Wolfram had sat down on a park bench. He had no particular purpose for doing so, but sitting there would usually set him at ease, he had just been buying things for his and his lady at the market. When... He heard something squeak, and then coo in pain. 

Startled, he shot back upright. 

Had he. Had he been sitting down on a dove?? Panicked, he scooped the little thing up in his hands. Only a wing seemed to be harmed.

“I think you know as well as I do that no matter what he is preoccupied with, he is always keeping an eye on me. I doubt it would take more than a graceful sway of hips and smooth long hair to truly distract a demon from its prey. Is that not why your kind considers everyone lucky that I have him on my leash?”

One hour and twenty-six minutes. Ciel clutched his cane and frowned. Speed would not be an issue, quite the opposite. How to catch the culprit red handed without making it seem the crime could have been prevented? Catching a criminal to save several lives was worth one more victim - besides, if the reapers had it listed, there was nothing he could do about it. The victim would die in his arms even if he tried to prevent it, but anyone witnessing would not know it was due to destriny and not incompetence.

“Hm?” He snapped out of his thoughts. “Oh. I believe she is called Mimsy. No last name as far as I know. Her kind rarely have one, even though we are living quite modern and strange times. Hmm, I suppose I could try convincing Sebastian… Or ordering him. But that would come with a price.”

Grelle had listened in a somewhat composed state. Until the child was using words such as bitches and pussy, that was! She visibly flinched.

❝P-p-p-p-pu-ss-.❞ she stammered in repetation and then whacked the air in front of the boy with her records.  ❝Unbelievable!! A child like you shouldn’t be using such words! What would your dear mother say, HUH??❞ she thundered, tutting her tongue and crossing her arms tightly. The affair was disgruntling for so many reasons. 

❝Mimsy!! What kind of peasant name! I HATE HER.❞ she added, bad at baring to do as much as hear about her heart throb’s affair. Why must he be so cruel! Why did his master not even bat an eye! And here she thought Sebastian was being a good father figure for the little guy. 

❝I’ll pay the price! I told you! All you need to know, you will have it, just order him that! Are we clear?❞

She briefly tip-toed to look around. Sebastian truly wasn’t anywhere near. It seemed strange! Maybe Mimsy had cursed him! A few steps around the Earl, and her hand was on his shoulder blades, ushering him forward. 

❝Chop chop, you’re staying with me. There is a hats and hair pieces store right near the scene of crime and I have been meaning to check it out! I am not leaving you out of sight! Saying such dirty words, you need a chaperone!❞

The demon often was found painting. Once the paint brush touched the canvas and its sounds whispered to him, he was lost in thought enough to drown out the hunger, drown out anything else, bringing the beauty and madness from his mind into this rotten human world. 

He still sensed the presence of the boy, though. 

❝I know you’re here.❞ he said softly, but did not turn around, still painting the colors of a morning sky.  ❝Why don’t you come here? I can use some help.❞ Finally, he leaned away, holding out the paintbrush to Finnian.  ❝That sky is missing a cloud.❞

Victor could smell the other demon from miles away, and the scent was almost as strong as though he stood right in front of him, but as he stepped inside the Earl’s study, there was only a boy seated there.

One boy, but... This was curious. Was this what kept the demon so obsessed with this charge? Obsession, it was, greed. There was nothing noble about the deals his kind made, even though they prefered pretending it was.

❝Earl Phantomhive.❞ The man’s voice was low, his frame wide. He turned to close the door a little slowly, perhaps, it would look to the child, but shadows sealed each part of it to listen or see through in the process. He could not have the other demon spy on them. 

❝A pleasure to make your acquaintance. You are said to be extraordinary. A meal worth dying for.❞ eyes cold, it would still be obvious that Victor knew.  ❝My name is Victor Johan Tandefelt and I am here to suggest a better deal. Your demon has lied to you. What is the name he uses?❞

Disgusting as it was, opportunity was opportunity. He deserved whatever came to him clearly. Unfortunate that he was slighted in this way as this beautiful gentleman seemed to be a delight in his own way.

Aleistor glanced at the brat. For a boy, he was cute, almost like a little bird. His heart clamped. If his bladder had not been such a pressing issue he would have probed more, tickled his beautfy out more, engaged in-- but like that, he just gasped, gesturing in indignation.  ❝I did ask nicely, my sweet! Clarence had not been able to tell whether the partner he had assigned was a boy or a girl, but he supposed they were male. He wished he would have known more about Germans or their culture to prepare himself for the small coop mission he had been assigned to. He had a few jokes up his sleeves.

But then the other reaper appeared. His pun had to come fast! He fixed his glasses by pushing them back, and eyed hid partner.  ❝How does the recipe for German chocolate cake begin?❞ he started out, but then realized that his new partner was a girl. He hadn’t chosen a pun about baking to be sexist! He never interacted with girls!

 Clarence had watched over the market place in front of him. He was a little early for the scheduled death, and had allowed for himself to get caught up in watching over the living as though he was still part of them. Still, he had not expected anyone to speak to him, and he startled, taking a few steps back to look at the boy. He was wearing a blindfold, so how did he identify him? 

Was he the person that was to die? No. No, that person wasn’t this young. 

❝A man with socks...❞ Was it possible he was speaking of Othello? Not that he had much to do with that mad lad, but he couldn’t think of anyone else wearing that combination. He straightened up. ❝Not friends, no.❞

❝Who are you? How can you see me?❞ he would have to report to head quarters right away. ❝Are you Othello’s friend?❞
