i was talking to one of my close friends about frankenstein 2025 cuz we are both insane about that movie and i was hit with a major realization in the middle of that convo that i dont think ive seen anyone online talk about before?? (if they have please show me i love literature)

also here me out on this cuz this might be bonkers bananas insane

we know the story gilgamesh, how enkidu was a man made out of clay and lived in the forest surrounded by animals and was born without sin who was then forced to be made into a man from a creature by gilgamesh sending a lady to seduce enkidu (i hope you see where im going with this)

i see parallels to this in frankenstein 2025 BUT in a different way with a different sin

i mean we know the creature is a pure and sinless creature just shown in how he can hand feed the elk in the forest, they have no fear for him because he has no wrong in his heart

its not until he embraces the sin of rage and hate that he becomes more like man, forced by those around him

and no i dont see elizabeth as a stand in for the temptress in gilgamesh ✋ tbh i see no romance between the creature and elizabeth in that movie but thats a whole other discussion

i just think its interesting how this small theme can crop up again hundreds of years later
