Start With Source Control

A professional should inspect accessible components, protect the home, use suitable collection equipment, and avoid damaging flexible ducts or internal insulation. If moisture, filtration bypass, return leakage, or an active pest problem caused contamination, correct that source as well.

A device with a strong fan and suitable filter can improve particle removal in a room, but placement, noise, filter cost, and run time matter. Avoid ozone-generating products in occupied spaces. No air cleaner replaces carbon monoxide alarms, smoke alarms, source control, or repair of a combustion problem.
UV devices may help control biological growth on specific HVAC surfaces when correctly designed and maintained. They do not remove dust, repair leaks, or replace filtration.

Seek help when you find persistent moisture, visible growth over a significant area, sewage contamination, combustion concerns, repeated condensate overflow, damaged ducts, or severe odors with an unknown source.
