“don’t let it get into your head–i was just telling the truth,” valentina brushed it off, suddenly feeling a little shy all over again as she took another sip from her coffee. and that seemed to have been the wrong decision since his next words almost made her choke. her eyes widened comically as she looked at him, wondering if he was kidding or not. as he continued to express his thoughts, she realized that he might actually be serious and the actress was stunned. “you want to go out on a date? with me?” questioned the brunette incredulously with a little tilt of her head. it was almost as if she couldn’t quite believe it because of the rumors surrounding him, but she should know by now that his reputation wasn’t probably all true. normal–could they really do that?

“too late. it’s all in my head already, i don’t even need the coffee anymore.” thomas said with a grin, covered by the mug once he raised it to his mouth to drink the rest of the dark beverage. dating in their world could be the most complicated thing, so much so that sometimes fake relationships could turn into real ones and he has been involved in plenty of rumors, even though he never did much to cause them aside from being friendly. “if you want to, yes. i would... i mean, i do date, you know. it’s just hard to maintain a real, healthy relationship with our crazy schedules. even worse... when the other person is not a part of our world,” he shrugs. “we can do whatever you want. keep it simple, or not. indoors or super exposed. i really don’t care.”

“tell that to my manager–” valentina answered with a small shrug of her shoulders as she averted her eyes away from him. although she may be living her dream now that she’s in hollywood, it can also feel suffocating at times. she thought going here meant having her freedom, but her people have a different idea. sometimes, it felt like gave up one cage for another. at his question, she lifted her gaze back to look at him and tried to find the words to explain how it worked with her team. “that’s why i don’t do this, because they’d want to use it to start a dating rumor especially with someone as high profile as you,” val pointed out with a gesture of her hand.

“well... first of all, thanks,” thomas appreciated both the honesty and the compliment. some times how their world worked went right over his head, because he had always refused to do dating stunts, though he knew that was a normality that many abused of. “but why can’t we actually date? i mean... i had fun last night.” he paused, teeth nibbling onto the side of his lip. “and you didn’t throw up on me, which is another big plus on my book.” his lips pressed together. “i mean... it doesn’t have to work out. some times, it doesn’t. but we could try and be normal for once?”

apparently, the two of them are in a very different wavelength right now and valentina wasn’t quite sure how to even begin to explain the things running through her mind. she wasn’t the type of girl to do one night stands even if nothing actually happened between them. when she goes out with someone in public, it’s always someone her pr team has already approved of. taking in a deep breath before looking back at him, she told him sternly, “that’s the thing–you have that kind of reputation and i don’t. i haven’t checked my phone yet, because i’m pretty sure that my team would drag you in this mess i’ve gotten myself into.” arching her brow up, she informed him apologetically, “they’ll be talking to your team and they’re gonna want us to go out there and do some publicity stunts to douse a hookup rumor.”

“i don’t see how going home with one person, has to become such a big deal? i mean, i understand, reputation and all... but isn’t sometimes ignoring, the best possible option?” thomas was clueless how her team worked, but from what he could see, she didn’t seem to be much in control. it would be frustrating for him, if he had to explain who he screwed or not, whenever he’d be at someone else’s place. “and we did hook up. it happened. why does it have to be... so messy?” he frowned. he wanted to understand, he truly did, but he couldn’t without some further explanation.

━𝓚 “LOVE YOU SO MUCH, sap.” sometimes kelly found herself wondering how they ended up this way. their relationship started with physical attraction then the emotional connection ended up creeping up until both of them were in too D E E P to look back. maybe that was how love was supposed to be. hell if she knew, but she was down for the right. “you sound so scientific. they also look damn good in a nice push up bra, so we’ve got that going for us.” she just lead into his touch. “at least it would be C L A S S Y nudity if they allowed it.”

“that’s not helping, babe.” ry laughed, with a wrinkle raising onto his nose. sometimes he had doubts about them, doubts that he kept locked under five hundred lockers and keys, but some things were to be lived in the moment rather than thinking about the future. love was difficult to control. “i thought that was what you asked for? they also look damn good in general.” with a cheeky grin, he cups her breasts tightly once more and then moves his hands down to her waist. “classy or not, any nudity is only ending in my dm’s. not public, please.”

        SHE LOOKED mildly concerned and surprised when he admitted to not knowing much about the threat. this was certainly a first for her because most clients are aware of the threats so they know how to deal with it too. “really?” she asked, brows knitting together as she followed him. “jesus… that’s… well, that sucks shit honestly.” teri shoved her hands in the pockets of her blazer as she stood beside him, her eyes scanning the vicinity as they waited for the car. “so… it’s different from other typical threats you would get then? that’s why you need me here,” teri guessed, glancing up at him. he was several inches taller than her, but despite her somewhat small stature, she was a force to be reckoned with. “what do you mean the cops were sketchy about it? they were kinda just… brushing it off or do you think that they know more than they’re letting on?”

“that sucks shit?” he repeats, a laugh pouring out from his lips. guess she wasn’t wrong, but there was also something as blissful ignorance. social media already provided enough things to fill his nightmares; he didn’t need to see it written down in some old fashioned letter. “i bought the house like three months ago. i’ve barely settled in. i guess, yeah, it’s a little different. my address is not public information.” he informs as nonchalantly as possible, though all of that was eating him inside. privacy was the utter most important to him, yet that had already been breached. “i guess they were just following protocol or whatever... it’s just frustrating.” he shrugs, climbing onto the suv and relaxing back slightly, though his body was clearly carrying some tension. “i’m guessing you’ve my manager’s number? i bet he knows way more than he lets on around me, honestly. if you’re interested in knowing... he’s your guy.”

valentina merely rolled her eyes slightly at his words as she quipped in, “you weren’t.” however, she wasn’t about to explain herself and say that he was quite distracting since he probably knew that already. besides, they have far more important things to discuss right now. when the dreaded question left his lips, the brunette let out a sigh as her shoulders slumped a little. “we weren’t exactly that sneaky last night, so i think it might be a little too late–” she offered with a guilty expression on her face as she finally peered up at him. though she wasn’t sure since she has yet to check her phone after turning it off to avoid her managers, she’s already preparing for the worst. “i’m sorry for dragging you here last night,” came her soft apology as those striking hues locked with his. although she’s heard some of the stuff about his reputation, she still felt like she’s at fault for getting drunk in the first place and not being careful. 

that did make sense, though he almost couldn’t understand her fear or frustration, since he had stopped caring about what ended up on gossip magazines or not; that shouldn’t stop anyone from living. whilst dwelling on something, he nibbled on the inside of his cheek, with brown hues gazing over her features. it was almost impossible not to assume the worst. “what’s the big deal? i know i don’t have the best reputation out there, but... nothing happened. we made out a little but that was it. you’re welcome to share that, if that’s, helpful or whatever.” he said, with a shrug. he hadn’t been in this position in a long time, but that was also thankfully to his pr team.

“you need to seal my mouth shut.” otherwise the compliments were going to keep pouring out. with how over the top in love he was, that was inevitable. it was a thin glass and a breakable one, but he wasn’t as scared as he had been in the beginning of their relationship. with his hands cupping her breasts, there’s a smirk upon his lips, with his fingertips tweaking her nipples. “soft yet solid. all a man wants out of boobs.” he comments, refusing to move his hands away. “sounds about right. thank god instagram doesn’t allow nudity, because i don’t think i could deal with that.”

“uh thanks.” the brunette spoke as she looked up to the other from her seat. everything about the entire encounter was awkward, and to top it all off it was in front of quite the line up of other fans for her to meet. not to mention the cameras that all surrounded them as well. “thomas, what are you doing here?” her voice hushed as lorelai tried to put it all together. he’d broken her heart, more than enough to write an entire album about him. “couldn’t you have just called instead of showing up here? has your opinion changed now that i am actually getting somewhere?” 

“i tried calling, but i — i think it would be best to meet in person.” as words flow out of his mouth, her words click something in his head, which became apparent by the frown appearing across his features. “what’s that supposed to mean?” there’s an arch of his brow that follows, back straightening up, a physical defense mechanism. thomas hoped that she wasn’t going where his mind had dragged him to, as much as he could understand, it became a bit difficult to understand that she could think so low of him after everything.

         “YEAH. RICH and famous people like you,” she shrugged. “unfortunately for you, my sister is currently filming some vlog in some other country so i can’t ask her to join us.” though her sister wasn’t quite as famous as her newest client, there was no denying that tati was a rising star as a model and a vlogger and teri was very proud of her. she rolled her eyes at his words and shook her head. “like i said. i’m fine,” she insisted. at his question regarding if there’s something else she needed to know, she paused briefly. “well, while we go shopping… perhaps you can tell me more about the threats you’ve received so i know hoe to protect you better?”

“blogger, uh. perhaps some other time, then.” with his luck lately, she wouldn’t be going anywhere for quite some time. it was complete madness and almost surreal, but like everyone around him said: better safe than sorry. thomas gave up with a single shrug, walking past the woman and hoping that she’d follow suit. “truth be told, i don’t know much about it.” he chuckled awkwardly, pulling the collar of his shirt slightly. “i feel like i’m on a slim shady song, where i’m only going to find out the full truth when shit hits the fence.” his brows knit together, gaze falling down to his phone as he awaited for the car to arrive. “nothing really goes through me, aside from the letter that was left on my front door, which is why you’re here, i guess. the cops were a bit sketchy about it too.”

          DESPITE HIS initial reaction to her being his bodyguard, he seemed to be more on board now, which elated her. at least he won’t be a difficult client, she hoped now that he was more okay with the idea and didn’t seem to doubt her much anymore. teri glanced up as his manager left the two of them in the room together and the female cocked her head to the side. “i’ll take a pass on the shopping. i have had to deal with that enough with my sister,” she chuckled and shook her head. “sure, people like you and my sister would be happy with designer clothes but i am perfectly content with what i have.” her clothes may not be brand-name like many others’, but it still looked suitable enough for her profession. and again, who was she going to dress up for? teri was there to protect this musician guy and that was that. it wasn’t as if she was trying to be noticed by people after all — she didn’t care for that sort of thing at all. 

"people like me,” he repeats, with his brows furrowing slightly. “your sister sounds fun, you should invite her to come along. funny thing — you used the word content and not happy.” that was perhaps a shot in the dark, but a valid attempt, nonetheless. either way, since she’d be stuck going after him everywhere, she could at least accept his offer. male or female, he didn’t need a shadow that would make everybody around him uncomfortable. with a short, dismissive wave of his hand, he shrugs. “we should get going. one or two stores, but i won’t take long, be reassured — unless there’s something else that you need to know?”

         SHE NARROWED her eyes ever slightly at him before she composed herself. “well, the opinion of who is the best is purely subjective,” teri replied, folding her arms across her chest. “if you were to ask my previous clients, then yes, i am the best. i do my job and i do it damn well.” maybe she sounded cocky but teri was very confident in her abilities. she wasn’t a black belt for nothing nor did she win all those boxing matches growing up without gaining a sense of confidence. not to mention, all those fights she would get into when she was in high school. sure she lost some, but she won most of them. plus she takes her job very seriously and wasn’t at all laid back like the others in her agency. she frowned a little and wrinkled her nose at his words. “so… i have to wear… a dress?” she asked. “i’m your bodyguard - those people shouldn’t care about what i wear at some party. i’m there to watch your back not socialize. besides, have you tried running and fighting in a dress or a skirt?” teri countered, a hint of a smirk tugging at her lips. 

“subjective,” thomas repeats in a low voice, a brow arching as she rambled on. the bodyguard wasn’t wrong there, depending on the situation in question, but her next words reassured him enough to simply have some faith and go with his guts; though surprised at first, he didn’t doubt her. the confidence that she carried did have something to do with the quick acceptance, but that was another whole ordeal. “no, never tried running and fighting in a dress or a skirt... sadly,” he smirked, pausing for a moment as his manager excused himself to go out and take a call, which wasn’t surprising in the slightest. “i never said you had to dress girly or any less unprofessional,” his hand rested on his chest, gazing up and down her frame. “i guess all i’m saying is that, i could use some shopping. i could get a suit, you could get one too... we all live happy in designer clothes,”

when her bedroom door finally opened to reveal the male, her jaw slackened a little as her eyes dropped to the bare expanse of his chest peeking from his opened dress shirt. those sculpted abs with that handsome face? no wonder she ended up bringing him home even if she had a rule of not sleeping around with people she may end up working with. only when he has spoken did valentina finally averted her eyes away with an awkward cough as she looked back to his face. “that’s because i made some–” she replied, trying not to sound snarky but ending up like that anyways. shaking her head, she gestured towards the coffee maker with freshly brewed coffee, “feel free to help yourself and eat anything you can find in the pantry since i didn’t have time to cook breakfast.” nor was she really planning to since she’s still too worried on what her pr would say. lowering her eyes back down to her own cup, she motioned towards his shirt awkwardly as she mumbled, “do you mind?”

thomas couldn’t have missed how her gaze wandered to his exposed skin, not even if he had been under the effect of something. in reality, he hadn’t even drank all that much. his body was his temple and his temple didn’t agree with the effects of alcohol much. besides, he did quite enjoy to be able to remember most things, able to have fun in a sober state. “thanks. i’m not much of a breakfast person anyway, but i do need my coffee.” he walked past her, with the only mission of filling up a warm cup of coffee for himself; a kick start for his day. while sleepy, he’d still stick around, wondering if the two had to discuss what had happened the night before. it had been nothing but some innocent fun, but he wanted to be decent about it. with furrowed brows, he gazed back at her and then down to his bare chest. “my bad, virgin mary. i didn’t mean to offend.” he drank a sip of his coffee, buttoning up his shirt. “think i can sneak out or is it too late?”

         OH NOW she was able to put a face to the name. she remembered seeing him on her twin sister’s instagram feed once — tati thought he was cute and loved his music and teri merely shrugged and went back to the show she had been binge watching on netflix. vaguely, she could see her sister freaking out about how close she was working with thomas and made a mental note to not mention this to her in public, lest she wanted to deal with a full on freak out from the other. teri shook his hand back firmly, giving a small smile which tightened a little when she caught the way he stared at her. having experienced that sort of look before, she knew what it meant: he was surprised that his new bodyguard was a girl and thought this was some sort of joke. teri was so used to this to the point of not really letting it bruise her ego and she dropped his hand after a bit and squared her shoulders. “and i can assure you that if you speak with my employers, i am one of their best,” she said to both of the men, staring them in the eye. teri was very confident in her skills and abilities and she took her job very seriously — far more seriously than her other colleagues if she was being honest. “so, are there any particular rules and such i need to know about that wasn’t mentioned in the file?” she asked his manager. 

caught off guard, his brows knit ever so slightly to display his confusion, but his brain quickly connected the dots. perhaps he hadn’t been as smooth, but in his defense, he expected some dude that doubled his size in both height and weight. that was the normal structure of the bodyguards that he had ever found himself surrounded by, but then again, those were built to keep the fans away and overall to look scary. “one but not the best?” thomas responded with a small smile upon his lips. since the two would be spending a lot of time together, the rest of the process came down to him ; to see if she’d be able to deal with his personality or not. she didn’t have to, not necessarily, but perhaps would be better for both if she wasn’t like a walking statue after his every move. less inconspicuous the better, right? sounded right. “i don’t think so.” he said quickly, interrupting his manager’s turn. was she being serious? he was an adult there too. “my schedule tends to change a lot, but that’s about it. and, oh... i go to a lot of parties. you may wanna dress the part, if you wanna get indoors, i mean.”

with the concert now over, the brunette had practically ran off the stage. throughout the entire thing she couldn’t help but notice one person standing in the front row. the one person that she had written multiple songs on her debut album about. and she had now just sang every single one of them to the male. a quick chug of water as she’s ushered to the meet and greet, the last person she expected to see there was their ex. “what are you doing here?”

thomas had tried to seem inconspicuous throughout the whole show, but with a couple of people recognizing him, though he quickly diffused that whole ordeal, he hadn’t missed a beat and when her gaze met his, even though the spotlights were almost blinding, he knew that she had seen him. what was he doing there to begin with? that was a complicated one. nonetheless, he found himself ready to actually exchange words with her in the meet and greet, which was perhaps an odd choice to begin with, since there were other people around them. didn’t seem like he had many options though. “hey, it’s nice to see you again too. how have you been? oh, yeah, i’ve been pretty good myself.” he mocked playfully, with his hands locked behind his back. “you look good.” he stated sincerely.
