Rhys was not at all expecting to turn the corner and meet up with Sage so soon but that did not matter too much since her joyous nature had an impact in making his mood a lot better.  He quickly obliged by closing his eyes and even going as far as to cover them with his one free hand. He was definitely curious as to what she could be doing but he enjoyed playing along with her. Not too soon after, he was met with an delicate bouquet. It wasn’t at all what he thought it could be but then again, he wasn’t sure what he thought. The girl was always full of surprises. The sentiment had brought a small smile to his face. He brushed a piece of her hair back that happened to be in her face and tucked it behind her ear, grabbing the flowers after doing so. “Glad I was on your mind, you’ve picked some very beautiful flowers.” He looked at them earnestly. “I feel bad that my surprise isn’t as thoughtful.” Rhys had told her as he remembered he had something that he planned to give her. “Now hold out your hands.” He took out a small container and gently placed it in her hands, in it was the perfect slice of strawberry shortcake. “I would have gotten you something a little better if I knew but you’ll just have to let me make it up to you later. Eating this earlier reminded me of you so the obvious thing to do was to grab you a slice as well.”

sage’s face suddenly felt a bit warm at the sudden act of rhys brushing aside a strand of her hair. you’d think she would be more accustomed to it given this wasn’t exactly rare rhys behavior with her, but still, it took her by surprise each time and made her feel a bit bashful but happy nevertheless! “oh don’t be silly, this is wonderful. i’m so happy i was in your thoughts as well.” sage beamed as she graciously accepted the gift, holding it carefully. “well since we are here, would you like to share it with me?” she asked, gazing expectantly up at the much taller boy. Her response was enough to brighten his smile. "I'll take you up on that offer." Rhys told her as he placed his hand on the small of her back and guided to her to a bench. "But I'll only take a bite. I'd much rather watch you enjoy it."

Rhys held out the plastic fork for her to take so she could begin eating. "Though, once you take a bite, you may not be able to stop." He gave a small chuckle at the thought.

the blonde wore a beaming smile as she met up with the boy after his shift. the girl seemed clearly enthused, viridian eyes shining with mirth. “hey! i am glad i caught you, rhys. i have a gift for you! no peaking, okay?” sage directed, feigning a stern tone when it was clear to anyone who knew her that she is was easy going as could be. “alright, here you are.” she grinned, presenting the boy with a nicely decorated flower arrangement. “i was at a nearby meadow seeking inspiration, and i thought you’d might appreciate some flowers.” ( @cxffeeandcigxrettes )
