discern the expression upon his face. He seems bitter for someone so young. Perhaps the world wears the youth down quicker than when she was a girl, or perhaps she has just forgotten what it is to be that age. “That is when you ask for it,” she says, firm but not cold. “There are too many masks in Orlais, it can be difficult to tell a noble struggle from a cry for help.” Too often it becomes clear only in hindsight, and that is how they lose people. “We do not have much, but never too little to not offer a thing.” She gestures towards the gloves, two coppers still held between bare fingers.
He smiles thinly, then shrugs in an almost boyish answer. By now, he deserved better, deserved to be loved wholly and openly without fear of persecution. Bedic isn’t getting any younger, and he thought the time away from Val Royeaux would warm him up. Instead it left him tired. One mess right after the other. What a life he lead.
Bedic was expected to ask when he needed help, but no one ever taught him how. Suffer in silence, no one needed to know his troubles. He nods anyway, frustration melting away unlike the ice around his feet. “It’s been... a trying few months.” He says. The more accurate word would be years, but he doesn’t feel like bothering her with the details.
“Maybe I should leave Orlais.” He says, staring at his gloved fingers. It wouldn’t be better, he knows this. Orlais is his home, even if it’s rotten to the core. What would he even do after he left?

He had very few requirements for an apartment. Cheap rent, basic accessibility, and a cat lease. Zad also needed to get out as soon as he could, so he didn’t have a whole lot of options when it came to apartment hunting. Luckily for him, he found all of that bundled into a really nice place with a friendly sounding roommate. It was a little farther from his workplace than he’d like, but transportation wasn’t a big deal in the city. So, after a few phone calls and arrangements, Zadkiel was about to move into a very nice loft
Zadkiel didn’t know the guy, they’d only talked on the phone and through email. It was per his request they meet at the lobby so he could learn where the place was without getting lost. He didn’t have very much, his cat inside the carrier and an overlarge backpack of things. What he didn’t need, he sold off and was left with a duffle bag of mostly cat stuff and several changes of clothes. Not like he couldn’t buy more later. It still made for awkward navigation, and an even more awkward message to the guy he was downstairs.

@cvrnunnos / BEDIC!
“I’m sorry that got dicey. I take full responsibility.” Tone is much the same as ever — airy and polite, even kind, but so distant and strange that it may be difficult to read. But behind it lurks real distress; she is not naive enough to think that none in service to her shall ever suffer or die, but she needn’t LIKE IT. She is good and merciful at her core, no matter how frightening she may be. “I assure you that in the future, I will be far more careful.”
“Well,” He says. “I guess it could have gone worse.” He says that, as if trying to pretend that didn’t just happen. Bedic could have died. That would have been way worse, total day ruiner. For him, at least. Bedic still couldn’t tell if she gave a shit about him. “I uh, appreciate that.”

﴾ ➼ ﴿ Cyrran’s eyes widened at hearing this explanation. ❝You were one of them— My apologies, I did not recognize you,❞ he admitted, sheepish. He had never met so many people, seen so many faces, as he did when he became the Herald. It brought him some shame when many he had previously helped would explain how they came to join or feel grateful towards him, that he couldn’t even remember their faces. But he supposed it was never too late to get to know someone. ❝If anyone gives you trouble here, do let me know. Everyone is equal in the Inquisition. At least… it is certainly supposed to be.❞
He shrugs, the barest gesture of acknowledgment. “I’m just one elf, can’t expect you to remember everyone.” He hadn’t even seen the Inquisitor, then. “’cpecially the ones stuck sick.” He spent weeks ill. Technically, Bedic would never be “better”.
“No one is equal,” Bedic says, crossing his arms tightly together. “History taught us that much.” The elves. Funny how people only remembered what was convinient to them. “I appreciate it, I’m not ungrateful for the work here.”
why have a multi when i just make this blog all about bedic

﴾ ➼ ﴿ ❝Well… I’ll certainly give you that one,❞ Cyrran mused, thoughtful. It was both ridiculously stupid and also ironic, considering many humans considered elves pretty to look at. Apparently that did not involve them actually doing anything other than standing around. ❝And no, I will not ask you to do that.❞ He laughed briefly, sinking into a chair beside him. ❝So, you come to Skyhold in your own time… why, exactly?❞
Bedic laughs. “Your loss.” He hadn’t been serious anyway. Bedic didn’t think he was allowed to call himself an actor, anymore. It had been a while now... Bedic sobers, shaking his head. “The Inquisition cleared out Sarhnia.” He explains, as if it cleared up everything. Tons of people joined the Inquisition because they were saved. Why would his story be any different ? “I was... one of those miners, but I’m not from the village.” He still had the misfortune of getting stuck. “Thought I could do better work here. Better pay, for slightly better mutual respect.”
@cvrnunnos ( tamlen ) liked for a starter!
❝ quick. i think if we go now we’ll be able to get away with not doing any chores for today. ❞ there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a little bit of rebellion is there? it’s been quite some time since their last. ❝ what’d you say? come with me? ❞
“Say no more.” & with that he picks himself off the ground to lean over & whisper conspiracy. “Where are we going ?” They both just got so busy these days, with their own respective training and what-have-you. It would be nice for them to just sit and have a break together every now and then.
@warboytroy bullied me into picking up my tablet again

﴾ ➼ ﴿ ❝I have never known elves to act. Bards make sense to me, in a way… but not actors.❞ Cyrran leaned against a post in the Harold’s Rest, peering down at the seated man with a curious glint in his eye. ❝And you are certainly a ways from Val Royeaux. I hope someone didn’t think to tell you we’d be putting on plays here at Skyhold.❞
“That’s because the shems would rather tape carrots to their ears than hire an elf.” & he certainly hadn’t forgotten the last play about Andraste that had been commissioned. A riot, in more than one way. “I came to Skyhold in my own time. I haven’t been in the theater for weeks.” He grins. “Unless you want me to recite something for you, but that ain’t cheap.”
“It’s a human tradition! Isabela taught me. We’ll need some salt, though, and a lime– or, I wonder if a lemon will do?”

“That sounds like a terrible idea.” But Tamlen lived off terrible ideas. “Obviously, you have to tell me about it.”

It wasn’t as if Bedic didn’t have a soft spot in his heart for his first plays ( he did ), it was something else to show them to someone whom he mildly had an interest in. Romantically or platonically. But… his first play wasn’t something he cared to remember. Too close to old regrets, even if his past pain had been helped.
“I played the Duke’s servant, in this one.” He says, pointing to the character in the list. It had been originally written as a minor role. His friend had convinced the author to write the part bigger, & Bedic to take the place par request of the director. He’d have gotten nowhere if it wasn’t for her… “He was originally meant to be completely silent, but I guess the author decided to change his mind.”
not to be nsfw on main but i can’t wait to feel worthy of love
