To summarise her and her family in a few points, she’s one of three children of Reginald and Mary Cattermole. Her father works in the Ministry of Magic and when taken over by Death Eaters her mother Mary was to be tried by the Muggle-born registration commission leaving her and her siblings Maisie and Alfred frightened if their mother would ever return home. Although they got through this the experience it left her mother eternally scarred emotionally and unable to leave their home or work ever again.
Most of Ellie’s childhood revolved around taking care of her mother, everyone always seemed to be on edge around her and her ongoing paranoia that the Death Eaters will be back to get her. It left even Ellie constantly worrying who she surrounds herself with. She grew up to be quite the loner, yet also very ambitious and with a severe desire for control of her surroundings. Ellie always wanted to know what will come next and trusting someone other than her siblings proved to be quite the challenge for the young witch. She got really into divination as a source of potentially predicting the future so that she has more security. A strict believer in rituals and routine she’ll do whatever she can to prevent any risks of her or her family’s safety.
Overall she has a quite cool and quiet demeanor, more of a wallflower, but still not afraid to speak up when needed. All the fear her mother has embedded in her mind shifts to anger occasionally which is why she doesn’t support the revolution - out of fear. She can’t imagine how she’d live in a world where all the people that were ready to murder her mother would roam free. She suppresses her anger and opinions though, although they often build up to cause catastrophic events that even she can’t fully control.
To the people she’s close with she’s very reliable and would do anything for the person, but tends to stray from people that attract too much attention as she’s not one of those legacy families and no one knew their name or what they went through and she’d rather keep it that way. Her straying from other people led to her being very good academic wise even prompting to become a prefect. At first glance a very stoic uptight girl with a lot of demons just waiting to let loose.
That’s pretty much it for Ellie background wise, I won’t get too much into her family until I get her siblings on board, but this is her overall view of the situation and her personality. I would absolutely LOVE for any kind of plot whether it is platonic, romantic or rivalry. There’s a lot you can do with her as she hides a lot beneath the surface and like a toxic attraction with someone that’s the opposite of her would be bomb af and just anything really so let’s figure out some angsty stuff together!!
