sovereignswrath:
Sakura… A very nice name. Watching her eat the pastry was quite comforting. and he was relieved she seemed to be calming… But now he was the one getting anxious. Maybe because he’d spent too much time outside, or perhaps the thought of this girl not being able to get her necklace back was troubling, but the situation suddenly hit him like a brick. God, he was socialising out of nowhere. With a child, nonetheless. This was definitely not included in his plans for today.
He felt his face heat up as Sakura trailed off, and he felt stuck in the silence. Did she want something? Why was she giving him that look? Thoughts suddenly started rushing through his head as he clammed up, and realised there was only one thing he could do.
He looked down on the antique doll he had been holding, and then placed her on his knee.
“I’m sorry, young lady! This is Shu, and I am Mademoiselle. Shu isn’t very good at talking to people, so sometimes it’s best if I deal with conversation instead. I’m glad you like the croissant! I wish that I could enjoy them too.“
Shu began putting on a high pitched voice as he moved her arms around, his mouth staying relatively still during the process. Although the doll’s expression was fixed on a gentle smile, Shu still looked quite troubled, although he tried to keep his face turned away.
“I’m sure your precious thing is around here somewhere, Miss Sakura. Was it a gift from someone important to you..?
She blinked, staring at the doll in surprise. That’s... certainly not what she expected. Glancing up at him as the doll explained her sudden appearance, she realized he must have been pretty nervous. Sakura hadn’t even noticed this entire time... Looking back at the doll, she put on as much of a smile as she could at the moment.
“Nice to meet you, Shu and Mademoiselle!” She replied, tempted to give Mademoiselle a nickname due to how hard it was to say her name. “A gift...?” She certainly hadn’t considered it a gift when she first got it, but... “Yeah, it is. It’s how I met a lot of my friends, too.”
