dannyxortega:
“California is pretty nice, honestly. It’s definitely not as cold as it is here. Oh, you definitely need to get to New York! It’s great!” He smiled wider, “Yeah, I do love it here.. It’ll always be home, honestly.”
“i miss california a lot. . . but chicago is such a cool place, so i try not to complain much. what do you recommend doing in new york if i may ask?”
mattybischof:
“it is very santa claus,” matty joked back with a grin. “would be helpful if all mustaches wiped off so easy.” he set his sketchbook down, followed by the pencil, and then nodded to her drink. “it’s good? what did you get?”
“why thank you. it is quite far from the long white beard, but at least it is a start.” she chuckled, dabbing her mouth with a napkin. “oh! it’s a white chocolate mocha. one of the many perfect holiday treats, in my opinion.”
rominvs:
nodding at her words, she agreed with the other female. sure having fun was the most important part but romi had a feeling that if she weren’t a good dancer she’d probably be too embarrassed to look like a fool in front of everyone. so she actually kind of admired that of cora. “right, yes. as long as you have fun and don’t care then that’s what matters right?” finishing putting on the jacket, she tugs at it looking at cora with a puzzled look. it was to expect the other would turn it down, did anybody ever would really admit they’re in no condition to go by themselves? “oh it’s no problem, really. i have somewhere to be and your place is on my way anyway…” of course that was a lie, and quite frankly romina didn’t want to leave just yet, waiting on someone else. but she also wanted to make sure cora got to her place safe, surely she had time to do so and still come back right? “come on i’ll order one for us.” she says taking the others arm.
“that’s the way i always think of it.” cora shrugged in a sluggish manner, though the grin on her face was wide. she liked to dance a lot. was she the best dancer at this party? hell no. did she have fun with it anyway? absolutely. despite all the fun she had, the night needed to reach an end at some point. she gazed at the shorter girl, eyes narrowing slightly at her words. cora couldn’t help but to feel slightly amused, realizing that the roles were now switched from the night they first met. “well, if you have somewhere to be then why not.” the brunette nodded, allowing the other to take a grip on her arm. truthfully, it wasn’t the most terrible idea to be guided at the moment. “thanks, romi....na. as long as we can split the price. you can do that with uber, right?” she inquired, eyebrows tugging together.Â
dannyxortega:
“Me too, honestly. Yeah! It was nice, not quite as cold. I was doing some work over there but I was mostly in New York.. It’s kind of nice to be back where I grew up. How are you liking Chicago? Treating you well?”
“i always thought that california had the perfect weather. haven’t had a chance to visit new york yet, but i will one day. chicago has been fantastic, there are so many beautiful parts of the city and i still discover new things even after living here for a few years.”
rominvs:
“maybe…or maybe he couldn’t find one pizza place open?” romi said, trying to mimic cora’s wording. though it was a big city, so she wondered if time was really relevant in this situation. “oh, you’re a dancer? you should’ve though, that’d been fun. did you have a good time at least?” seeing cora stand up and barely keep her balance, great part of her had a bad feeling about this. it was mostly an instinct to stand up as well. putting on a jacket she’d left by the chairs earlier before heading to the dance floor. “you’re leaving? i could walk you home if you’d like.”
eyebrows tugged together at romina’s words, a laugh following afterwards. “romi, i may be drunk off my ass right now but i know that there has to be pizza shops open in the city right now.” another laugh shot through her, though it wasn’t that funny. “well. . . i mean, i dance. not sure that it’s something i do very well, but i think having fun is the most important part.” head tilting to the side upon hearing the offer, cora shook her head. “my home is a way’s away from here, i’m just going to take an uber. not a big deal.” she stated, pulling out her phone, causing glazed eyes to widen at the brightness.Â
mattybischof:
one thing matteo had appreciated about mocha on his trip to chicago in the past was the massive bottomless cups of coffee he was able to purchase. he loved a good cup of strong black coffee, and the caffeine had never affected him terribly much, so he’d had… a decent amount of coffee in the past hour and a half that he’d been sitting at a corner table at mocha, sketchbook in hand. he paused in thought, his pencil hovering over the paper, and looked up. matty’s eyes rested on a stranger nearby. “hi,” he said to get the person’s attention. “you’ve got foam.” he gestured to his own lip and then to the person’s drink.
cora sat peacefully in the mocha coffee shop, relaxing after a full day of last minute christmas shopping. hazel hues gazed outside, people watching. wishing that snow was falling from the sky. she was surprised that it hadn’t snowed in chicago yet. cora took a long sip of her coffee, sighing contently to herself afterwards as the warm liquid settled in her belly. someone nearby got her attention, her head tipped to the side. suddenly the words sank in. “oh!” she chuckled, wiping her mouth. “yeah, i was kind of going for the foam mustache look today.”
rominvs:
going out to get some pizza seemed rather unnecessary to her when they were in a place packed with snacks here and there, but whatever, sure wasn’t her place to judge. though it seemed kind of rude from the other to leave cora behind without explanation – if that’s what happened at all. “well that sucks, maybe he lost you and decided to go and bring it back for you? i don’t know, have you tried calling him?” romi suggested, attempting to be at least a bit helpful. “oh, well snapchat sure is way more fun than uber don’t you think? oh, yes i’m having fun. but honestly i’m very tired of dancing, which is the only thing i find fun about parties so. i don’t know, was starting to consider leaving.”
“maybe. . . or maybe he just wanted the pizza all for himself. i have tried calling him, several times. but no such luck.” cora concluded, bottom lip sticking out in a pout. she nodded in agreement to romi’s statement, not giving it a second thought. “it is the funner app by far. i’m glad you’re having fun tonight, had i seen you out there on the floor i would have asked if i could steal a dance. i’ve been ready to go myself, i should. . .” the girl stood up, focusing on balance. “should probably do the same.”
dannyxortega:
“He really wanted to ask Santa for a bike.. Maybe so he could actually catch up to Santa next time.” He laughed, nodding, “I’ve been living in New York for about five years, but I was in LA working and came back here from there.”
“well i hope for his sake he gets a bike for christmas. los angeles, huh? i moved there from london when i was ten years old but i’ve been in chicago for quite some time now.”
dannyxortega:
“It’s my first day back here and I found a lost child because he ran to follow Santa but he was just chasing an old man.. So I had to sit with this boy for an hour until security found his mom.. I could use a coffee.”
“that sounds exhausting but also rather hilarious. i hope he went to see santa after reuniting with his mum. quite a way to be welcomed back. where did you come from, if you don’t mind me asking?”

astrid exhaled slowly, lips pursing together to blow at the wood shavings lingering on the object in his grasp. on slow days such as this, it would be a waste to idly sit around, waiting for what little customers his little shop drew in. so he’d taken to carving medallions out of any wood he could get his hands on – everything from the neighbor’s trash to old furniture he couldn’t seem to find use for any longer.
the chime from his front door startled him from his reverie, a very brief moment of vulnerability causing the thin blade to slide into his thumb. a small drop of blood swelled at the spot and the young man let out a hiss before pushing the digit in between his lips. “ohh – good morning.”
it was a rare occurrence when cora had a weekday off. she was always scheduled throughout the weekdays and sometimes during the weekends as well. however, she requested a personal day off. after all, those were needed every once in awhile. she planned to spend the day christmas shopping, which brought her much joy.Â
one store in particular caught her eye. curiosity always got the better of her in most situations. cora walked in, a bell ringing above her. she was greeted by a man, she assumed he was the owner. “good morning,” cora smiled, eyes trailing along the interior of the store. “how’s it going?”
ofncra:
“Glitter is the greatest gift we’ve ever been given, HONESTLY. aside from like girls and bubble baths. there is nothing that can’t be made better with glitter.”
“i actually couldn’t agree with you more. now if you have a girl plus a bathbomb that is bubbly and sparkly? that’s a concept i can get behind.”
rominvs:
at first she didn’t have a clue what cora was talking about, but still the girl’s laugh was contagious enough to have her grinning wide. even a laugh of her own filling the space between them. “a reindeer?” she asked slightly concerned, for a second occurring to her that maybe the younger girl had been on something. but as soon as she takes the phone in her hand and notices the reindeer filter on snapchat, she feels relieved. now it’s romina who’s just turned into a reindeer. quite a nice look. before handing the phone back to its owner she takes the liberty of taking a selfie with the filter on, because why not. “okay, now we’re both reindeers. are you having fun?”
laughter had been extremely present in cora’s life this evening, especially within the last half hour or so. the abundance caused her cheeks to burn, she didn’t have to look in a mirror to know that a shade of pink colored her skin. romina’s laughter only made her want to continue, but instead she took a deep breath. an attempt to calm down, though a smile was stuck on her lips as usual. she glanced down at her phone, noticing the other took a photo. cora muffled a giggle before pressing the lock button and settling the device on her lap. “yeah, loads. except i was supposed to get pizza with one of my friends but i think he left without me. . . haven’t seen him in awhile.” a pause. and now that i see you’re here, i don’t want to leave quite yet. a thought. “i was going to have an uber pick me up but i ended up playing with snapchat instead. are you having fun?”

@cxraisms
after spending most of the night dancing and hanging in the very much crowded party, romina was starting to feel ready to get out from there and just go home. hopefully not alone, but if it ultimately came down to that she’d also have no problem with that. before making up her mind of whether to leave or not, romi decided to go over the food table, hoping that it wasn’t too late to find something decent to eat. however, as she approaches it the first thing that catches her attention is the familiar younger girl on her phone. at first not making anything out of it, not until she notices the rather funny faces she starts pulling. managing to get a laugh out from her, not meaning to laugh at cora but just finding it funny in general. “you having fun?”
to say that tonight was fun for cora would be an understatement. she mingled with friends and strangers, danced a little bit, but mostly made quite a few visits to the food table along with conversations. cora was always a chatter, but even more so when she drank. the party had no signs of stopping soon, but her night was coming to an end. the brunette meant to obtain an uber ride, she really had, considering she was in no type of condition to drive. however, the little yellow icon on her phone distracted her. who knows how much time had passed. cora went through each filter on snapchat, taking pictures and videos. laughing way too hard at herself. when she heard a voice nearby, heavy hazel eyes moved from the screen to look for the person who was speaking to her. romina. a dimpled smile tugged at the corners of cora’s mouth, laughter spilling afterwards. “how can i not be when i’m a reindeer!” she exclaimed, handing romina her cell phone.Â
