ok but if i’m allowed to be angry over a #Special Interest for a moment, I am still so angry at game freak for consistently making meowth as a species stand on two legs in the game. like i know i mention this once a month but i’M SO ANGRY ABOUT IT LIKE. okay, i get it, meowth is probably the second most iconic pokemon right after pikachu because they’re foils in the anime. so you want your meowth to look like team rocket’s meowth in order to preserve that iconicness. but when u do that, gamefreak, you are literally erasing said iconic meowth’s entire characterization!!!

TEAM ROCKET’S MEOWTH HAD TO LEARN THESE THINGS. meowth’s humankin ass worked so fucking hard to manage that bipedal, chatty life. it just feels so unfair to him to make bipedal meowth seem like a natural thing when the whole point was that he was pushing himself to limits no pokemon had ever pushed themselves to before–
he did this for love, he did this because the girl he was head over heels for told him that he didn’t matter if he wasn’t a human who could pamper and love her with money and luxury–
even tho this shit LITERALLY made his life harder for a while because he was living a street life and couldn’t keep up with his comrades
and what was the result of all this shit?
the girl he loved, the girl he changed his instincts for, she literally called him a freak and told him she’d never be seen with someone like him. all that struggle, all that hardship only for rejection, and my boy meowth owned that shit–he fought through his heartbreak and refused to change again, because walking and talking was incredible, he was incredible, and the world needed to see the amazing things he’d done.
ever wonder why team rocket’s meowth is so weak, seemingly only knows two attacks tops, can’t even learn payday? he’s mentioned it before–it’s because he used up two of his fucking moveslots to walk and talk.
so i visibly cringe every time i think about the fact that bipedal meowths are such a Thing now? what was the point of all this, yknow? what was the point of showing this one meowth’s struggle and the feats he achieved when any meowth can achieve one of them naturally?

well friend, as someone who spent months marathoning all 900+ episodes of the pokemon anime at once, i can tell you that the games & anime have been intersecting a bit lately. there’s rumours of ash-greninja in sun & moon, a pokemon that cannot feasibly exist without… well, ash. if ash greninja does make a last second appearance in the games, that means the protagonist of the anime literally exists in the game world.
