Me: This is my first listen, I should just be chill and vibe with the song.
Also me:

Can you rank Muse's albums?
Okay so first off: this may be the most biased list of all time but this is how I would rank them based on how objectively good they are, not necessarily my preference. All album rankings are flawed but mine more so than others.
Absolution: Most consistent in sound. There is a reason Muse fans love it so much and Muse didn’t change much on the XX Anniversary version and that reason is because it is flawless.
Origin of Symmetry: This album is raw and it’s fun. The guitar riffs a great, the drum fills are energetic, and the bass is such a centerpiece. Megalomania by itself is a masterpiece, but even the bonus track (Futurism) is incredible.
Black Holes and Revelations: Has some of the best individual songs but it can feel a little inconsistent at times. Really good, just a little overrated.
Simulation Theory: Takes a theme and runs with it. Muse’s most committed album to the vibe. Go big or go home, and Muse went big. I can respect that. This is my most likely biased take as I am a big fan of 80s synthpop.
The Second Law: In terms of consistent themes the Second Law is in the gold standard. It gets a lot of hate for being experimental, but when it is experimental it rarely misses. One or two songs aren’t of the same quality, but the rest of the album makes up for it.
Will of the People: I LOVE WOTP. Some of my favorite songs are on WOTP. Unfortunately it just isn’t the most consistent in sound. Muse made this as a greatest sounds album—a substitute to a greatest hits album and unfortunately sometimes it feels like that. Would have been higher if the transitions weren’t so jarring.
Drones: Drones isn’t technically short with it’s interstitials but it feels it. The first half of the album doesn’t feel the same as the second half. It is a concept album that seems a bit scattered in its storytelling. I’m still not sure if I feel that Aftermath should really be placed before or after the Globalist. Despite this, the instrumentation is solid.
The Resistance: I don’t know what it is, but it just doesn’t do it for me as much as it used to. It suffers from being too short in the way that Drones and Absolution suffer from being too long. It needs more songs prior to Exogenisis, otherwise the album feels unfinished. It used to be my favorite album tho.
Showbiz: Showbiz my beloved. You don’t deserve this. If this was a favorite albums ranking I would display it differently, as I believe this album has the most raw emotion present. Unfortunately it is based off of the album quality and to most, Showbiz can feel unfinished or not completely polished. It is mostly felt through the latter half of the album. In this it is clear that Showbiz is Muse’s first LP.
Cryogen sounds like every era of Muse happening at once which is fire
Finally found the reference for my favorite poster!
Loved it so much that I had to sketch it twice! Here is the second attempt.
Used the image as a backdrop for the sketch layer and default Krita colors as the hues. Difficult due to the low quality (pixelation) of the original image. Colors all on single layer as to simulate traditional painting with an underpainting. 5+ hours.

Showbiz fans waiting for an anniversary edition of Showbiz:
Maybe we’ll get it in 2029?
Currently in my (fifth) Showbiz era
#yooo in what way!? #i’m not a vinyl guy so i didn’t buy it
It’s mostly just the mixing but you can tell that they are different recorded parts for each. Overdue is grungier and has louder background vocals from Chris plus a different bridge. Cave has some new background instrumentation too. For both the drum and bass lines are louder and the audio is crisper.
Does anyone know if the version of the Muscle Museum EP for RSD 2026 containing Instant Messenger has the “You’ve Got Mail?” voice or is it Pink Ego Box instead? It would be incredible to get my hands on the og version.
seemingly Pink Ego Box, the backside was posted on my local record store's insta today
Answered my question but am now sad
It’s Instant Messenger!
