Welcome to my world...

Pleasure to make your acquaintance, my name is Silas Roanoke, and I'm so glad you stumbled upon my quiet little corner.

There isn't much to tell about me. Devilishly handsome? Of course. Lover of nature? Indeed. Prince of a small archipelago nation? One of many.

Friends? Several. I've been branching out since my visit to New York and meeting with the Avengers. They're a peculiar bunch, but I do find them fascinating.

Family? Complicated. Crowns, thrones, and titles have a way of getting in the way of close familial connections. That being said, I adore my immediate family. Sometimes, you have to work through the mess.

Superhero? Well, I prefer the term "warrior", but I suppose "superhero" works. I'm not as flashy as Tony Stark or as grand as Thor, but I'm handy with a sword. Plus, I can make a shield work just as well as Cap.

Love? Haven't had much time for it, but I'm sure when the right man makes himself known, I'll be open to the idea.

It had been some time since Silas Ronaoke, a prince of the archipelago nation Jasari, had set foot in New York. It had been some time since he had seen Tony, their on again off again relationship had captivated the press across the globe but they hadn't spoken in a long while. Silas had attempted texts and other forms of communication, but their last interaction hadn't been a pleasant one. Each man wanting something different from their relationship. Silas wanted long term commitment, which scared the life out of Tony.

However, Silas had decided to return and speak with Tony because all Silas could think about was the Iron Man. Every night had been horrible and lonely without the man Silas held so dearly and fondly in his heart. He stepped off the quinjet and greeted the AI voice welcoming him into the Tower before wandering to the lab where he could hear the quiet hum of rock music. It was a sound that brought a small smile to his lips.

Tony hadn't been expecting Silas. He never was, really. Especially after last time... He knew it was his fault. He'd pushed him away because he was scared. Scared of what he wanted, scared of what commitment might mean.

Even though he trusted Silas, it was hard to unlive a life of betrayal.

So his head jerks up in shock when he hears his voice. "...what are you doing here?" He breathes.

Silas shrugged off his jacket and folded it over his arm as he slowly approached Tony. He wasn't entirely sure how to explain how he had been feeling to Tony, last time he tried that the two men fell into a huge argument. He swallowed thickly before placing his jacket down on one of the stools at Tony's workbench.

"I thought I'd be fine, you know?" He spoke softly. "I thought if I was back home with my family that I could fall back into my normality." Silas added, twisting his family ring around his finger nervously. "But every night when my head hit the pillow, all I could think about was you. All I could see when I shut my eyes was you." The prince declared.

He let his eyes lift to look at Tony. "I've missed you more than words can describe, so I came back to talk to you."

Tony sighed, putting down the wrench he'd been using on the helmet. He waves a hands and the holographic screens in the air dissapear. "This conversation didn't go well last time," he warns.

He sighs and looks over at Silas, wiping his greasy hands on his already ruined jeans. Silas has seen that look a lot. Too tired, too worn, but working anyway. Just a hint of a spark of passion in his eyes. "You know how I feel about relationships." Yeah. Terrified.

Silas nodded slowly. "I know." He spoke softly and slowly approached him again, not caring about the dirty jeans or his grease covered hands. The prince very carefully reached his hand up, cupping Tony's cheek and letting his thumb brush against his cheekbone. "You have consumed every thought of mine since I left, Tony. I have missed you more than I can describe with words."

Those pale green eyes looked into Tony's eyes, they were soft and warm. "I know you are scared, and I'm not looking for commitment." Silas whispered, leaning closer to Tony and pressing a gentle kiss against his forehead. "I just want to see where this could go again."

Tony couldn't help it. He leant into Silas' hand the second it cupped his cheek. his eyes fluttered shut for a moment. "...I missed you too, you know," he whispered. "Fucking hated myself for it, but yeah. I missed you."

He hated how he melted. But he did. "You know that isn't fair to you. You want more. I don't know... if I can give you that. It's too much of a risk, Si.."

Silas continued to let his thumb glide across Tony's cheek in a soothing motion. "For once, can you not think with your head?" He asked softly. "I'm willing to risk everything if it means I can just be near you again, hold you again." He whispered softly, his free hand gently snaking around Tony's waist.

"I know this is terrifying to you, but if you trust me, then what have you got to lose?" Silas asked sincerely, his forehead coming to rest against Tony's.

"You're holding me now," Tony points out, fighting to not move closer and completely melt into Silas' hold. God, though. He wants to. He really fucking wants to. "I don't want to hurt you." He never had and he never would.

A quiet, wet laugh. "You know the answer to that." The painful thing was, he did. Because Tony did trust him, had told him. The people he'd loved, the countless betrayals. Ty, Sunset, Obie. The reasons he wanted but wouldn't let himself have.

Silas' lips curled into a smile when Tony pointed out the obvious in their conversation. Another piece of him he had missed. "Tony." He whispered softly. "At least hear me out on the second half of my proposal." He said softly, pulling back a little just to look at Tony in full view.

"Come to Jasari with me for a while." He said. "And then, if you still feel the same, we won't go any further and I'll let you live your life in peace." Silas promised.

Tony sighs. "I have responsibilities, Si," he points out. "I've got a company to run, and what if th e Avengers get a call to assemble? I can't just up and leave for..." Who knows how long.

Besides, part of him worries that if he leaes, he won't want to go back to his own life.

"Can't Pepper handle things with your company?" He asked softly. "And I'm sure the Avengers will survive. There's five other members." Silas told him. "I'm also not opposed to helping if a superhero emergency pops up." Silas stated.

"Please Tony. What are you so scared of?" Silas asked, his voice slightly more serious. He felt that Tony was just throwing excuses at him as a way to not let him get close.

"Pepper has enough on her plate.." Tony trails off weakly. He knows he's jsut giving Silas pointless reasons that he can't come. Beause he's right, he is scared.

He sighs, and looks away. "I'm scared of how much I want you," he admits quietly. "I'm sscared that I'm going to go with you, and have everything be.. perfect and I'm going to-. I'm scared."

Silas gently looped his fingers under his chin and lifted his head up. "Look at me. It's okay to be scared." He whispered softly and kissed his forehead.

The prince cleared his throat. "I'm in New York for a couple of days at least. Could you maybe think on it?" He asked softly. "And if you truly don't want to go, then we can call an end to whatever it is we are." Silas said seriously even if it would break his heart to do so.

Tony almost shakes his head. He's not supposed to be scared. Stark men are made of iron, right? Iron didn't bend, or fear.

Still, he can't help but soften ever so slightly. "Why don't you stay with me?" He asks quietly. "We'll get dinner a couple times.. try the whole.. together thing out?"

Silas looked at Tony and let his finger trace the shape of Tony's jaw. "I'll stay with you." He spoke softly. "But only if that's something you want?" He added, remaining very close to Tony with his arm gently wrapped around Tony's waist.

"I'll always stay when you ask me." Silas smiled softly. The prince pulled Tony into a hug, his arms wrapped around Tony's waist as he held him close to comfort him.

"Of course it's what I want. I'm terrible at admitting it but that doesn't mean I don't know that I want-" you. He can barely say it. It's too scary for now.

He wraps his arms around SIlas in return, god, he'd missed him. Down to the damns scent.

Silas held Tony close and kissed his forehead softly. "Then I'll stay and we can see where this goes." He spoke softly, allowing his hands to hold onto Tony's hips before lifting him up with little to no effort. "But I'd appreciate you at least meeting someone special to me."

Tony looks up at Silas. "Okay," he relents. He reaches up to strokes his hang over Silas' cheekbone, gently cupping his jaw. "But I'm not meeting anyone till I've had a shower, a shave, a kiss, and either a coffee or a nap. Not nessecarilyin that order."

Silas smiled at him, always drawn in by Tony's mannerisms and ways of phrasing things. "I don't think my friend will necessarily mind the way you look right now, I know I don't." Silas pressed a light kiss against his lips. "But there's one off your check list."

"You are attracted to me, and while everyone is attracted to me, I cannot garuntee your friends ood taste. Also, I've been down here for about a week and I do need a real shower." He softens at the kiss, though. "But thank you anyway."

"Anthony Stark." Silas laughed as he began climbing the stairs with Tony in his arms. "This is what happens when I leave you alone." He teased him whilst going to Tony's bedroom. Silas remembered the lay out of Tony's mansion even though he hadn't been there in a while.

"Don't call me Anthony," Tony replies, same as he always does. He laughs when Silas carries him upstairs. He likes that he remembers the layout of the house. "Stay with me?"

Silas smiled at him and nodded. "Of course I'll stay. I'll go wherever you tell me." Silas reassured Tony whilst climbing the stairs with little effort. The prince admired Tony's face, gently brushing his lips against Tony's chin.

Tony just shakes his head, a little flustered. He kinda likes the fact that Silas can carry him around with seemingly no effort. "...Right. Shower first, then nap. Mm, no, nap first."

Silas chuckled and nodded. "Nap first. Don't need you falling asleep in the shower." He teased him whilst entering Tony's bedroom, carefully laying him down on his bed. The prince kicked off his own boots and lay down beside Tony, wrapping his arms around him.

Tony rolls his eyes. "Have I told you before I hate how logical you are?" He asks curiously, teasing. He melts into Silas' arms, though, curling up so he's tucked against his chest.

Silas chuckled. "Once or twice." He hummed quietly to himself, letting Tony get as close as he wanted. "Have I ever mentioned you're rather adorable when you get all sleepy like this? Like a koala." He teased quietly.

"Once or twice," Tony copies, but even as he glares lightly at Silas he snuggles closer, one leg thrown over the other mans. "Not my fault you're comfy as all hell."

Silas hummed and held onto Tony's leg, his other hand combing the jet black hair away from his eyes. "Well, I'm glad I can help you get comfortable." He whispered softly, kissing his cheek. "Just try and get some sleep. You look like you need it."

"Oh, shush," Tony complains, but he does shiver comfortably under the hand in his hair. His secret weakness, honestly. And his eyes do sttart to drift closed, his breathing steadying.

Silas watched him begin to drift off. His thumb gently stroked against Tony's cheekbone as he admired him. "I'll be here when you wake, don't worry." He reassured in a whisper. After a couple of hours, Silas still hadn't moved and had continued to hold Tony close to his chest. The prince had watched over him whilst he napped, not once moving in case he disturbed Tony.

Tony falls into a more peaceful sleep then he htinks he's had in months. Which isn't surprising. He's always slept better when he's next to someone else, especially someone he lov- nope, not going there.

Silas gently guided his finger across Tony's features, tracing them delicately. He adored Tony, but knew that the inventor struggled with letting people in or even letting himself open up to people. Silas was scared he had let himself fall for someone who wasn't ever going to love him back.

Tony did love him, even if he struggled to admit it, even to himself. He was just scared. Letting people in had only ever ended in hurt. Sunset, Ty, Obadiah. He wasn't sure he could love someone again without being used, even if he wanted more than anything to do so.

Silas would never dream of using Tony. He had made that abundantly clear from the early days of their relationship. However, he understood Tony's hesitancy. The prince held him a little tighter, wanting to protect Tony from feeling that way.

It's a few hours before Tony wakes, still curled up against Silas though perhaps slightly less entangled. "Mm... hi.." he mumbles, voice still thick with sleep.

Silas chuckled. "Hi. How'd you sleep?" He asked softly, gently moving his fingers across his forehead to brush any unruly hair back into it's normal resting place. "Does that feel better now that you've slept?"

Tony stretches, much like a cat, and then settles back against him. His hair is always it's fluffy and curliest when he wakes. "...of course it does," he admits grudgingly.

"Good." Silas hummed. "Now, maybe I can persuade you to get in the shower whilst I make dinner?" The prince suggested, his fingers combing through his fluffy, curly hair.

Tony groans and looks at Silas again. "...I could probably be persuaded." When was the last time he ate? He's pretty sure he ordered take out yesterday..?

"You can't remember the last time you ate, can you?" Silas teased before rubbing his back, just admiring how handsome Tony was laying beside him. He wasn't surprised by Tony inability to remember if he'd eaten.

Tony blushes ever so slightly at how easily Silas reads him, and then shrugs. "Food is overrated,' he declares, which is definitely a yes and they both know it.

Silas stood up, a smile on the prince's lips as he very easily lifted Tony off the bed and walking to the bathroom. "Get a shower and I'll have food ready by the time you are done." Silas chuckled and carefully placed Tony back down on his feet.

"Sir, yes sir," Tony murmurs teasingly. He mock-salutes before pulling off his shirt and starting to get ready to shower. He gives Silas a soft look before he leaves.

Silas pecked his cheek before leaving, heading downstairs to begin making food for both of them. A traditional Jasarian chicken dish he had made once before for Tony.

Tony showers quickly, and then rejoins Silas downstairs. His mouth waters at the smell of the Jasarian dish. "Fuck, Si. Smells delicious... god."

Silas chuckled. "Good to see I'm making it right, I always get a little confused." He explained with a hum. He stirred a pot and looked at Tony. "How was your shower?"

"It smells incredible," Tony promises, coming to lean heavily against Silas. "It was good. Definitely woke me up."

Silas wrapped an arm around Tony and held him close. "Good. You look brighter." He spoke softly, leaning down to plant a kiss on his forehead. "And you smell less like motor oil." Silas teased.

Tony drapes his arms over Silas' shoulders with a fond smile. He can't believe how domestic he's being, honestly. "Well, that's probably a good thing, hm?"

"A very good thing." Silas hummed whilst pressing a gentle kiss on Tony's lips. "Although, perhaps I am a little partial to the motor oil smell." Silas teased before kissing his cheek.

Tony rolls his eyes, "I know you are," he teases, thinking back to the many times Silas had come down to drag him out of the lab only for them not to leave at all.

"Watching you work is rather fascinating." Silas hummed whilst flipping over chicken in his frying pan. "But perhaps you and I could just have a quiet movie night?" He suggested.

"Aw, flatterer," Tony says with a smile. He leans up to kiss his jaw, then smiles. "Quiet movie night sound sperfect. I'll make a cinephile of you yet, Si."

Silas laughed. "Maybe, maybe." He hummed and began plating up the dish. "Eat. Divines know you need it." He smiled and wrapped an arm about Tony's waist. "You'll enjoy it."

Tony leans back to press a kiss to Silas' jaw and then smiles. "Hey, I eat just fine. ButI never turn down your cooking, so..." He sits down happily to eat.

"Tony, I remember you forgetting to eat for two days." Silas told him with a small smile, sitting down across from him to enjoy the meal together. "You have a habit of forgetting."

"Mm, and that isn't even my record," Tony says with a teasing grin. He smiles at the meal in front of him. "But I'm glad you look out for me, Si."

Silas looked at Tony. "Of course I look out for you." He said, cutting into his slice of chicken. "I told you that I would always look out for you, even if you are scared to commit to anything."

"I'm not scared," Tony protests, its a lie and they both know it. He absolutely is scared. "I just think..." What? That Silas could do better?

Silas looked at him, patiently waiting for an answer. He slipped his hand into Tony's and brushed his thumb over the back of his hand. "Tony, have you ever thought that I fell for you because you are just yourself?"

Tony sighs and looks down at their enjoyned hands. He doubts it sometimes, of courrse, but a lot of the time... "Yeah. And that's exactly the problem."

Silas seemed confused. "The problem?" He asked in confusion. "What do you mean? I'm not sure I understand."

Tony isn't sure what sort of spell manages to get through his suit, or if it's the result of some fuckery in his lab, but what he does know is that he is definitely not an adult anymore.

Instead, he's transformed back into a toddler, five or six maybe, and sitting on the empty couch in his empty penthouse, listening to Jarvis talk to him soothingly when someone enters...

Silas had been away travelling when this accident had occurred. The prince had been attending an event in some part of Asia before returning to see Tony. However, Tony was not as he remembered him being when he arrived at the penthouse that day. The prince placed his duffle bag down on the floor, looking around. "Jarvis? Who's this?" He asked, looking at the small boy sat on the couch.

"And where's Tony?"

[I'm afraid you're looking at him,] Jarvis answers. [Sir seemed to be hit by some sort of transformative spell. He's been returned to his five year old self.]

Tony looks at Silas curiously. "HI!"

Silas blinked before his attention was taken by the small boy's voice. Silas softened slightly and he knelt down to the boy's height. "Hello, little one. How long have you just been sitting there?" He asked, glancing around. "You must be hungry?"

Tony shrugs. "Long time!! Been talking to 'Arvis," he answers happily, immediately reaching his arms out towards Silas. He nods quickly at the second question. "Yes! Food!"

Silas stood up straight again and lifted Tony into his arms. "Well, I'm glad Jarvis could keep you company." He said with a small smile before letting his eyes wander to the kitchen. "Well, lets make something tasty, shall we? You can help me, can't you?"

"Mmhm! He says I'm in the future!" Tony, understandably, sounds awed by that. He's already fascinated with science- He snuggles down to be comfortable in Silas' arms. "Okay!"

Silas chuckled and nodded. "I suppose you are in the future." He hummed, walking into the kitchen with the small boy in his arms. "Let's see. What can I make?" He tapped his chin before having an idea. "I can make you something from my homelands."

Tony smiles brightly, happily snuggled in his arms. "Where are you from?" He asks curiously when Silas mentions making something from his homeland.

"I am from a place called Jasari." Silas explained. "It's a very far away place, but the food is very good." He adjusted Tony onto his hip and entered the kitchen.

Tony looks curious at the mention of Jasari. "What's it like?" He asks eagerly

"Oh well, it's beautiful. It's an archipelago made up of 17 islands and they're all unique and different to one another." He explained to Tony with a soft smile. "They all have different weather patterns and customs. It's a very interesting place to be."

"Sounds pretty," Tony says, and then his eyes widen a little at the description of the weather patterns, thoug hhe of course doesn't fully understand. "Cool!!"

"It's very pretty." Silas reminisced, always missing home when he wasn't near it. He had taken Tony a few times, but obviously little Tony wouldn't remember or know that. He sat the boy on the kitchen counter and grabbed some ingredients from the cupboard. "Would you like to stir?"

Tony beams at the offer to stir, instantly making grabby hands for the spoon that wasn't even out of the draw yet. "Yess!! Wanna help!!" He decides instantly.

Silas smiled and continued to hold the little one on his hip, handing him the spoon. "Alright. You can stir, but you have to be gentle." Silas told him softly, carefully measuring ingredients to put in the bowl. "Jarvis, can you play some songs the little one might like, please?"

Tony stirs, definitely too rough at first. He spills a little on his shirt and then gentles his movement. [Of course, your highness.] Jarvis starts to play some soft Italian music.

Silas smiled at the little boy. "That's it." He hummed and began putting more things into the bowl to make a dough. Silas hummed to himself, an old Jasarian tune his mother always hummed when he was Tony's age.

Tony giggles at the lullaby, especially combined with the Italian music. This guy was so nice!! How did he get into his house? Mr. Jarvis trusts him though!!

Silas wasn't sure what he was supposed to do with this little Tony, but he assumed he would be the one taking care of him. "Jarvis, do we have any clothes for the little one?"

[I'm afraid not, your highness. The best I could offer is perhaps borrowing some of Ms. Romanovs. They will be smaller] Of course not small enough.

Silas shook his head. "No, no. I wouldn't raid Natasha's wardrobe." He chuckled and looked at Tony. "Tony, how would you feel about going out? We can go pick out some clothes, maybe some toys?" He suggested.

[A wise decision.] Tony perks up at the mention fo shopping trips, then frowns. "Don't wanna do photos," he muttes, of course expecting paparazzi.

Silas looked at Tony, his heart breaking a little for the boy. "No, there won't be any photos." He spoke softly, rubbing his back. "It'll just be you and me." Silas reassured him.

"No photos?" Tony asks, looking siginifcantly happier at the assurance. "Okay!! Can I get a space shirt?" He asks excitedly.

Silas chuckled. "I suppose we can find you a space shirt." He smiled softly and carefully spooned the dough into a pan. They were like little dough balls.

"Yayy!!" Tony beams up at him, then looks down at the balls. "What're these for?" He asks, obviously not remembering the recipe.

Silas chuckled. "It's breakfast. Trust me." He smiled and tapped his nose gently as the prince continued to make the breakfast dish he promised the little boy. "They're called Sweet Balls."

Tony considers the little balls. "Can I make some?" He asks, wanting to be helpful and maybe to impress the cool person in his house.

Silas hummed and nodded. "Of course. Just roll them in the palms of your hands." Silas explained, showing Tony how to do it slowly before turning back to the ones already in the frying pan.

Tony gives a giddy sounding giggle as he starts to messily roll the balls in his palm of his hands. His tongue sticks out the corner of his mouth in childish focus.

Silas chuckled softly. "That's it. Good boy." He hummed and watched him roll the balls as best he could. "Just place them on the plate, squirt. I'll put them in the hot oil."

Tony nods quickly and starts to add the balls to the plate. "How long do they cook for?" He asks curiously.

"They only take about three minutes on each side." He hummed and flipped the ones he had put in earlier. "Very quick to make which is why they are perfect for breakfast time."

He keeps making little balls for the plate, clearly glad to be able to do somethign useful. "Oh!! So you make them all the time?"

"Not all the time, but they are one of my favourites. My mom used to make them when I was little." Silas smiled softly, watching Tony curiously. He had always wondered about Tony's childhood and what he had been through.

"After a few centuries on this planet, you begin to get bored. You've watched everything happen, fought in conflicts you couldn't have imagined, travelled the world, and never really settled with the idea that every day your eyes will open. Then... You get a job opportunity."

Rex Myers stepped out of the yellow taxi cab at the front of Stark Tower. For once, he hadn't been the one seeking out employment, employment had sought him out. Tony Stark and his wife, Pepper, were going travelling to promote the expansion of Stark Indistries as a global enterprise and neither were comfortable with leaving their teenage son at home alone.

Enter Rex Myers, immortal knight born more than 700 years ago and possessing magical abilities never seen before. Not that Rex really thought much of his magical abilities, they were just something he had been taught, something quite literally inked into his skin. He hummed to himself before stepping inside and riding the elevator up to the penthouse suite.

When the doors opened, he was instantly greeted by the surprised face of his new charge. "Good morning." Rex greeted with a warm smile.

Peter stares back at the man, scrambling to stand up from his place on the couch. He'd been told that someone's going to be watching him while his parents are away, but he'd assumed it'll be someone like Natasha or Bruce, maybe Clint if he's in town. He's got no clue why this man would be here.

"Who the hell are you?" Peter swallows, trying not to look startled or afraid but definitely looking a little bit of both. "How'd you get in here?"

Rex had assumed Tony might have told Peter about him, but he has assumed wrong. He would deal with that later. Rex placed his duffel bag down and showed Peter he had a key. "Your father gave me a key. "My name is Rex, your father asked me to watch over you whilst he and your mother are away." Rex explained, taking a few steps towards Peter.

"I'm sorry for startling you. I assumed your father might have told you I was the one he had chosen." Rex chuckled, twisting his sapphire ring around his finger a few times. "Have you eaten?"

Peter looks at the duffle bag, then at the key. He suppresses a groan as he raises his head to Rex's face again. "He hired a babysitter?" His face is caught somewhere between mildly annoyed and stunned.

"It's okay. No, he didn't. I mean, he said he was going to have someone come check up on me, but I assumed he meant Nat or someone." He fidgets nervously with a thin silver web shooter on his wrist. "Uh, no. I was about to go to Delmar's for a sandwich."

"I prefer the term bodyguard." Rex mentioned with a small smile. "And I don't want you to feel babysat. You seem quite capable, if a little young." The older man mused whilst adjusting the cuffs of his shirt.

Rex studied Peter for a moment. "Well, I was going to head to the grocery store for ingredients to make calzones if you want one of those?" Rex offered to Peter with a small smile. Rex was half Italian, so a lot of his cooking came from that side of his culture.

"Spidey doesn't need a bodyguard..." Peter mutters under his breath, but becomes less hostile when Rex says he seems capable.

He tilts his head to one side, just slightly, when Rex mentions calzones. He loves Italian food. "...calzones sound good." He returns the small smile.

"Your father seemed to disagree." He chuckled before picking up his duffel bag again, placing it on the glass dining room table this time. Rex plucked out his wallet and slipped it into the pocket of his jeans. "Come on then. You can accompany me to the grocery store and I can learn more about you." Rex said as he began crossing the room towards the elevator again.

A faint cyan glow pulsed beneath his shirt, coming from the arcane tattoos he had been plastered with since he was 8 years old. "Anything in particular I should know about you?"

"Shit, you heard that... Uh, that's classified information which is probably in whatever contract my dad made you sign." Peter picks up his phone and wallet from the coffee table and follows Rex.

He startles slightly at the glow pulsing under Rex's shirt. "Your... Your chest is glowing. That's more important than anything I have to say." He looks at Rex's face. "Is it supposed to do that or do I need to prep the medbay?"

Rex paused and looked down at his chest before looking at Peter. He shook his head. "No, that's very normal for me." He explained as he lifted up his shirt to reveal the tattoos glowing. "They do that. Just part of being able to do arcane magic I suppose." He chuckled as if this was the most casual thing on the planet.

"And your father did explain everything to me about your double life. Your secret is safe with me." Rex pat Peter's shoulder before stepping into the elevator with a hum.

Peter blinks a few times at the tattoos. "Uh... Arcane magic?" He follows Rex into the elevator, fidgeting with his web shooter again as he raises an eyebrow. He knows about Asgardian magic and whatever Stephen's got, but he's not heard of arcane magic.

Rex nodded. "My father taught me when I was very young. Thought it would give me an advantage in training to be a knight." Rex explained to Peter whilst pressing a button on the elevator to go back down to the first floor. "I suppose your father didn't mention I am slightly older than I appear, did he?" Rex smiled at Peter.

Peter blinks at Rex more, leaning against the elevator wall. "A knight? Like, a knight-knight?"

He squints at him, silently cursing his dad for not saying anything about this man. "How old are you, exactly?"

"Yes. A knight-knight." Rex answered whilst checking his old gold pocket watch. "I was born in 1373 in Scotland before being raised between there and Italy as a child." Rex explained. "I was five when I learned I was immortal after almost drowning on a fishing trip with my father." He added before stepping out of the elevator when the doors opened.

Peter stares at the pocket watch for a moment, considering the likelihood of Rex telling the truth. There's no reason for him to lie, so Peter considers those chances pretty good. "You almost drowned? You're immortal?" He follows Rex out of the elevator, darting around the people in the lobby in a well-practiced method as he walks out to the street.

Rex nodded. "I am immortal." He hummed softly as he moved through the crowds of the lobby with ease. "Like I said, I was born in 1373, so I've been around for a little while." He smiled at the teenager. "I don't bite, you can ask questions."

Peter nods. "Okay, yeah, I've got a ton. One: what's arcane magic?" He looks up at Rex with a curious expression.

Rex chuckled. He should have seen that one coming first. "Arcane magic has some connection to the core elements." He hummed. "Although, usually involves a lot of runes and ancient symbols." Rex explained whilst rolling up his sleeves. "This magic is connected to me through these markings on my skin. They fuel my power."

"That's so cool!" Peter stares at the markings for a moment before looking at Rex again. "What's being immortal like?"

"It's an interesting thing." He hummed softly. "It can be rather... Jarring at first, but you do get used to that feeling after a few hundred years of life." Rex hummed softly.

"Jarring." Peter tilts his head at Rex with furrowed eyebrows as they walk towards the grocery store. "Do you scar? Since you're immortal, I mean. I don't because of my healing factor, but... can you still get hurt?"

Rex nodded. "Yes. I can still be injured, I still bleed and scar." He explained as he walked with Peter. "I just never die because of those injuries, but I will always be left with the reminder of what I put myself through."

"Reminder of what you put yourself through?" Peter tilts his head to the other side.

Rex chuckled. "Life as a knight was something..." He smiled and looked at his sapphire ring again. "I've had a few swords sliced through my abdomen. Many thought I was cursed when I would just continue fighting."

Peter's jaw gapes a little. "Wow. That had to hurt. I haven't dealt with sword injuries before, but stab wounds suck." He nods to the grocery store. "That one?"

Rex chuckled. "They're definitely not pleasant." He hummed and nodded at the grocery store. "Yes, that one will do as long as I can get what I need for dough." He hummed, fully intending to make these calzones from scratch.

Peter raises an eyebrow, following Rex in. "You're making the dough?"

Rex chuckled. "Of course. It's easy enough to do." He hummed to himself before beginning to wander the aisles. "So, what about you? What should I know about you?"

Peter thinks for a moment, unsure of what's important. Rex already knows the triple-life thing, so what else is there? What do regular people tell others about themselves?

"Uh, I've got a boyfriend?" He offers. It's his go-to for the rare occasions where he's got nothing to say. "His name's Harley. He might show up at the penthouse at some point seeing as he lives at the tower, so it's probably important that you know about him."

Rex's fingertips glowed cyan before a carton of eggs floated into the cart. "A boyfriend." He hummed as he thought of how to deal with the idea of guarding two boys. "I'm sure he's a good kid, just like you." Rex mentioned whilst using his powers to gather up more ingredients he needed.

"As long as you tell me when he's coming over, then I have no objections." Rex added with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Pick what you want for your calzone."

Whether or not Harley's a good kid has been heavily debated for years, but Peter nods with a small smile. "Thanks, I'll tell him to give us some advanced notice."

He reaches for the ham and ricotta cheese and puts them in the cart. "So... Do you have any questions for me? I'm kinda out of important things." He laughs softly.

Rex glanced at Peter. "Well, maybe we should start with your schedule? Things you do regularly that I may need to accompany you or collect you from afterwards." Rex inquired as he continued to float things into the cart.

Peter nods. "Right, right. Uh... Well, there's school. Happy would usually pick me up, but he's with my parents. I don't have an Aca Deca meet soon and I can get to and from my friend, Ned's place on my own."

He watches as Rex floats the items into the cart. "You're not worried about doing that in public? I mean, it's cool and all, but there's, like, HYDRA and stuff."

Rex nodded, making note of Peter's schedule. Tony had mentioned school times and where the car keys were kept. It would take some time getting used to taking care of a teenager again, it had been a long while since he'd done it.

"I've already knocked back SHIELD when Fury came looking for me. HYDRA don't particularly scare me after my war time escapades." Rex hummed. "My powers are a part of me that I don't wish to hide." He hummed softly.

"That's... That's cool." Peter tilts his head to one side. "Wait, Director Fury went looking for you?"

Rex nodded. "Wanted me to join SHIELD and whatever little pet project he was working on that time." He explained. "I wasn't interested."

"Oh, yeah. He and I have a... complicated relationship, too." Peter chuckles. "I've screened his calls a few too many times, and my Avengers promotion was, well, sort of unorthodox. What kind of project was he looking for you for?"

Rex shrugged. "Have no idea. He never told me and I wasn't interested enough to pursue it." Rex chuckled before looking at Peter. "So, your parents actually allow you to fight alongside the Avengers? Doesn't that terrify them?"

Peter shrugs. "It does, moreso my dad than my mom. I swear I give him a heart attack every time I go on a mission with them, but he's fine with it as long as he's there. He's the one who made me an Avenger, actually."

Rex nodded with a chuckle. "Sounds like a very Tony thing to do." He snorted softly as he grabbed a few more bits and pieces. Not necessarily ingredients, turns out the knight has quite the sweet tooth.

"It is." Peter laughs, looking at the cart. "Do you want me to go find anything else?"

Rex hummed. "Cola." He said after a brief moment of thought. "It's rather refreshing, although I do think it is better in a glass bottle than those silly cans." Rex chuckled.

Peter snorts gently. "Okay, I'll go get it!" He leaves and comes back with the drinks, setting it in the cart. "Is that everything?"

Rex nodded. "I think so. I got enough ingredients to keep us both well fed for the week. You ever made your own pasta?" He asked Peter as he walked towards the cashier.

Peter shakes his head with a smile. "Nope, but I'd love to try!" He follows Rex to the cashier, pulling his dad's card out of his wallet.

Rex stopped Peter and took out his own wallet. "Let me handle it." He spoke softly and smiled at him. "And I'm very happy to teach you how to make pasta. It's very simple."

Peter raises an eyebrow, but puts his wallet away. "That sounds great, thank you. I'm not exactly a good cook, but I can bake pretty decently."

"Well, I suppose we'll have to put that to the test." He chuckled with a small smile as he paid for their groceries. "If you couldn't tell, I have quite the sweet tooth."

"Yeah, I noticed." Peter chuckles. "Nat's taught me some really good cookie recipes. Maybe I'll make them tomorrow!"

Rex smiled. He liked seeing this side of Peter, the happy-go-lucky side of things. Rex paid for everything and picked up the grocery bags. "Come on. You must be starving."

"I am." Peter points at the grocery bags with a smile. "I can take those." He likes being helpful, and it's second nature to offer to carry bags for people.

"Alright." Rex smiled at him and they began the walk back to the tower. "So, your father mentioned you were particularly gifted?" He metioned.

Peter nods, walking next to Rex as they go back to the tower. "Uh, yeah, I am. I'm stronger in math and science, but I've got a knack for languages too. I love chemistry and engineering the most of the sciences, but I still use physics a lot to calculate the arc of my swings! Are you into science at all?"

Rex smiled when Peter lit up at the talk of his interests. "Science? Oh, well, I was never excited by sciences." He explained. "Although I did enjoy biology and I did enjoy zoology when I studied that."

Peter lights up even more at this. "Really? Zoology's really cool! I'm into animal sciences well enough since I've learned, like, almost everything people know about spiders, and I was big into marine biology for a while." He tilts his head to one side, curious. "How'd you end up studying it?"

Rex hummed. "I had a rather interesting encounter with a lion and it fascinated me, so I decided to begin studying. Took a few trips to different parts of the world, found out I was pretty good with animals of all shapes and sizes." Rex explained. "Reared a couple of baby ones too."

Peter's eyes widen with interest. "You reared baby lions? What was that like?"

"It was exciting." Rex smiled. "I still do it occasionally when I have the time." He hummed softly and looked at Peter. "Maybe I can see about you meeting some."

Peter nods enthusiastically. "Yes, please!" He bounces on his toes a bit as they continue on towards the tower, which is getting quite close.

Rex smiled. "I'll see if I can arrange something when you have time off." He hummed softly. "I'm sure you'll enjoy it, although you gotta watch their teeth."

"That sounds great, thank you." Peter smiles back at Rex. "That's what my Spidey sense is for!"

Rex chuckled. "I suppose." He hummed and entered the tower with Peter. They both made their way to the penthouse and to the kitchen. "Here we are. You want to learn how to make dough?"

Peter nods enthusiastically, setting the bags down on the kitchen island. "Sure, if you're willing to teach me."

Rex nodded. "Of course." He smiled and grabbed what he needed to make pizza dough from the grocery bags. "You're gonna get a little messy, hope you're okay with that?"

Peter nods again. "Yep, totally okay with that." He watches Rex take the ingredients out. "Okay, what utensils do we need to start?"

Rex hummed to himself. "A large bowl and a spoon is all we're going to need for this one." He hummed. "Make sure to clean up your hands as well. They'll also be very helpful."

"That's it?" Peter kneels by a lower cabinet and pulls a bowl out before standing and grabbing a mixing spoon. He brings both back to Rex before walking over to the sink and thoroughly washing his hands.

Rex made sure his own hands were washed before lining up the the ingredients they'd need to make pizza dough. "You ready?" He asked softly.

Peter nods excitedly. "Yep!"

Rex smiled at Peter and nodded. "Alright. Here's what we do." Rex began showing Peter how to mix and knead the dough. He even showed him how to toss it properly once the dough was rested.

Peter watches with genuine interest, repeating what Rex shows him. It's a bit haphazard, but he's a fast learner and picks up the basic steps pretty quickly. "Is that okay?"

Rex smiled and nodded. "You're a quick learner." He told him before turning to the rest of the ingredients he had bought. "What toppings do you go for?"

Tony isn't sure what sort of spell manages to get through his suit, or if it's the result of some fuckery in his lab, but what he does know is that he is definitely not an adult anymore.

Instead, he's transformed back into a toddler, five or six maybe, and sitting on the empty couch in his empty penthouse, listening to Jarvis talk to him soothingly when someone enters...

Silas had been away travelling when this accident had occurred. The prince had been attending an event in some part of Asia before returning to see Tony. However, Tony was not as he remembered him being when he arrived at the penthouse that day. The prince placed his duffle bag down on the floor, looking around. "Jarvis? Who's this?" He asked, looking at the small boy sat on the couch.

"And where's Tony?"

[I'm afraid you're looking at him,] Jarvis answers. [Sir seemed to be hit by some sort of transformative spell. He's been returned to his five year old self.]

Tony looks at Silas curiously. "HI!"

Silas blinked before his attention was taken by the small boy's voice. Silas softened slightly and he knelt down to the boy's height. "Hello, little one. How long have you just been sitting there?" He asked, glancing around. "You must be hungry?"

Tony shrugs. "Long time!! Been talking to 'Arvis," he answers happily, immediately reaching his arms out towards Silas. He nods quickly at the second question. "Yes! Food!"

Silas stood up straight again and lifted Tony into his arms. "Well, I'm glad Jarvis could keep you company." He said with a small smile before letting his eyes wander to the kitchen. "Well, lets make something tasty, shall we? You can help me, can't you?"

"Mmhm! He says I'm in the future!" Tony, understandably, sounds awed by that. He's already fascinated with science- He snuggles down to be comfortable in Silas' arms. "Okay!"

Silas chuckled and nodded. "I suppose you are in the future." He hummed, walking into the kitchen with the small boy in his arms. "Let's see. What can I make?" He tapped his chin before having an idea. "I can make you something from my homelands."

Tony smiles brightly, happily snuggled in his arms. "Where are you from?" He asks curiously when Silas mentions making something from his homeland.

"I am from a place called Jasari." Silas explained. "It's a very far away place, but the food is very good." He adjusted Tony onto his hip and entered the kitchen.

Tony looks curious at the mention of Jasari. "What's it like?" He asks eagerly

"Oh well, it's beautiful. It's an archipelago made up of 17 islands and they're all unique and different to one another." He explained to Tony with a soft smile. "They all have different weather patterns and customs. It's a very interesting place to be."

"Sounds pretty," Tony says, and then his eyes widen a little at the description of the weather patterns, thoug hhe of course doesn't fully understand. "Cool!!"

"It's very pretty." Silas reminisced, always missing home when he wasn't near it. He had taken Tony a few times, but obviously little Tony wouldn't remember or know that. He sat the boy on the kitchen counter and grabbed some ingredients from the cupboard. "Would you like to stir?"

Tony beams at the offer to stir, instantly making grabby hands for the spoon that wasn't even out of the draw yet. "Yess!! Wanna help!!" He decides instantly.

Silas smiled and continued to hold the little one on his hip, handing him the spoon. "Alright. You can stir, but you have to be gentle." Silas told him softly, carefully measuring ingredients to put in the bowl. "Jarvis, can you play some songs the little one might like, please?"

Tony stirs, definitely too rough at first. He spills a little on his shirt and then gentles his movement. [Of course, your highness.] Jarvis starts to play some soft Italian music.

Silas smiled at the little boy. "That's it." He hummed and began putting more things into the bowl to make a dough. Silas hummed to himself, an old Jasarian tune his mother always hummed when he was Tony's age.

Tony giggles at the lullaby, especially combined with the Italian music. This guy was so nice!! How did he get into his house? Mr. Jarvis trusts him though!!

Silas wasn't sure what he was supposed to do with this little Tony, but he assumed he would be the one taking care of him. "Jarvis, do we have any clothes for the little one?"

[I'm afraid not, your highness. The best I could offer is perhaps borrowing some of Ms. Romanovs. They will be smaller] Of course not small enough.

Silas shook his head. "No, no. I wouldn't raid Natasha's wardrobe." He chuckled and looked at Tony. "Tony, how would you feel about going out? We can go pick out some clothes, maybe some toys?" He suggested.

[A wise decision.] Tony perks up at the mention fo shopping trips, then frowns. "Don't wanna do photos," he muttes, of course expecting paparazzi.

Silas looked at Tony, his heart breaking a little for the boy. "No, there won't be any photos." He spoke softly, rubbing his back. "It'll just be you and me." Silas reassured him.

"No photos?" Tony asks, looking siginifcantly happier at the assurance. "Okay!! Can I get a space shirt?" He asks excitedly.

Silas chuckled. "I suppose we can find you a space shirt." He smiled softly and carefully spooned the dough into a pan. They were like little dough balls.

"Yayy!!" Tony beams up at him, then looks down at the balls. "What're these for?" He asks, obviously not remembering the recipe.

Silas chuckled. "It's breakfast. Trust me." He smiled and tapped his nose gently as the prince continued to make the breakfast dish he promised the little boy. "They're called Sweet Balls."

Tony considers the little balls. "Can I make some?" He asks, wanting to be helpful and maybe to impress the cool person in his house.

Silas hummed and nodded. "Of course. Just roll them in the palms of your hands." Silas explained, showing Tony how to do it slowly before turning back to the ones already in the frying pan.

Tony gives a giddy sounding giggle as he starts to messily roll the balls in his palm of his hands. His tongue sticks out the corner of his mouth in childish focus.

Silas chuckled softly. "That's it. Good boy." He hummed and watched him roll the balls as best he could. "Just place them on the plate, squirt. I'll put them in the hot oil."

Tony nods quickly and starts to add the balls to the plate. "How long do they cook for?" He asks curiously.

"They only take about three minutes on each side." He hummed and flipped the ones he had put in earlier. "Very quick to make which is why they are perfect for breakfast time."

It had been some time since Silas Ronaoke, a prince of the archipelago nation Jasari, had set foot in New York. It had been some time since he had seen Tony, their on again off again relationship had captivated the press across the globe but they hadn't spoken in a long while. Silas had attempted texts and other forms of communication, but their last interaction hadn't been a pleasant one. Each man wanting something different from their relationship. Silas wanted long term commitment, which scared the life out of Tony.

However, Silas had decided to return and speak with Tony because all Silas could think about was the Iron Man. Every night had been horrible and lonely without the man Silas held so dearly and fondly in his heart. He stepped off the quinjet and greeted the AI voice welcoming him into the Tower before wandering to the lab where he could hear the quiet hum of rock music. It was a sound that brought a small smile to his lips.

Tony hadn't been expecting Silas. He never was, really. Especially after last time... He knew it was his fault. He'd pushed him away because he was scared. Scared of what he wanted, scared of what commitment might mean.

So his head jerks up in shock when he hears his voice. "...what are you doing here?" He breathes.

Silas shrugged off his jacket and folded it over his arm as he slowly approached Tony. He wasn't entirely sure how to explain how he had been feeling to Tony, last time he tried that the two men fell into a huge argument. He swallowed thickly before placing his jacket down on one of the stools at Tony's workbench.

"I thought I'd be fine, you know?" He spoke softly. "I thought if I was back home with my family that I could fall back into my normality." Silas added, twisting his family ring around his finger nervously. "But every night when my head hit the pillow, all I could think about was you. All I could see when I shut my eyes was you." The prince declared.

He let his eyes lift to look at Tony. "I've missed you more than words can describe, so I came back to talk to you."

Tony sighed, putting down the wrench he'd been using on the helmet. He waves a hands and the holographic screens in the air dissapear. "This conversation didn't go well last time," he warns.

He sighs and looks over at Silas, wiping his greasy hands on his already ruined jeans. Silas has seen that look a lot. Too tired, too worn, but working anyway. Just a hint of a spark of passion in his eyes. "You know how I feel about relationships." Yeah. Terrified.

Silas nodded slowly. "I know." He spoke softly and slowly approached him again, not caring about the dirty jeans or his grease covered hands. The prince very carefully reached his hand up, cupping Tony's cheek and letting his thumb brush against his cheekbone. "You have consumed every thought of mine since I left, Tony. "Good." Silas hummed. "Now, maybe I can persuade you to get in the shower whilst I make dinner?" The prince suggested, his fingers combing through his fluffy, curly hair.

Tony groans and looks at Silas again. "...I could probably be persuaded." When was the last time he ate? He's pretty sure he ordered take out yesterday..?

"You can't remember the last time you ate, can you?" Silas teased before rubbing his back, just admiring how handsome Tony was laying beside him. He wasn't surprised by Tony inability to remember if he'd eaten.

Tony blushes ever so slightly at how easily Silas reads him, and then shrugs. "Food is overrated,' he declares, which is definitely a yes and they both know it.

Silas stood up, a smile on the prince's lips as he very easily lifted Tony off the bed and walking to the bathroom. "Get a shower and I'll have food ready by the time you are done." Silas chuckled and carefully placed Tony back down on his feet.

"Sir, yes sir," Tony murmurs teasingly. He mock-salutes before pulling off his shirt and starting to get ready to shower. He gives Silas a soft look before he leaves.

Silas pecked his cheek before leaving, heading downstairs to begin making food for both of them. A traditional Jasarian chicken dish he had made once before for Tony.

Tony showers quickly, and then rejoins Silas downstairs. His mouth waters at the smell of the Jasarian dish. "Fuck, Si. Smells delicious... god."

Silas chuckled. "Good to see I'm making it right, I always get a little confused." He explained with a hum. He stirred a pot and looked at Tony. "How was your shower?"

"It smells incredible," Tony promises, coming to lean heavily against Silas. "It was good. Definitely woke me up."

Silas wrapped an arm around Tony and held him close. "Good. You look brighter." He spoke softly, leaning down to plant a kiss on his forehead. "And you smell less like motor oil." Silas teased.

Tony drapes his arms over Silas' shoulders with a fond smile. He can't believe how domestic he's being, honestly. "Well, that's probably a good thing, hm?"

"A very good thing." Silas hummed whilst pressing a gentle kiss on Tony's lips. "Although, perhaps I am a little partial to the motor oil smell." Silas teased before kissing his cheek.

Tony rolls his eyes, "I know you are," he teases, thinking back to the many times Silas had come down to drag him out of the lab only for them not to leave at all.

Silas laughed. "Maybe, maybe." He hummed and began plating up the dish. "Eat. Divines know you need it." He smiled and wrapped an arm about Tony's waist. "You'll enjoy it."

Tony leans back to press a kiss to Silas' jaw and then smiles. "Hey, I eat just fine. ButI never turn down your cooking, so..." He sits down happily to eat.

Tony isn't sure what sort of spell manages to get through his suit, or if it's the result of some fuckery in his lab, but what he does know is that he is definitely not an adult anymore.

Instead, he's transformed back into a toddler, five or six maybe, and sitting on the empty couch in his empty penthouse, listening to Jarvis talk to him soothingly when someone enters...

Silas had been away travelling when this accident had occurred. The prince had been attending an event in some part of Asia before returning to see Tony. However, Tony was not as he remembered him being when he arrived at the penthouse that day. The prince placed his duffle bag down on the floor, looking around. "Jarvis? Who's this?" He asked, looking at the small boy sat on the couch.

"And where's Tony?"

[I'm afraid you're looking at him,] Jarvis answers. [Sir seemed to be hit by some sort of transformative spell. He's been returned to his five year old self.]

Tony looks at Silas curiously. "HI!"

Silas blinked before his attention was taken by the small boy's voice. Silas softened slightly and he knelt down to the boy's height. "Hello, little one. How long have you just been sitting there?" He asked, glancing around. "You must be hungry?"

Tony shrugs. "Long time!! Been talking to 'Arvis," he answers happily, immediately reaching his arms out towards Silas. He nods quickly at the second question. "Yes! Food!"

Silas stood up straight again and lifted Tony into his arms. "Well, I'm glad Jarvis could keep you company." He said with a small smile before letting his eyes wander to the kitchen. "Well, lets make something tasty, shall we? You can help me, can't you?"

"Mmhm! He says I'm in the future!" Tony, understandably, sounds awed by that. He's already fascinated with science- He snuggles down to be comfortable in Silas' arms. "Okay!"

Silas chuckled and nodded. "I suppose you are in the future." He hummed, walking into the kitchen with the small boy in his arms. "Let's see. What can I make?" He tapped his chin before having an idea. "I can make you something from my homelands."

Tony smiles brightly, happily snuggled in his arms. "Where are you from?" He asks curiously when Silas mentions making something from his homeland.

"I am from a place called Jasari." Silas explained. "It's a very far away place, but the food is very good." He adjusted Tony onto his hip and entered the kitchen.

Tony looks curious at the mention of Jasari. "What's it like?" He asks eagerly

"Oh well, it's beautiful. It's an archipelago made up of 17 islands and they're all unique and different to one another." He explained to Tony with a soft smile. "They all have different weather patterns and customs. It's a very interesting place to be."

"Sounds pretty," Tony says, and then his eyes widen a little at the description of the weather patterns, thoug hhe of course doesn't fully understand. "Cool!!"

"It's very pretty." Silas reminisced, always missing home when he wasn't near it. He had taken Tony a few times, but obviously little Tony wouldn't remember or know that. He sat the boy on the kitchen counter and grabbed some ingredients from the cupboard. "Would you like to stir?"

Tony beams at the offer to stir, instantly making grabby hands for the spoon that wasn't even out of the draw yet. "Yess!! Wanna help!!" He decides instantly.

Silas smiled and continued to hold the little one on his hip, handing him the spoon. "Alright. You can stir, but you have to be gentle." Silas told him softly, carefully measuring ingredients to put in the bowl. "Jarvis, can you play some songs the little one might like, please?"

Tony stirs, definitely too rough at first. He spills a little on his shirt and then gentles his movement. [Of course, your highness.] Jarvis starts to play some soft Italian music.

Silas smiled at the little boy. "That's it." He hummed and began putting more things into the bowl to make a dough. Silas hummed to himself, an old Jasarian tune his mother always hummed when he was Tony's age.

Tony giggles at the lullaby, especially combined with the Italian music. This guy was so nice!! How did he get into his house? Mr. Jarvis trusts him though!!

Silas wasn't sure what he was supposed to do with this little Tony, but he assumed he would be the one taking care of him. "Jarvis, do we have any clothes for the little one?"

Silas shook his head. "No, no. I wouldn't raid Natasha's wardrobe." He chuckled and looked at Tony. "Tony, how would you feel about going out? We can go pick out some clothes, maybe some toys?" He suggested.

Silas looked at Tony, his heart breaking a little for the boy. "No, there won't be any photos." He spoke softly, rubbing his back. "It'll just be you and me." Silas reassured him.

Silas chuckled. "I suppose we can find you a space shirt." He smiled softly and carefully spooned the dough into a pan. They were like little dough balls.

Silas chuckled. "It's breakfast. Trust me." He smiled and tapped his nose gently as the prince continued to make the breakfast dish he promised the little boy. "They're called Sweet Balls."

Tony considers the little balls. "Can I make some?" He asks, wanting to be helpful and maybe to impress the cool person in his house.

Rex Myers had been a lone wolf for most of his many many many years on the planet. That was until he became guardian to a baby boy after a particularly hectic trip to New Orleans. For the next 11 years, his entire life had revolved around Remy and Rex wouldn't have changed a thing about it. The pair had become quite the duo, travelling between the US, Scotland and Italy as Rex had ties to all of them.

However, now they were settled back in their apartment back in New York with the summer slowly coming to a close as July reached its end. That morning, Rex had woken to start breakfast when his eyes fell upon a scroll tied shut with a golden ribbon. A scroll he recognised. There was a second scroll laying beside it, this one with a red ribbon sealing it shut. He gathered them up and made his way into the kitchen, letting Remy sleep in.

Remy liked to sleep in when he could. When he had to get up early, it was with much feet dragging and complaining (which he insisted wasn't whining, but it certainly sounded like it).

By the time he emerged from the covers, the sun had already rose. His hair was a mess, and he only had one sock on. Yawning, Remy plopped down in a chair. "Bon matin." He said.

"Good morning, kiddo." Rex greeted him whilst ruffling his hair. "You sleep well?" He asked, his eyes glued to the scroll address to himself. Rex had been offered a job at a school for supernaturally gifted people. A school Remy had been accepted into as a first year student.

"You have mail." Rex told Remy, handing him the scroll with the golden ribbon tied around it.

"Ouis, bon. Did you?" He shot Rex a glare as he pushed his mussed hair out of his face. It was getting long, long enough that it was constantly in his eyes.

Remy took the scroll, muttering something about it being very fancy in French as he tugged the ribbon off. He read it once, paused, and read it again more slowly this time, making sure he was actually understanding it right.

"It was about the same as my normal sleeps." Rex hummed as he watched Remy's reaction, unsure of how this would go down. "So? What are you thinking?" Rex asked softly, putting a pause on his breakfast plans and sitting down at the table with his son.

"Because they have offered me a job at the school." Rex explained to Remy, showing him the scroll he had received.

His wings fluttered. "..I dunno. School an' I ain't agreed when I tried it." Remy looked over at Rex's scroll, briefly scanning it.

Looking back down at the scroll, he scowled at it. It wasn't that he didn't do well in school, it was that he didn't do well stuck inside, surrounded by others his age, and forced to pay attention to a single topic for long stretches. Remy would rather be outside with a book than inside at a desk.

Rex nodded. "Well, this school from what I hear is different." He explained to Remy softly. "It's a school for kids like you and me. Kids who are different and can do unique and unusual things." Rex explained further, trying to make this sound a little more appealing to Remy.

"But if you're not interested, I can reject the job offer and you and I can just return to what we're doing." Rex told him, not forcing anything on Remy. He would never do that, eveything he had done was to give Remy a good life.

Kids who were like them. Remy perked up a little at that. Between him and Rex, he'd never met anyone else like them. Magic. "..Wha' kinda job did dey give ya?" He asked, curious.

Maybe.. it would be nice to go. If it was for magic kids, then that meant that magic might be taught there. Remy had started to learn how to glamor his wings, but he still wasn't very good at it.

Rex chuckled. "Well, they offered me a job as a teacher." He said. "They want me to teach ancient runes and lost languages." Rex added before looking at Remy's scroll. "I think it could be fun for you, kiddo. Just think about it, you could meet kids like you and learn about different kinds of magic. Sounds like a win win to me."

Remy chewed on his bottom lip, picking at the chapped skin. "I guess yer righ'.." He looked back down at the scroll.

School. It might be more tolerable with others like him, with Rex. He still didn't want to be cooped up all day.

Rex smiled at him and carefully brushed hair away from Remy's eyes. "Don't be nervous, squirt. You're going to do great and you'll make so many friends. That'll be fun, huh?" Rex asked, trying to ease the few nerves Remy had left.

"...Ouis," he said reluctantly. Remy gave him a small smile. It still didn't sound like the best idea, but Rex seemed to think it was a good idea, and it wasn't like Remy would be alone there, either.

Rex looked at Remy and hugged him gently. "Hey. You know it's gonna be alright cause I'll be there with you." He reassured his son. "And I'm sure you won't be the only one nervous about it."

"After a few centuries on this planet, you begin to get bored. You've watched everything happen, fought in conflicts you couldn't have imagined, travelled the world, and never really settled with the idea that every day your eyes will open. Then... You get a job opportunity."

Rex Myers stepped out of the yellow taxi cab at the front of Stark Tower. For once, he hadn't been the one seeking out employment, employment had sought him out. Tony Stark and his wife, Pepper, were going travelling to promote the expansion of Stark Indistries as a global enterprise and neither were comfortable with leaving their teenage son at home alone.

Enter Rex Myers, immortal knight born more than 700 years ago and possessing magical abilities never seen before. Not that Rex really thought much of his magical abilities, they were just something he had been taught, something quite literally inked into his skin. He hummed to himself before stepping inside and riding the elevator up to the penthouse suite.

When the doors opened, he was instantly greeted by the surprised face of his new charge. "Good morning." Rex greeted with a warm smile.

Peter stares back at the man, scrambling to stand up from his place on the couch. He'd been told that someone's going to be watching him while his parents are away, but he'd assumed it'll be someone like Natasha or Bruce, maybe Clint if he's in town. He's got no clue why this man would be here.

"Who the hell are you?" Peter swallows, trying not to look startled or afraid but definitely looking a little bit of both. "How'd you get in here?"

Rex had assumed Tony might have told Peter about him, but he has assumed wrong. He would deal with that later. Rex placed his duffel bag down and showed Peter he had a key. "Your father gave me a key. "My name is Rex, your father asked me to watch over you whilst he and your mother are away." Rex explained, taking a few steps towards Peter.

"I'm sorry for startling you. I assumed your father might have told you I was the one he had chosen." Rex chuckled, twisting his sapphire ring around his finger a few times. "Have you eaten?"

Peter looks at the duffle bag, then at the key. He suppresses a groan as he raises his head to Rex's face again. "He hired a babysitter?" His face is caught somewhere between mildly annoyed and stunned.

"It's okay. No, he didn't. I mean, he said he was going to have someone come check up on me, but I assumed he meant Nat or someone." He fidgets nervously with a thin silver web shooter on his wrist. "Uh, no. I was about to go to Delmar's for a sandwich."

"I prefer the term bodyguard." Rex mentioned with a small smile. "And I don't want you to feel babysat. You seem quite capable, if a little young." The older man mused whilst adjusting the cuffs of his shirt.

Rex studied Peter for a moment. "Well, I was going to head to the grocery store for ingredients to make calzones if you want one of those?" Rex offered to Peter with a small smile. Rex was half Italian, so a lot of his cooking came from that side of his culture.

"Spidey doesn't need a bodyguard..." Peter mutters under his breath, but becomes less hostile when Rex says he seems capable.

He tilts his head to one side, just slightly, when Rex mentions calzones. He loves Italian food. "...calzones sound good." He returns the small smile.

"Your father seemed to disagree." He chuckled before picking up his duffel bag again, placing it on the glass dining room table this time. Rex plucked out his wallet and slipped it into the pocket of his jeans. "Come on then. You can accompany me to the grocery store and I can learn more about you." Rex said as he began crossing the room towards the elevator again.

A faint cyan glow pulsed beneath his shirt, coming from the arcane tattoos he had been plastered with since he was 8 years old. "Anything in particular I should know about you?"

"Shit, you heard that... Uh, that's classified information which is probably in whatever contract my dad made you sign." Peter picks up his phone and wallet from the coffee table and follows Rex.

He startles slightly at the glow pulsing under Rex's shirt. "Your... Your chest is glowing. That's more important than anything I have to say." He looks at Rex's face. "Is it supposed to do that or do I need to prep the medbay?"

Rex paused and looked down at his chest before looking at Peter. He shook his head. "No, that's very normal for me." He explained as he lifted up his shirt to reveal the tattoos glowing. "They do that. Just part of being able to do arcane magic I suppose." He chuckled as if this was the most casual thing on the planet.

"And your father did explain everything to me about your double life. Your secret is safe with me." Rex pat Peter's shoulder before stepping into the elevator with a hum.

Peter blinks a few times at the tattoos. "Uh... Arcane magic?" He follows Rex into the elevator, fidgeting with his web shooter again as he raises an eyebrow. He knows about Asgardian magic and whatever Stephen's got, but he's not heard of arcane magic.

Rex nodded. "My father taught me when I was very young. Thought it would give me an advantage in training to be a knight." Rex explained to Peter whilst pressing a button on the elevator to go back down to the first floor. "I suppose your father didn't mention I am slightly older than I appear, did he?" Rex smiled at Peter.

Peter blinks at Rex more, leaning against the elevator wall. "A knight? Like, a knight-knight?"

He squints at him, silently cursing his dad for not saying anything about this man. "How old are you, exactly?"

"Yes. A knight-knight." Rex answered whilst checking his old gold pocket watch. "I was born in 1373 in Scotland before being raised between there and Italy as a child." Rex explained. "I was five when I learned I was immortal after almost drowning on a fishing trip with my father." He added before stepping out of the elevator when the doors opened.

Peter stares at the pocket watch for a moment, considering the likelihood of Rex telling the truth. There's no reason for him to lie, so Peter considers those chances pretty good. "You almost drowned? You're immortal?" He follows Rex out of the elevator, darting around the people in the lobby in a well-practiced method as he walks out to the street.

Rex nodded. "I am immortal." He hummed softly as he moved through the crowds of the lobby with ease. "Like I said, I was born in 1373, so I've been around for a little while." He smiled at the teenager. "I don't bite, you can ask questions."

Peter nods. "Okay, yeah, I've got a ton. One: what's arcane magic?" He looks up at Rex with a curious expression.

Rex chuckled. He should have seen that one coming first. "Arcane magic has some connection to the core elements." He hummed. "Although, usually involves a lot of runes and ancient symbols." Rex explained whilst rolling up his sleeves. "This magic is connected to me through these markings on my skin. They fuel my power."

"That's so cool!" Peter stares at the markings for a moment before looking at Rex again. "What's being immortal like?"

"It's an interesting thing." He hummed softly. "It can be rather... Jarring at first, but you do get used to that feeling after a few hundred years of life." Rex hummed softly.

"Jarring." Peter tilts his head at Rex with furrowed eyebrows as they walk towards the grocery store. "Do you scar? Since you're immortal, I mean. I don't because of my healing factor, but... can you still get hurt?"

Rex nodded. "Yes. I can still be injured, I still bleed and scar." He explained as he walked with Peter. "I just never die because of those injuries, but I will always be left with the reminder of what I put myself through."

"Reminder of what you put yourself through?" Peter tilts his head to the other side.

Rex chuckled. "Life as a knight was something..." He smiled and looked at his sapphire ring again. "I've had a few swords sliced through my abdomen. Many thought I was cursed when I would just continue fighting."

Peter's jaw gapes a little. "Wow. That had to hurt. I haven't dealt with sword injuries before, but stab wounds suck." He nods to the grocery store. "That one?"

Rex chuckled. "They're definitely not pleasant." He hummed and nodded at the grocery store. "Yes, that one will do as long as I can get what I need for dough." He hummed, fully intending to make these calzones from scratch.

Peter raises an eyebrow, following Rex in. "You're making the dough?"

Rex chuckled. "Of course. It's easy enough to do." He hummed to himself before beginning to wander the aisles. "So, what about you? What should I know about you?"

Peter thinks for a moment, unsure of what's important. Rex already knows the triple-life thing, so what else is there? What do regular people tell others about themselves?

"Uh, I've got a boyfriend?" He offers. It's his go-to for the rare occasions where he's got nothing to say. "His name's Harley. He might show up at the penthouse at some point seeing as he lives at the tower, so it's probably important that you know about him."

Rex's fingertips glowed cyan before a carton of eggs floated into the cart. "A boyfriend." He hummed as he thought of how to deal with the idea of guarding two boys. "I'm sure he's a good kid, just like you." Rex mentioned whilst using his powers to gather up more ingredients he needed.

"As long as you tell me when he's coming over, then I have no objections." Rex added with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Pick what you want for your calzone."

Whether or not Harley's a good kid has been heavily debated for years, but Peter nods with a small smile. "Thanks, I'll tell him to give us some advanced notice."

He reaches for the ham and ricotta cheese and puts them in the cart. "So... Do you have any questions for me? I'm kinda out of important things." He laughs softly.

Rex glanced at Peter. "Well, maybe we should start with your schedule? Things you do regularly that I may need to accompany you or collect you from afterwards." Rex inquired as he continued to float things into the cart.

Peter nods. "Right, right. Uh... Well, there's school. Happy would usually pick me up, but he's with my parents. I don't have an Aca Deca meet soon and I can get to and from my friend, Ned's place on my own."

He watches as Rex floats the items into the cart. "You're not worried about doing that in public? I mean, it's cool and all, but there's, like, HYDRA and stuff."

Rex nodded, making note of Peter's schedule. Tony had mentioned school times and where the car keys were kept. It would take some time getting used to taking care of a teenager again, it had been a long while since he'd done it.

"I've already knocked back SHIELD when Fury came looking for me. HYDRA don't particularly scare me after my war time escapades." Rex hummed. "My powers are a part of me that I don't wish to hide." He hummed softly.

"That's... That's cool." Peter tilts his head to one side. "Wait, Director Fury went looking for you?"

Rex nodded. "Wanted me to join SHIELD and whatever little pet project he was working on that time." He explained. "I wasn't interested."

"Oh, yeah. He and I have a... complicated relationship, too." Peter chuckles. "I've screened his calls a few too many times, and my Avengers promotion was, well, sort of unorthodox. What kind of project was he looking for you for?"

Rex shrugged. "Have no idea. He never told me and I wasn't interested enough to pursue it." Rex chuckled before looking at Peter. "So, your parents actually allow you to fight alongside the Avengers? Doesn't that terrify them?"

Peter shrugs. "It does, moreso my dad than my mom. I swear I give him a heart attack every time I go on a mission with them, but he's fine with it as long as he's there. He's the one who made me an Avenger, actually."

Rex nodded with a chuckle. "Sounds like a very Tony thing to do." He snorted softly as he grabbed a few more bits and pieces. Not necessarily ingredients, turns out the knight has quite the sweet tooth.

"It is." Peter laughs, looking at the cart. "Do you want me to go find anything else?"

Rex hummed. "Cola." He said after a brief moment of thought. "It's rather refreshing, although I do think it is better in a glass bottle than those silly cans." Rex chuckled.

Peter snorts gently. "Okay, I'll go get it!" He leaves and comes back with the drinks, setting it in the cart. "Is that everything?"

Rex nodded. "I think so. I got enough ingredients to keep us both well fed for the week. You ever made your own pasta?" He asked Peter as he walked towards the cashier.

Peter shakes his head with a smile. "Nope, but I'd love to try!" He follows Rex to the cashier, pulling his dad's card out of his wallet.

Rex stopped Peter and took out his own wallet. "Let me handle it." He spoke softly and smiled at him. "And I'm very happy to teach you how to make pasta. It's very simple."

Peter raises an eyebrow, but puts his wallet away. "That sounds great, thank you. I'm not exactly a good cook, but I can bake pretty decently."

"Well, I suppose we'll have to put that to the test." He chuckled with a small smile as he paid for their groceries. "If you couldn't tell, I have quite the sweet tooth."

"Yeah, I noticed." Peter chuckles. "Nat's taught me some really good cookie recipes. Maybe I'll make them tomorrow!"

Rex smiled. He liked seeing this side of Peter, the happy-go-lucky side of things. Rex paid for everything and picked up the grocery bags. "Come on. You must be starving."

"I am." Peter points at the grocery bags with a smile. "I can take those." He likes being helpful, and it's second nature to offer to carry bags for people.

"Alright." Rex smiled at him and they began the walk back to the tower. "So, your father mentioned you were particularly gifted?" He metioned.

Peter nods, walking next to Rex as they go back to the tower. "Uh, yeah, I am. I'm stronger in math and science, but I've got a knack for languages too. I love chemistry and engineering the most of the sciences, but I still use physics a lot to calculate the arc of my swings! Are you into science at all?"

Rex smiled when Peter lit up at the talk of his interests. "Science? Oh, well, I was never excited by sciences." He explained. "Although I did enjoy biology and I did enjoy zoology when I studied that."

Peter lights up even more at this. "Really? Zoology's really cool! I'm into animal sciences well enough since I've learned, like, almost everything people know about spiders, and I was big into marine biology for a while." He tilts his head to one side, curious. "How'd you end up studying it?"

Rex hummed. "I had a rather interesting encounter with a lion and it fascinated me, so I decided to begin studying. Took a few trips to different parts of the world, found out I was pretty good with animals of all shapes and sizes." Rex explained. "Reared a couple of baby ones too."

Peter's eyes widen with interest. "You reared baby lions? What was that like?"

"It was exciting." Rex smiled. "I still do it occasionally when I have the time." He hummed softly and looked at Peter. "Maybe I can see about you meeting some."

Peter nods enthusiastically. "Yes, please!" He bounces on his toes a bit as they continue on towards the tower, which is getting quite close.

Rex smiled. "I'll see if I can arrange something when you have time off." He hummed softly. "I'm sure you'll enjoy it, although you gotta watch their teeth."

"That sounds great, thank you." Peter smiles back at Rex. "That's what my Spidey sense is for!"

Rex chuckled. "I suppose." He hummed and entered the tower with Peter. They both made their way to the penthouse and to the kitchen. "Here we are. You want to learn how to make dough?"

Peter nods enthusiastically, setting the bags down on the kitchen island. "Sure, if you're willing to teach me."

Rex nodded. "Of course." He smiled and grabbed what he needed to make pizza dough from the grocery bags. "You're gonna get a little messy, hope you're okay with that?"

Peter nods again. "Yep, totally okay with that." He watches Rex take the ingredients out. "Okay, what utensils do we need to start?"

Rex hummed to himself. "A large bowl and a spoon is all we're going to need for this one." He hummed. "Make sure to clean up your hands as well. They'll also be very helpful."

"That's it?" Peter kneels by a lower cabinet and pulls a bowl out before standing and grabbing a mixing spoon. He brings both back to Rex before walking over to the sink and thoroughly washing his hands.

Rex made sure his own hands were washed before lining up the the ingredients they'd need to make pizza dough. "You ready?" He asked softly.

Tony isn't sure what sort of spell manages to get through his suit, or if it's the result of some fuckery in his lab, but what he does know is that he is definitely not an adult anymore.

Instead, he's transformed back into a toddler, five or six maybe, and sitting on the empty couch in his empty penthouse, listening to Jarvis talk to him soothingly when someone enters...

Silas had been away travelling when this accident had occurred. The prince had been attending an event in some part of Asia before returning to see Tony. However, Tony was not as he remembered him being when he arrived at the penthouse that day. The prince placed his duffle bag down on the floor, looking around. "Jarvis? Who's this?" He asked, looking at the small boy sat on the couch.

"And where's Tony?"

[I'm afraid you're looking at him,] Jarvis answers. [Sir seemed to be hit by some sort of transformative spell. He's been returned to his five year old self.]

Tony looks at Silas curiously. "HI!"

Silas blinked before his attention was taken by the small boy's voice. Silas softened slightly and he knelt down to the boy's height. "Hello, little one. How long have you just been sitting there?" He asked, glancing around. "You must be hungry?"

Tony shrugs. "Long time!! Been talking to 'Arvis," he answers happily, immediately reaching his arms out towards Silas. He nods quickly at the second question. "Yes! Food!"

Silas stood up straight again and lifted Tony into his arms. "Well, I'm glad Jarvis could keep you company." He said with a small smile before letting his eyes wander to the kitchen. "Well, lets make something tasty, shall we? You can help me, can't you?"

"Mmhm! He says I'm in the future!" Tony, understandably, sounds awed by that. He's already fascinated with science- He snuggles down to be comfortable in Silas' arms. "Okay!"

Silas chuckled and nodded. "I suppose you are in the future." He hummed, walking into the kitchen with the small boy in his arms. "Let's see. What can I make?" He tapped his chin before having an idea. "I can make you something from my homelands."

Tony smiles brightly, happily snuggled in his arms. "Where are you from?" He asks curiously when Silas mentions making something from his homeland.

"I am from a place called Jasari." Silas explained. "It's a very far away place, but the food is very good." He adjusted Tony onto his hip and entered the kitchen.

Tony looks curious at the mention of Jasari. "What's it like?" He asks eagerly

"Oh well, it's beautiful. It's an archipelago made up of 17 islands and they're all unique and different to one another." He explained to Tony with a soft smile. "They all have different weather patterns and customs. It's a very interesting place to be."

"Sounds pretty," Tony says, and then his eyes widen a little at the description of the weather patterns, thoug hhe of course doesn't fully understand. "Cool!!"

"It's very pretty." Silas reminisced, always missing home when he wasn't near it. He had taken Tony a few times, but obviously little Tony wouldn't remember or know that. He sat the boy on the kitchen counter and grabbed some ingredients from the cupboard. "Would you like to stir?"

Tony beams at the offer to stir, instantly making grabby hands for the spoon that wasn't even out of the draw yet. "Yess!! Wanna help!!" He decides instantly.

Silas smiled and continued to hold the little one on his hip, handing him the spoon. "Alright. You can stir, but you have to be gentle." Silas told him softly, carefully measuring ingredients to put in the bowl. "Jarvis, can you play some songs the little one might like, please?"

Tony stirs, definitely too rough at first. He spills a little on his shirt and then gentles his movement. [Of course, your highness.] Jarvis starts to play some soft Italian music.

Silas smiled at the little boy. "That's it." He hummed and began putting more things into the bowl to make a dough. Silas hummed to himself, an old Jasarian tune his mother always hummed when he was Tony's age.

Tony giggles at the lullaby, especially combined with the Italian music. This guy was so nice!! How did he get into his house? Mr. Jarvis trusts him though!!

Silas wasn't sure what he was supposed to do with this little Tony, but he assumed he would be the one taking care of him. "Jarvis, do we have any clothes for the little one?"

Silas shook his head. "No, no. I wouldn't raid Natasha's wardrobe." He chuckled and looked at Tony. "Tony, how would you feel about going out? We can go pick out some clothes, maybe some toys?" He suggested.

[A wise decision.] Tony perks up at the mention fo shopping trips, then frowns. "Don't wanna do photos," he muttes, of course expecting paparazzi.

Silas looked at Tony, his heart breaking a little for the boy. "No, there won't be any photos." He spoke softly, rubbing his back. "It'll just be you and me." Silas reassured him.

"No photos?" Tony asks, looking siginifcantly happier at the assurance. "Okay!! Can I get a space shirt?" He asks excitedly.

Silas chuckled. "I suppose we can find you a space shirt." He smiled softly and carefully spooned the dough into a pan. They were like little dough balls.

"Yayy!!" Tony beams up at him, then looks down at the balls. "What're these for?" He asks, obviously not remembering the recipe.

Silas chuckled. "It's breakfast. Trust me." He smiled and tapped his nose gently as the prince continued to make the breakfast dish he promised the little boy. "They're called Sweet Balls."

Tony considers the little balls. "Can I make some?" He asks, wanting to be helpful and maybe to impress the cool person in his house.

Silas hummed and nodded. "Of course. Just roll them in the palms of your hands." Silas explained, showing Tony how to do it slowly before turning back to the ones already in the frying pan.

It had been some time since Silas Ronaoke, a prince of the archipelago nation Jasari, had set foot in New York. It had been some time since he had seen Tony, their on again off again relationship had captivated the press across the globe but they hadn't spoken in a long while. Silas had attempted texts and other forms of communication, but their last interaction hadn't been a pleasant one. Each man wanting something different from their relationship. Silas wanted long term commitment, which scared the life out of Tony.

However, Silas had decided to return and speak with Tony because all Silas could think about was the Iron Man. Every night had been horrible and lonely without the man Silas held so dearly and fondly in his heart. He stepped off the quinjet and greeted the AI voice welcoming him into the Tower before wandering to the lab where he could hear the quiet hum of rock music. It was a sound that brought a small smile to his lips.

Tony hadn't been expecting Silas. He never was, really. Especially after last time... He knew it was his fault. He'd pushed him away because he was scared. Scared of what he wanted, scared of what commitment might mean.

Even though he trusted Silas, it was hard to unlive a life of betrayal.

So his head jerks up in shock when he hears his voice. "...what are you doing here?" He breathes.

Silas shrugged off his jacket and folded it over his arm as he slowly approached Tony. He wasn't entirely sure how to explain how he had been feeling to Tony, last time he tried that the two men fell into a huge argument. He swallowed thickly before placing his jacket down on one of the stools at Tony's workbench.

"I thought I'd be fine, you know?" He spoke softly. "I thought if I was back home with my family that I could fall back into my normality." Silas added, twisting his family ring around his finger nervously. "But every night when my head hit the pillow, all I could think about was you. All I could see when I shut my eyes was you." The prince declared.

He let his eyes lift to look at Tony. "I've missed you more than words can describe, so I came back to talk to you."

Tony sighed, putting down the wrench he'd been using on the helmet. He waves a hands and the holographic screens in the air dissapear. "This conversation didn't go well last time," he warns.

He sighs and looks over at Silas, wiping his greasy hands on his already ruined jeans. Silas has seen that look a lot. Too tired, too worn, but working anyway. Just a hint of a spark of passion in his eyes. "You know how I feel about relationships." Yeah. Terrified.

Silas nodded slowly. "I know." He spoke softly and slowly approached him again, not caring about the dirty jeans or his grease covered hands. The prince very carefully reached his hand up, cupping Tony's cheek and letting his thumb brush against his cheekbone. "You have consumed every thought of mine since I left, Tony. I have missed you more than I can describe with words."

Those pale green eyes looked into Tony's eyes, they were soft and warm. "I know you are scared, and I'm not looking for commitment." Silas whispered, leaning closer to Tony and pressing a gentle kiss against his forehead. "I just want to see where this could go again."

Tony couldn't help it. He leant into Silas' hand the second it cupped his cheek. his eyes fluttered shut for a moment. "...I missed you too, you know," he whispered. "Fucking hated myself for it, but yeah. I missed you."

He hated how he melted. But he did. "You know that isn't fair to you. You want more. I don't know... if I can give you that. It's too much of a risk, Si.."

Silas continued to let his thumb glide across Tony's cheek in a soothing motion. "For once, can you not think with your head?" He asked softly. "I'm willing to risk everything if it means I can just be near you again, hold you again." He whispered softly, his free hand gently snaking around Tony's waist.

"I know this is terrifying to you, but if you trust me, then what have you got to lose?" Silas asked sincerely, his forehead coming to rest against Tony's.

"You're holding me now," Tony points out, fighting to not move closer and completely melt into Silas' hold. God, though. He wants to. He really fucking wants to. "I don't want to hurt you." He never had and he never would.

A quiet, wet laugh. "You know the answer to that." The painful thing was, he did. Because Tony did trust him, had told him. The people he'd loved, the countless betrayals. Ty, Sunset, Obie. The reasons he wanted but wouldn't let himself have.

Silas' lips curled into a smile when Tony pointed out the obvious in their conversation. Another piece of him he had missed. "Tony." He whispered softly. "At least hear me out on the second half of my proposal." He said softly, pulling back a little just to look at Tony in full view.

"Come to Jasari with me for a while." He said. "And then, if you still feel the same, we won't go any further and I'll let you live your life in peace." Silas promised.

Tony sighs. "I have responsibilities, Si," he points out. "I've got a company to run, and what if th e Avengers get a call to assemble? I can't just up and leave for..." Who knows how long.

Besides, part of him worries that if he leaes, he won't want to go back to his own life.

"Can't Pepper handle things with your company?" He asked softly. "And I'm sure the Avengers will survive. There's five other members." Silas told him. "I'm also not opposed to helping if a superhero emergency pops up." Silas stated.

"Please Tony. What are you so scared of?" Silas asked, his voice slightly more serious. He felt that Tony was just throwing excuses at him as a way to not let him get close.

"Pepper has enough on her plate.." Tony trails off weakly. He knows he's jsut giving Silas pointless reasons that he can't come. Beause he's right, he is scared.

He sighs, and looks away. "I'm scared of how much I want you," he admits quietly. "I'm sscared that I'm going to go with you, and have everything be.. perfect and I'm going to-. I'm scared."

Silas gently looped his fingers under his chin and lifted his head up. "Look at me. It's okay to be scared." He whispered softly and kissed his forehead.

The prince cleared his throat. "I'm in New York for a couple of days at least. Could you maybe think on it?" He asked softly. "And if you truly don't want to go, then we can call an end to whatever it is we are." Silas said seriously even if it would break his heart to do so.

Tony almost shakes his head. He's not supposed to be scared. Stark men are made of iron, right? Iron didn't bend, or fear.

Still, he can't help but soften ever so slightly. "Why don't you stay with me?" He asks quietly. "We'll get dinner a couple times.. try the whole.. together thing out?"

Silas looked at Tony and let his finger trace the shape of Tony's jaw. "I'll stay with you." He spoke softly. "But only if that's something you want?" He added, remaining very close to Tony with his arm gently wrapped around Tony's waist.

"I'll always stay when you ask me." Silas smiled softly. The prince pulled Tony into a hug, his arms wrapped around Tony's waist as he held him close to comfort him.

He wraps his arms around SIlas in return, god, he'd missed him. Down to the damns scent.

Silas held Tony close and kissed his forehead softly. "Then I'll stay and we can see where this goes." He spoke softly, allowing his hands to hold onto Tony's hips before lifting him up with little to no effort. "But I'd appreciate you at least meeting someone special to me."

Tony looks up at Silas. "Okay," he relents. He reaches up to strokes his hang over Silas' cheekbone, gently cupping his jaw. "But I'm not meeting anyone till I've had a shower, a shave, a kiss, and either a coffee or a nap. Not nessecarilyin that order."

Silas smiled at him, always drawn in by Tony's mannerisms and ways of phrasing things. "I don't think my friend will necessarily mind the way you look right now, I know I don't." Silas pressed a light kiss against his lips. "But there's one off your check list."

"You are attracted to me, and while everyone is attracted to me, I cannot garuntee your friends ood taste. Also, I've been down here for about a week and I do need a real shower." He softens at the kiss, though. "But thank you anyway."

"Anthony Stark." Silas laughed as he began climbing the stairs with Tony in his arms. "This is what happens when I leave you alone." He teased him whilst going to Tony's bedroom. Silas remembered the lay out of Tony's mansion even though he hadn't been there in a while.

"Don't call me Anthony," Tony replies, same as he always does. He laughs when Silas carries him upstairs. He likes that he remembers the layout of the house. "Stay with me?"

Silas smiled at him and nodded. "Of course I'll stay. I'll go wherever you tell me." Silas reassured Tony whilst climbing the stairs with little effort. The prince admired Tony's face, gently brushing his lips against Tony's chin.

Tony just shakes his head, a little flustered. He kinda likes the fact that Silas can carry him around with seemingly no effort. "...Right. Shower first, then nap. Mm, no, nap first."

Silas chuckled and nodded. "Nap first. Don't need you falling asleep in the shower." He teased him whilst entering Tony's bedroom, carefully laying him down on his bed. The prince kicked off his own boots and lay down beside Tony, wrapping his arms around him.

Tony rolls his eyes. "Have I told you before I hate how logical you are?" He asks curiously, teasing. He melts into Silas' arms, though, curling up so he's tucked against his chest.

"Once or twice," Tony copies, but even as he glares lightly at Silas he snuggles closer, one leg thrown over the other mans. "Not my fault you're comfy as all hell."

Silas hummed and held onto Tony's leg, his other hand combing the jet black hair away from his eyes. "Well, I'm glad I can help you get comfortable." He whispered softly, kissing his cheek. "Just try and get some sleep. You look like you need it."

"Oh, shush," Tony complains, but he does shiver comfortably under the hand in his hair. His secret weakness, honestly. And his eyes do sttart to drift closed, his breathing steadying.

Silas watched him begin to drift off. His thumb gently stroked against Tony's cheekbone as he admired him. "I'll be here when you wake, don't worry." He reassured in a whisper. After a couple of hours, Silas still hadn't moved and had continued to hold Tony close to his chest. The prince had watched over him whilst he napped, not once moving in case he disturbed Tony.

Tony falls into a more peaceful sleep then he htinks he's had in months. Which isn't surprising. He's always slept better when he's next to someone else, especially someone he lov- nope, not going there.

Silas gently guided his finger across Tony's features, tracing them delicately. He adored Tony, but knew that the inventor struggled with letting people in or even letting himself open up to people. Silas was scared he had let himself fall for someone who wasn't ever going to love him back.

Tony did love him, even if he struggled to admit it, even to himself. He was just scared. Letting people in had only ever ended in hurt. Sunset, Ty, Obadiah. He wasn't sure he could love someone again without being used, even if he wanted more than anything to do so.

Silas would never dream of using Tony. He had made that abundantly clear from the early days of their relationship. However, he understood Tony's hesitancy. The prince held him a little tighter, wanting to protect Tony from feeling that way.

It's a few hours before Tony wakes, still curled up against Silas though perhaps slightly less entangled. "Mm... hi.." he mumbles, voice still thick with sleep.

Silas chuckled. "Hi. How'd you sleep?" He asked softly, gently moving his fingers across his forehead to brush any unruly hair back into it's normal resting place. "Does that feel better now that you've slept?"

Tony stretches, much like a cat, and then settles back against him. His hair is always it's fluffy and curliest when he wakes. "...of course it does," he admits grudgingly.

"Good." Silas hummed. "Now, maybe I can persuade you to get in the shower whilst I make dinner?" The prince suggested, his fingers combing through his fluffy, curly hair.

"You can't remember the last time you ate, can you?" Silas teased before rubbing his back, just admiring how handsome Tony was laying beside him. He wasn't surprised by Tony inability to remember if he'd eaten.

Tony blushes ever so slightly at how easily Silas reads him, and then shrugs. "Food is overrated,' he declares, which is definitely a yes and they both know it.

Silas stood up, a smile on the prince's lips as he very easily lifted Tony off the bed and walking to the bathroom. "Get a shower and I'll have food ready by the time you are done." Silas chuckled and carefully placed Tony back down on his feet.

"Sir, yes sir," Tony murmurs teasingly. He mock-salutes before pulling off his shirt and starting to get ready to shower. He gives Silas a soft look before he leaves.

Tony showers quickly, and then rejoins Silas downstairs. His mouth waters at the smell of the Jasarian dish. "Fuck, Si. Smells delicious... god."

Silas chuckled. "Good to see I'm making it right, I always get a little confused." He explained with a hum. He stirred a pot and looked at Tony. "How was your shower?"

"It smells incredible," Tony promises, coming to lean heavily against Silas. "It was good. Definitely woke me up."

Silas wrapped an arm around Tony and held him close. "Good. You look brighter." He spoke softly, leaning down to plant a kiss on his forehead. "And you smell less like motor oil." Silas teased.

Tony drapes his arms over Silas' shoulders with a fond smile. He can't believe how domestic he's being, honestly. "Well, that's probably a good thing, hm?"

"A very good thing." Silas hummed whilst pressing a gentle kiss on Tony's lips. "Although, perhaps I am a little partial to the motor oil smell." Silas teased before kissing his cheek.

Tony rolls his eyes, "I know you are," he teases, thinking back to the many times Silas had come down to drag him out of the lab only for them not to leave at all.

"Watching you work is rather fascinating." Silas hummed whilst flipping over chicken in his frying pan. "But perhaps you and I could just have a quiet movie night?" He suggested.

Rex Myers stepped out of the yellow taxi cab at the front of Stark Tower. For once, he hadn't been the one seeking out employment, employment had sought him out. Tony Stark and his wife, Pepper, were going travelling to promote the expansion of Stark Indistries as a global enterprise and neither were comfortable with leaving their teenage son at home alone.

Enter Rex Myers, immortal knight born more than 700 years ago and possessing magical abilities never seen before. Not that Rex really thought much of his magical abilities, they were just something he had been taught, something quite literally inked into his skin. He hummed to himself before stepping inside and riding the elevator up to the penthouse suite.

When the doors opened, he was instantly greeted by the surprised face of his new charge. "Good morning." Rex greeted with a warm smile.

Peter stares back at the man, scrambling to stand up from his place on the couch. He'd been told that someone's going to be watching him while his parents are away, but he'd assumed it'll be someone like Natasha or Bruce, maybe Clint if he's in town. He's got no clue why this man would be here.

"Who the hell are you?" Peter swallows, trying not to look startled or afraid but definitely looking a little bit of both. "How'd you get in here?"

Rex had assumed Tony might have told Peter about him, but he has assumed wrong. He would deal with that later. Rex placed his duffel bag down and showed Peter he had a key. "Your father gave me a key. "My name is Rex, your father asked me to watch over you whilst he and your mother are away." Rex explained, taking a few steps towards Peter.

"I'm sorry for startling you. I assumed your father might have told you I was the one he had chosen." Rex chuckled, twisting his sapphire ring around his finger a few times. "Have you eaten?"

Peter looks at the duffle bag, then at the key. He suppresses a groan as he raises his head to Rex's face again. "He hired a babysitter?" His face is caught somewhere between mildly annoyed and stunned.

"It's okay. No, he didn't. I mean, he said he was going to have someone come check up on me, but I assumed he meant Nat or someone." He fidgets nervously with a thin silver web shooter on his wrist. "Uh, no. I was about to go to Delmar's for a sandwich."

"I prefer the term bodyguard." Rex mentioned with a small smile. "And I don't want you to feel babysat. You seem quite capable, if a little young." The older man mused whilst adjusting the cuffs of his shirt.

Rex studied Peter for a moment. "Well, I was going to head to the grocery store for ingredients to make calzones if you want one of those?" Rex offered to Peter with a small smile. Rex was half Italian, so a lot of his cooking came from that side of his culture.

"Spidey doesn't need a bodyguard..." Peter mutters under his breath, but becomes less hostile when Rex says he seems capable.

He tilts his head to one side, just slightly, when Rex mentions calzones. He loves Italian food. "...calzones sound good." He returns the small smile.

"Your father seemed to disagree." He chuckled before picking up his duffel bag again, placing it on the glass dining room table this time. Rex plucked out his wallet and slipped it into the pocket of his jeans. "Come on then. You can accompany me to the grocery store and I can learn more about you." Rex said as he began crossing the room towards the elevator again.

A faint cyan glow pulsed beneath his shirt, coming from the arcane tattoos he had been plastered with since he was 8 years old. "Anything in particular I should know about you?"

"Shit, you heard that... Uh, that's classified information which is probably in whatever contract my dad made you sign." Peter picks up his phone and wallet from the coffee table and follows Rex.

He startles slightly at the glow pulsing under Rex's shirt. "Your... Your chest is glowing. That's more important than anything I have to say." He looks at Rex's face. "Is it supposed to do that or do I need to prep the medbay?"

Rex paused and looked down at his chest before looking at Peter. He shook his head. "No, that's very normal for me." He explained as he lifted up his shirt to reveal the tattoos glowing. "They do that. Just part of being able to do arcane magic I suppose." He chuckled as if this was the most casual thing on the planet.

"And your father did explain everything to me about your double life. Your secret is safe with me." Rex pat Peter's shoulder before stepping into the elevator with a hum.

Peter blinks a few times at the tattoos. "Uh... Arcane magic?" He follows Rex into the elevator, fidgeting with his web shooter again as he raises an eyebrow. He knows about Asgardian magic and whatever Stephen's got, but he's not heard of arcane magic.

Rex nodded. "My father taught me when I was very young. Thought it would give me an advantage in training to be a knight." Rex explained to Peter whilst pressing a button on the elevator to go back down to the first floor. "I suppose your father didn't mention I am slightly older than I appear, did he?" Rex smiled at Peter.

Peter blinks at Rex more, leaning against the elevator wall. "A knight? Like, a knight-knight?"

He squints at him, silently cursing his dad for not saying anything about this man. "How old are you, exactly?"

"Yes. A knight-knight." Rex answered whilst checking his old gold pocket watch. "I was born in 1373 in Scotland before being raised between there and Italy as a child." Rex explained. "I was five when I learned I was immortal after almost drowning on a fishing trip with my father." He added before stepping out of the elevator when the doors opened.

Peter stares at the pocket watch for a moment, considering the likelihood of Rex telling the truth. There's no reason for him to lie, so Peter considers those chances pretty good. "You almost drowned? You're immortal?" He follows Rex out of the elevator, darting around the people in the lobby in a well-practiced method as he walks out to the street.

Rex nodded. "I am immortal." He hummed softly as he moved through the crowds of the lobby with ease. "Like I said, I was born in 1373, so I've been around for a little while." He smiled at the teenager. "I don't bite, you can ask questions."

Peter nods. "Okay, yeah, I've got a ton. One: what's arcane magic?" He looks up at Rex with a curious expression.

Rex chuckled. He should have seen that one coming first. "Arcane magic has some connection to the core elements." He hummed. "Although, usually involves a lot of runes and ancient symbols." Rex explained whilst rolling up his sleeves. "This magic is connected to me through these markings on my skin. They fuel my power."

"That's so cool!" Peter stares at the markings for a moment before looking at Rex again. "What's being immortal like?"

"It's an interesting thing." He hummed softly. "It can be rather... Jarring at first, but you do get used to that feeling after a few hundred years of life." Rex hummed softly.

"Jarring." Peter tilts his head at Rex with furrowed eyebrows as they walk towards the grocery store. "Do you scar? Since you're immortal, I mean. I don't because of my healing factor, but... can you still get hurt?"

Rex nodded. "Yes. I can still be injured, I still bleed and scar." He explained as he walked with Peter. "I just never die because of those injuries, but I will always be left with the reminder of what I put myself through."

Rex chuckled. "Life as a knight was something..." He smiled and looked at his sapphire ring again. "I've had a few swords sliced through my abdomen. Many thought I was cursed when I would just continue fighting."

Peter's jaw gapes a little. "Wow. That had to hurt. I haven't dealt with sword injuries before, but stab wounds suck." He nods to the grocery store. "That one?"

Rex chuckled. "They're definitely not pleasant." He hummed and nodded at the grocery store. "Yes, that one will do as long as I can get what I need for dough." He hummed, fully intending to make these calzones from scratch.

Rex chuckled. "Of course. It's easy enough to do." He hummed to himself before beginning to wander the aisles. "So, what about you? What should I know about you?"

Peter thinks for a moment, unsure of what's important. Rex already knows the triple-life thing, so what else is there? What do regular people tell others about themselves?

"Uh, I've got a boyfriend?" He offers. It's his go-to for the rare occasions where he's got nothing to say. "His name's Harley. He might show up at the penthouse at some point seeing as he lives at the tower, so it's probably important that you know about him."

Rex's fingertips glowed cyan before a carton of eggs floated into the cart. "A boyfriend." He hummed as he thought of how to deal with the idea of guarding two boys. "I'm sure he's a good kid, just like you." Rex mentioned whilst using his powers to gather up more ingredients he needed.

"As long as you tell me when he's coming over, then I have no objections." Rex added with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Pick what you want for your calzone."

Whether or not Harley's a good kid has been heavily debated for years, but Peter nods with a small smile. "Thanks, I'll tell him to give us some advanced notice."

He reaches for the ham and ricotta cheese and puts them in the cart. "So... Do you have any questions for me? I'm kinda out of important things." He laughs softly.

Rex glanced at Peter. "Well, maybe we should start with your schedule? Things you do regularly that I may need to accompany you or collect you from afterwards." Rex inquired as he continued to float things into the cart.

Peter nods. "Right, right. Uh... Well, there's school. Happy would usually pick me up, but he's with my parents. I don't have an Aca Deca meet soon and I can get to and from my friend, Ned's place on my own."

He watches as Rex floats the items into the cart. "You're not worried about doing that in public? I mean, it's cool and all, but there's, like, HYDRA and stuff."

Rex nodded, making note of Peter's schedule. Tony had mentioned school times and where the car keys were kept. It would take some time getting used to taking care of a teenager again, it had been a long while since he'd done it.

"I've already knocked back SHIELD when Fury came looking for me. HYDRA don't particularly scare me after my war time escapades." Rex hummed. "My powers are a part of me that I don't wish to hide." He hummed softly.

"That's... That's cool." Peter tilts his head to one side. "Wait, Director Fury went looking for you?"

Rex nodded. "Wanted me to join SHIELD and whatever little pet project he was working on that time." He explained. "I wasn't interested."

"Oh, yeah. He and I have a... complicated relationship, too." Peter chuckles. "I've screened his calls a few too many times, and my Avengers promotion was, well, sort of unorthodox. What kind of project was he looking for you for?"

Rex shrugged. "Have no idea. He never told me and I wasn't interested enough to pursue it." Rex chuckled before looking at Peter. "So, your parents actually allow you to fight alongside the Avengers? Doesn't that terrify them?"

Peter shrugs. "It does, moreso my dad than my mom. I swear I give him a heart attack every time I go on a mission with them, but he's fine with it as long as he's there. He's the one who made me an Avenger, actually."

Rex nodded with a chuckle. "Sounds like a very Tony thing to do." He snorted softly as he grabbed a few more bits and pieces. Not necessarily ingredients, turns out the knight has quite the sweet tooth.

"It is." Peter laughs, looking at the cart. "Do you want me to go find anything else?"

Rex hummed. "Cola." He said after a brief moment of thought. "It's rather refreshing, although I do think it is better in a glass bottle than those silly cans." Rex chuckled.

Peter snorts gently. "Okay, I'll go get it!" He leaves and comes back with the drinks, setting it in the cart. "Is that everything?"

"I am." Peter points at the grocery bags with a smile. "I can take those." He likes being helpful, and it's second nature to offer to carry bags for people.

Peter nods, walking next to Rex as they go back to the tower. "Uh, yeah, I am. I'm stronger in math and science, but I've got a knack for languages too. I love chemistry and engineering the most of the sciences, but I still use physics a lot to calculate the arc of my swings! Are you into science at all?"

Rex smiled when Peter lit up at the talk of his interests. "Science? Oh, well, I was never excited by sciences." He explained. "Although I did enjoy biology and I did enjoy zoology when I studied that."

Peter lights up even more at this. "Really? Zoology's really cool! I'm into animal sciences well enough since I've learned, like, almost everything people know about spiders, and I was big into marine biology for a while." He tilts his head to one side, curious. "How'd you end up studying it?"

Rex hummed. "I had a rather interesting encounter with a lion and it fascinated me, so I decided to begin studying. Took a few trips to different parts of the world, found out I was pretty good with animals of all shapes and sizes." Rex explained. "Reared a couple of baby ones too."

Peter stares back at the man, scrambling to stand up from his place on the couch. He'd been told that someone's going to be watching him while his parents are away, but he'd assumed it'll be someone like Natasha or Bruce, maybe Clint if he's in town. He's got no clue why this man would be here.

"Who the hell are you?" Peter swallows, trying not to look startled or afraid but definitely looking a little bit of both. "How'd you get in here?"

Rex had assumed Tony might have told Peter about him, but he has assumed wrong. He would deal with that later. Rex placed his duffel bag down and showed Peter he had a key. "Your father gave me a key. "My name is Rex, your father asked me to watch over you whilst he and your mother are away." Rex explained, taking a few steps towards Peter.

"I'm sorry for startling you. I assumed your father might have told you I was the one he had chosen." Rex chuckled, twisting his sapphire ring around his finger a few times. "Have you eaten?"

Peter looks at the duffle bag, then at the key. He suppresses a groan as he raises his head to Rex's face again. "He hired a babysitter?" His face is caught somewhere between mildly annoyed and stunned.

"It's okay. No, he didn't. I mean, he said he was going to have someone come check up on me, but I assumed he meant Nat or someone." He fidgets nervously with a thin silver web shooter on his wrist. "Uh, no. I was about to go to Delmar's for a sandwich."

"I prefer the term bodyguard." Rex mentioned with a small smile. "And I don't want you to feel babysat. You seem quite capable, if a little young." The older man mused whilst adjusting the cuffs of his shirt.

Rex studied Peter for a moment. "Well, I was going to head to the grocery store for ingredients to make calzones if you want one of those?" Rex offered to Peter with a small smile. Rex was half Italian, so a lot of his cooking came from that side of his culture.

"Spidey doesn't need a bodyguard..." Peter mutters under his breath, but becomes less hostile when Rex says he seems capable.

He tilts his head to one side, just slightly, when Rex mentions calzones. He loves Italian food. "...calzones sound good." He returns the small smile.

"Your father seemed to disagree." He chuckled before picking up his duffel bag again, placing it on the glass dining room table this time. Rex plucked out his wallet and slipped it into the pocket of his jeans. "Come on then. You can accompany me to the grocery store and I can learn more about you." Rex said as he began crossing the room towards the elevator again.

A faint cyan glow pulsed beneath his shirt, coming from the arcane tattoos he had been plastered with since he was 8 years old. "Anything in particular I should know about you?"

"Shit, you heard that... Uh, that's classified information which is probably in whatever contract my dad made you sign." Peter picks up his phone and wallet from the coffee table and follows Rex.

He startles slightly at the glow pulsing under Rex's shirt. "Your... Your chest is glowing. That's more important than anything I have to say." He looks at Rex's face. "Is it supposed to do that or do I need to prep the medbay?"

Rex paused and looked down at his chest before looking at Peter. He shook his head. "No, that's very normal for me." He explained as he lifted up his shirt to reveal the tattoos glowing. "They do that. Just part of being able to do arcane magic I suppose." He chuckled as if this was the most casual thing on the planet.

"And your father did explain everything to me about your double life. Your secret is safe with me." Rex pat Peter's shoulder before stepping into the elevator with a hum.

Peter blinks a few times at the tattoos. "Uh... Arcane magic?" He follows Rex into the elevator, fidgeting with his web shooter again as he raises an eyebrow. He knows about Asgardian magic and whatever Stephen's got, but he's not heard of arcane magic.

Rex nodded. "My father taught me when I was very young. Thought it would give me an advantage in training to be a knight." Rex explained to Peter whilst pressing a button on the elevator to go back down to the first floor. "I suppose your father didn't mention I am slightly older than I appear, did he?" Rex smiled at Peter.

Peter blinks at Rex more, leaning against the elevator wall. "A knight? Like, a knight-knight?"

He squints at him, silently cursing his dad for not saying anything about this man. "How old are you, exactly?"

"Yes. A knight-knight." Rex answered whilst checking his old gold pocket watch. "I was born in 1373 in Scotland before being raised between there and Italy as a child." Rex explained. "I was five when I learned I was immortal after almost drowning on a fishing trip with my father." He added before stepping out of the elevator when the doors opened.

Peter stares at the pocket watch for a moment, considering the likelihood of Rex telling the truth. There's no reason for him to lie, so Peter considers those chances pretty good. "You almost drowned? You're immortal?" He follows Rex out of the elevator, darting around the people in the lobby in a well-practiced method as he walks out to the street.

Rex nodded. "I am immortal." He hummed softly as he moved through the crowds of the lobby with ease. "Like I said, I was born in 1373, so I've been around for a little while." He smiled at the teenager. "I don't bite, you can ask questions."

Peter nods. "Okay, yeah, I've got a ton. One: what's arcane magic?" He looks up at Rex with a curious expression.

Rex chuckled. He should have seen that one coming first. "Arcane magic has some connection to the core elements." He hummed. "Although, usually involves a lot of runes and ancient symbols." Rex explained whilst rolling up his sleeves. "This magic is connected to me through these markings on my skin. They fuel my power."

"That's so cool!" Peter stares at the markings for a moment before looking at Rex again. "What's being immortal like?"

"It's an interesting thing." He hummed softly. "It can be rather... Jarring at first, but you do get used to that feeling after a few hundred years of life." Rex hummed softly.

"Jarring." Peter tilts his head at Rex with furrowed eyebrows as they walk towards the grocery store. "Do you scar? Since you're immortal, I mean. I don't because of my healing factor, but... can you still get hurt?"

Rex nodded. "Yes. I can still be injured, I still bleed and scar." He explained as he walked with Peter. "I just never die because of those injuries, but I will always be left with the reminder of what I put myself through."

Rex chuckled. "Life as a knight was something..." He smiled and looked at his sapphire ring again. "I've had a few swords sliced through my abdomen. Many thought I was cursed when I would just continue fighting."

Peter's jaw gapes a little. "Wow. That had to hurt. I haven't dealt with sword injuries before, but stab wounds suck." He nods to the grocery store. "That one?"

"Uh, I've got a boyfriend?" He offers. It's his go-to for the rare occasions where he's got nothing to say. "His name's Harley. He might show up at the penthouse at some point seeing as he lives at the tower, so it's probably important that you know about him."

Rex's fingertips glowed cyan before a carton of eggs floated into the cart. "A boyfriend." He hummed as he thought of how to deal with the idea of guarding two boys. "I'm sure he's a good kid, just like you." Rex mentioned whilst using his powers to gather up more ingredients he needed.

"As long as you tell me when he's coming over, then I have no objections." Rex added with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Pick what you want for your calzone."

Peter nods. "Right, right. Uh... Well, there's school. Happy would usually pick me up, but he's with my parents. I don't have an Aca Deca meet soon and I can get to and from my friend, Ned's place on my own."

He watches as Rex floats the items into the cart. "You're not worried about doing that in public? I mean, it's cool and all, but there's, like, HYDRA and stuff."

Rex nodded, making note of Peter's schedule. Tony had mentioned school times and where the car keys were kept. It would take some time getting used to taking care of a teenager again, it had been a long while since he'd done it.

"I've already knocked back SHIELD when Fury came looking for me. HYDRA don't particularly scare me after my war time escapades." Rex hummed. "My powers are a part of me that I don't wish to hide." He hummed softly.

"That's... That's cool." Peter tilts his head to one side. "Wait, Director Fury went looking for you?"

Rex nodded. "Wanted me to join SHIELD and whatever little pet project he was working on that time." He explained. "I wasn't interested."

"Oh, yeah. He and I have a... complicated relationship, too." Peter chuckles. "I've screened his calls a few too many times, and my Avengers promotion was, well, sort of unorthodox. What kind of project was he looking for you for?"

Rex shrugged. "Have no idea. He never told me and I wasn't interested enough to pursue it." Rex chuckled before looking at Peter. "So, your parents actually allow you to fight alongside the Avengers? Doesn't that terrify them?"

Peter shrugs. "It does, moreso my dad than my mom. I swear I give him a heart attack every time I go on a mission with them, but he's fine with it as long as he's there. He's the one who made me an Avenger, actually."

Rex nodded with a chuckle. "Sounds like a very Tony thing to do." He snorted softly as he grabbed a few more bits and pieces. Not necessarily ingredients, turns out the knight has quite the sweet tooth.

Peter snorts gently. "Okay, I'll go get it!" He leaves and comes back with the drinks, setting it in the cart. "Is that everything?"

I love chemistry and engineering the most of the sciences, but I still use physics a lot to calculate the arc of my swings! Are you into science at all?"

Rex smiled when Peter lit up at the talk of his interests. "Science? Oh, well, I was never excited by sciences." He explained. "Although I did enjoy biology and I did enjoy zoology when I studied that."

Peter lights up even more at this. "Really? Zoology's really cool! I'm into animal sciences well enough since I've learned, like, almost everything people know about spiders, and I was big into marine biology for a while." He tilts his head to one side, curious. "How'd you end up studying it?"

Rex hummed. "I had a rather interesting encounter with a lion and it fascinated me, so I decided to begin studying. Took a few trips to different parts of the world, found out I was pretty good with animals of all shapes and sizes." Rex explained. "Reared a couple of baby ones too."

Peter shrugs. "It does, moreso my dad than my mom. I swear I give him a heart attack every time I go on a mission with them, but he's fine with it as long as he's there. He's the one who made me an Avenger, actually."

Rex nodded with a chuckle. "Sounds like a very Tony thing to do." He snorted softly as he grabbed a few more bits and pieces. Not necessarily ingredients, turns out the knight has quite the sweet tooth.

"It is." Peter laughs, looking at the cart. "Do you want me to go find anything else?"

Rex hummed. "Cola." He said after a brief moment of thought. "It's rather refreshing, although I do think it is better in a glass bottle than those silly cans." Rex chuckled.

Peter snorts gently. "Okay, I'll go get it!" He leaves and comes back with the drinks, setting it in the cart. "Is that everything?"

Rex nodded. "I think so. I got enough ingredients to keep us both well fed for the week. You ever made your own pasta?" He asked Peter as he walked towards the cashier.

Peter shakes his head with a smile. "Nope, but I'd love to try!" He follows Rex to the cashier, pulling his dad's card out of his wallet.

Rex stopped Peter and took out his own wallet. "Let me handle it." He spoke softly and smiled at him. "And I'm very happy to teach you how to make pasta. It's very simple."

Peter raises an eyebrow, but puts his wallet away. "That sounds great, thank you. I'm not exactly a good cook, but I can bake pretty decently."

"Well, I suppose we'll have to put that to the test." He chuckled with a small smile as he paid for their groceries. "If you couldn't tell, I have quite the sweet tooth."

"Yeah, I noticed." Peter chuckles. "Nat's taught me some really good cookie recipes. Maybe I'll make them tomorrow!"

Rex smiled. He liked seeing this side of Peter, the happy-go-lucky side of things. Rex paid for everything and picked up the grocery bags. "Come on. You must be starving."

"I am." Peter points at the grocery bags with a smile. "I can take those." He likes being helpful, and it's second nature to offer to carry bags for people.

"Alright." Rex smiled at him and they began the walk back to the tower. "So, your father mentioned you were particularly gifted?" He metioned.

Peter nods, walking next to Rex as they go back to the tower. "Uh, yeah, I am. I'm stronger in math and science, but I've got a knack for languages too. I love chemistry and engineering the most of the sciences, but I still use physics a lot to calculate the arc of my swings! Are you into science at all?"

[roanokesilas]

Rex smiled when Peter lit up at the talk of his interests. "Science? Oh, well, I was never excited by sciences." He explained. "Although I did enjoy biology and I did enjoy zoology when I studied that."

Peter lights up even more at this. "Really? Zoology's really cool! I'm into animal sciences well enough since I've learned, like, almost everything people know about spiders, and I was big into marine biology for a while." He tilts his head to one side, curious. "How'd you end up studying it?"

Rex hummed. "I had a rather interesting encounter with a lion and it fascinated me, so I decided to begin studying. Took a few trips to different parts of the world, found out I was pretty good with animals of all shapes and sizes." Rex explained. "Reared a couple of baby ones too."

Peter's eyes widen with interest. "You reared baby lions? What was that like?"

"It was exciting." Rex smiled. "I still do it occasionally when I have the time." He hummed softly and looked at Peter. "Maybe I can see about you meeting some."

Peter nods enthusiastically. "Yes, please!" He bounces on his toes a bit as they continue on towards the tower, which is getting quite close.

Rex smiled. "I'll see if I can arrange something when you have time off." He hummed softly. "I'm sure you'll enjoy it, although you gotta watch their teeth."
