Hollywood Heartbreak Chapter. 2
A/n - Chapter 2! I’m trying to figure out the direction I wanna go with this but I’m just having fuuun. I think it’s pretty cute so far and I hope y’all agree!! Enjoy! <33
Synopsis - It’s SummerSlam, and your first ever WWF live event. And an event it is.
Warnings - none
Word count - 3k
Well.
Here you are. SummerSlam. Earlier in the day you had started getting ready, opting to do your own makeup. Rather than have it done when your manager offered to hire your usual makeup artist.
An hour or maybe two later, Ari had a car come by your high rise apartment and pick you up. It took you to his lavish Hollywood Hills house. When you climbed up the annoyingly steep driveway, you were greeted with his wife, Natalie. “Y/n! Come in, come in, the boys are just about ready.” She was always so sweet, she met you with a huge toothy smile. Ushering you in immediately.
“Hey, Natalie thank you.” You said walking in, the Spanish style home taking in your surroundings. It never ceased to amaze you.
When you get further in, you see Ari and his son Jay hunched over the kitchen counter.
“It’s ok buddy it doesn’t have to be perfect.” Ari said, holding back his chuckles. You realized they were making a sign, it said “RIP MANKIND” apparently he was a huge Undertaker fan. He stood with unwavering concentration, as he slowly outlined the letters expecting perfection.
“Almost done!” The little kid squeaked.
That was when Ari finally noticed you were there. “Y/n hi! Almost ready to go.” He put a hand up reassuringly.
“Y/n!” Jay abandoned his project, to greet you with a tight hug. “Guess I'll just… finish it myself.” Ari mumbled after he darted away.
“Hey dude, ready for tonight?” You asked. Kids weren’t usually your strong suit. But for whatever reason he just thought you were the coolest ever. So it worked out.
“Yup! Taker’s gonna beat Mankinds ass!” He yelled with a point.
You busted out laughing at the word choice. Giving him a high five and nod of approval.
“Uh Jay, don’t say that!” Ari yelled, scanned his eyes around the room, praying his wife didn’t just hear that.
“Sooorry.” He responded. You internally still laughed. Kid was something else, you loved it.
“Why don’t we get out of here huh?” Ari asked shortly after.
“Let’s do it!” You agreed. In all honesty you were really just ready to get this over with. The only good thing that you could think would come out of this was the publicity for the movie. That’s what your manager said earlier today anyways.
————————————-
You all finally get there, after impatiently groaning for the last hour in that painful 5 o’clock rush hour traffic. “We’re here!!” Jay screamed at the window, when we started seeing the streets nearby done up with tons of posters promoting the event.
You’re guided through by neon vests, to a dark parking garage that luckily hadn’t filled up yet. Eventually, you all head to the box office letting them know you have tickets set aside. Immediately the girl at the window jumps up out of her seat frantically. “Shawn’s guests are here!” She screamed to seemingly no one other than herself in the booth. She runs behind her trying to print the tickets as quickly as possible.
Jeez, did he threaten her or something? She hands over the ticket stubs and lets you know that after you get inside, there’s a different stairwell to take you downstairs. That’s where you would be able to visit before the show starts. It seemed like Shawn was giving you the full backstage experience.
You are all met immediately at the elevator with a staff member. She was wearing a headset, carrying a clipboard, and had a jacket on that read talent relations in neon colors too. She introduced herself quickly, shuffling all of you in the building quickly.
Then she gave you all a backstage pass lanyard. Jay was freaking out. You could practically feel him buzzing with excitement next to you. Ari was too, even though he was trying to keep his always cool demeanor. You, on the other hand, were only wondering how long it was gonna be until you could fetch a drink.
“Alright I’ll just go ahead and take you to Mr. Michaels dressing room and then he can take it from there!” She said steering us through the millions of scattered bodies running around the hallway.
Mr Michaels? Who is he, the President?
You arrived at his dressing room. He swung the door open, in only what you presumed was his show outfit? You honestly had no idea what was going on. All you knew was he stood before you in zebra heart tights. No shirt. Hopefully he didn’t notice you scan him up and down. But then again he was probably used to that.
“Well howdy” he smirks
“Hey man!” Ari exclaimed.
Instantly Jay ran up, slamming into Shawn in a tight hug. Just like he had done to you earlier.
Damn this kids’ a hugger.
Shawn chuckled, wrapping his arms around him, before crouching down to his level. “Want to meet some really cool guys?”
Jay seemed overwhelmed by his excitement, he just nodded frantically.
“Yes!” he screeched
Shawn’s eyes lock onto yours for a split second, but he first gives Ari one of those guy half handshake, hug things. “Y/n, always so good to see you.” he spoke into your ear, giving you a hug too. Always? This is like the second time I'm seeing him- he smells amazing oh my god.
We all start walking down the grey hallway, it's almost overwhelming with the amount of people running around. Some seemed like frazzled wrestlers, others just frazzled headset wearing lackeys.
“Oh here we go” he snapped. “Nash, come meet some of my friends!” Shawn yelled down the hall at an insanely tall guy with his back to us. “That’s big daddy cool, diesel, Kevin Nash, jolly green giant, whatever. I usually just call him Kev.” Shawn jokes as Kevin turns around and starts making his way to us.
Once we catch up to him, he shakes all of our hands introducing himself. Including Jay’s, almost completely engulfing his hand and his forearm. “Hey man, who's your favorite? You better say me.” he says jokingly, shaking his fist at the tiny kid, getting lower to meet his gaze.
“The Undertaker!” he confidently yells up at him, you can't help but giggle at his response. Shawn wraps an arm around him, pulling him closer feigning a territorial instinct. “Watch out Jay, this guy's crazy, you don't wanna mess with him.”
Kevin, just mean mugs him for a second before laughing. “It’s alright Taker’s pretty cool too if you’re into that kind of thing.”
“He’s convinced he’s gonna end Mankind tonight.” Ari pipes in behind him.
“Oh is that right? I bet he will too.” he says now standing taller. “I'm fighting this guy called Goldust you gonna pull for me?” He questions, his eyes quickly looking over to you with a barely visible interest. Almost like he was checking to see if you were locked in on the conversation.
“Yup! I hate Goldust” Jay scrunched his nose.
“Good. I’ll be sure to punch him extra hard just for you.” he responds with a tussle to Jay’s hair.
He gives Shawn a slap to the arm, and then quickly handshakes Ari once more. Redirecting his attention to you, he slowly clasps his hand to yours a little seductively? His shame unwavering just like the stare into your eyes. It only makes you immensely flustered. “Hope you'll be pulling for me too.” He speaks in a very deep voice, lower than he was just talking.
“Alright we gotta go, places to be, people to see!” Shawn yells, scratch that, more like interrupts, before you can respond.
He drags you all away, your left only more curious about the tall man. “God that guys a hoot,” Shawn huffs a compliment but something tells you it wasn’t his true feelings.
You all made your way through the hustle and bustle of what was the WWF backstage. Shawn introduced you to too many people. It was hard to keep track. Ari and Jay on the other hand were overcome with elation after every interaction it seemed.
You came upon a long haired blonde guy, eerily similar to Shawn.
“Hunter, yo!” Shawn beckoned him over. He stood next to a tall, jet black haired woman too.
“This is Hunter and Chyna. These guys are the best.” Shawn smiled proudly, introducing them.
“Hey” Hunter said
“Hi!” Chyna followed his sentiment.
“These are my new coworkers.” Shawn says, one eyebrow shooting up at them both.
“Even this little guy?” Hunter pointed down with a furrowed brow, at a starstruck Jay.
“Ha!” Ari snorted at the comment. “No, this is my son Jay.”
“Oh! Wait! That’s right, Hollywood Heartbreakers?” Chyna interrupts looking at you with a concentrated expression.
“Heartbreak, yeah, doesn’t matter. Not my finest hour.” You roll your eyes with a chuckle, remembering what you so often were reminded of.
“What! I loved that movie, we all went and saw it together actually.” She continued, gesturing at the two blonde guys.
“Oh shit that’s right!” Hunter breathed a laugh, looking at Shawn like he just remembered something.
You didn’t see it but Shawn shook his head ever so slightly at Hunter. Silently begging him to abandon whatever thought just popped in his head.
“He thought you were the hottest thing since Michelle Pfeiffer.” Hunter smiled, relishing in Shawn’s oncoming embarrassment. “Swear to god, he talked about it for days after.” His laughs grew more and more.
Chyna awkwardly giggled. But then smacked him in the chest with the back of her hand to stop while he was ahead.
“It was a good movie.” Ari agreed.
You look around the group. Dying to see the look on Shawn’s face. He had a slight blush, as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Alright guys, nice talk. Really always such a pleasure.” He spoke sarcastically. You could tell out of everyone you had met, he was the closest with them. You understood why, they seemed like a lot of fun.
Before you could leave, Chyna scooped you in a hug, then Jay, with another sweet wave to Ari. “Have a good time tonight!”
“Yeah nice to meet ya.” Hunter waved with a smack of the gum he’d been gnawing on.
You move down the hall a few feet before Shawn’s fidgeting with his wristwatch. “Shoot! You three gotta find your seats.”
————————
After you made the circle back around to his dressing room, the lady who’d helped you earlier waited by the door. She then guided you to your seats, which to your surprise was literally the front row. Ringside. Jay screeched with elation. You could’ve swore you saw Ari bounce on the balls of his feet, with that same overwhelming enthusiasm.
The night started off highly entertaining. An intense tag team match. Jay had given you the lowdown on who was who, and all the backstory, by now you’d surely forgotten. All that stuck out to you was the cool face paint.
The second match was about to start, when Ari popped up from his seat. “Gonna run to the bathroom, need anything?”
“Undertaker shirt!” Jay yelled over the loud crowd. Ari laughed at his eagerness, shooting him a wink.
“I’ll see what I can do, you?” He redirected, even though he was originally talking to you.
“Can you grab me a beer?”
“Jeez you two, so demanding!” He joked “Be back in a few” in a split second he vanished through the sea of crazed fans.
————————
“Looook what I got!” Ari wiggles a can of beer, handing it to you, as he holds his own under his arm.
“Dad, you missed the whole match! Diesel gave me a high five!”
“Yeah we were on the Jumbotron and everything!” You added, cracking open the can with an immediate sip.
“Sorry buddy, the lines were insane out there. I saw it on the tv though!” He started to rifle through the plastic sack he also had in his hand.
“But check this out.” He holds up a black and purple shirt with the undertaker right across it.
Jay’s smile was absolutely contagious as he took it from him, putting it on right away.
Ari pulled out his own, it said Austin 3:16. Which you totally didn’t get.
“Oh don’t think I forgot you.” He said all singsongy. That sure did seem mischievous. He then pulls out another T-shirt, with Shawn Michaels on it, colorful tights and all.
“You’re kidding me.” You had taken a long sip, and were now doing everything in your power not to spit it out. The blank look on your face spoke a thousand words. Some of which you probably shouldn’t say near the surrounding children.
“Nope! Put it on” he demanded, shoving it at you over Jay in the middle. You groaned sliding it on over the really cute outfit you spent way too long picking out earlier today.
“Happy?”
He nodded with a thumbs up, as he sipped his own beer.
————————-
The Undertaker’s match just ended. You genuinely thought Jay was going to physically combust. Though some of the other fans gave him a run for his money. In your opinion he was definitely the loudest and most excited. He was on his feet the entire time, from the very first ring of his theme music. Banging on the metal barricade, screaming like a wild banshee, he was living his best life. Then when he won, forget it. You were convinced at one point he was gonna leap over the divider, to go celebrate with him in the ring.
Eventually he and Mankind, both made their ways backstage. Residual smoke lingering from the pyro filled the air. Now everyone awaited the main event. Shawn vs Vader.
Another name you’d never heard of, but trust. Jay and Ari filled you in yet again.
Then suddenly the loud music hit. Everyone in the crowd jumped to their feet, you quickly realized who it was.
The suspense built, until he appeared from behind the black curtain. Clad in a shiny, flashy, colorful wardrobe. Still in those same zebra tights. He slowly, albeit goofily danced down the ramp. Totally taking his time, relishing in the screams and applause from the crowd.
Finally after his trotting, which you admittedly found insanely amusing. He made his way around the ring when he spotted the three of you. Mainly you. Catching your eyes, he was determined to head your direction. There were arms reaching out, pulling him every which way. But he still made his way over.
One of his arms draped over the railing, leaning over all cool like. About then he noticed the shirt with his face right on it.
A wicked grin slowly curled up his cheeks. “Knew you’d come around.” He said leaning in, for only you to hear.
You rolled your eyes, a barely visible smile on your face. “I was forced.” You shrug, smarting off in response to his taunting. “Good luck though!” The sarcasm dripped off your tongue as you gave him a quick pat to the shoulder.
He lingered for a second, his prior expression never leaving his face. A face that was incredibly close to yours. It was like he suddenly realized he was actually at work, and snapped himself back into character. You were starting to realize though, that wasn’t too far from who he really seems to be.
With an excited high five to Jay and Ari, he jumped in the ring. Bouncing off the ropes, and pacing around as he awaited his opponent.
Still his eyes couldn’t seem to help but wander over to you.
————————
“OH! How could Shawn Michaels possibly recover from this?!” You heard one of the commentators scream from the desk that wasn’t too far away.
Vader, suplexed Shawn and was setting up for another when he bolted out of line of fire.
Somehow he speedily ran up the top ropes, leaping off as he landed a flying elbow. Vader stumbled around, but didn’t fall to the ground. Shawn began pummeling him, fists of fury, in rapid succession.
“Cmon Shawn!” Jay yelled to the ring. You couldn’t help but smile to yourself at how much fun he was having. You suddenly realized you were having a blast too. Was it the fourth beer you were on though? Who knows.
“Yeah Shawn, get him!” You joined in on the cheers. Somehow he heard you. You had no idea how, considering you were smack dab in the middle of tons of other fans hollering at him just the same. He looked back shooting you a wink even in the midst of violence.
Jay giggled up at you when he realized you were finally getting in on it too. Ari of course had been screaming the entire time.
Shawn backed into the corner turnbuckle closest to where you sat. Vader was disoriented, trying to stay on his feet, facing the opposite direction.
He looked over his shoulder and threw his arm back, pointing right to you. That devilish smile back with a vengeance, pasted on his annoyingly attractive face. As he started to slam his foot onto the white canvas. Screams erupted even more. For what reason? You had no idea. All you knew was people were eating it up. He suddenly flings his leg in an effective kick right to the side of Vader's head with a smack.
The big, mask-wearing man fell to the mat. Shawn laid over him, exhausted and breathing heavily, as the ref counted to three.
Even more cheers and praises filled the packed arena. You were sure you’d have ringing in your ears for days after this. His music hit instantly. The energy was electric so you couldn’t not clap and scream for him too. Even if it would blow up his ego even more. If that was remotely possible.
The ref ran out of the ring, to retrieve the WWF Championship belt. Shawn held it up over his head like he’d just climbed the tallest mountain.
Just like earlier, he pranced, danced and proudly paraded his new belt around the ring. Of course he slides under the bottom rope, doing the same on the outside of the ring. Just like earlier he got pulled every which way.
Eventually he made his rounds back in front of you, Jay and Ari. He only shrugs smugly, with another wink. Just like that he’s gone up the ramp, through the curtain and backstage.
