Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
Psalm 120:6-7
Plus, Brent Jones hits the Gospel Airplay top 10.
Demon Hunter's simultaneous album releases, War and its softer-leaning companion, Peace, each enter Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart in the top five.
War starts at No. 2 on the March 16-dated tally, matching the Seattle-based Christian hard rock band's best rank, earning 13,000 equivalent album units in its first week, ending March 7, according to Nielsen Music. Concurrently, Peace starts at No. 3 (12,000 units).
War concurrently debuts at No. 4 on Hard Rock Albums and No. 8 on Top Rock Albums, while Peace opens at Nos. 5 and 11 on the lists, respectively.
Demon Hunter ups its count to eight Top Christian Albums top 10s, with all having debuted in the upper tier. War marks the group's fifth album to start at No. 2. Its 2017 set Outlive opened at No. 2 in with 19,000 units, the band's best weekly sum. Demon Hunter first reached the top 10 with its second entry, The Triptych, which entered at its No. 10 peak in 2005. The band first charted in 2004 with Summer of Darkness, which began at its No. 23 high.
Highlands Worship banks its second Top Christian Albums top 10, as Jesus You Alone enters at No. 4 with 10,000 units, marking its biggest week to date. The set is the third entry for the musical wing of the Birmingham, Alabama-based Church of the Highlands. Its first, Place of Freedom, brought its highest rank (No. 3, 2012). Here I Surrender followed, debuting at its No. 23 best in 2016.
Plus, Brent Jones logs his first Gospel Airplay top 10 as his second charted title, "Open Your Mouth and Say Something," rises 12-9. It follows "He Rose," which reached No. 17 in 2015.
jabberjawmedia: Ryan Clark from DEMON HUNTER joins @shanetold on The @leadsingersyndrome podcast this week!
LISTEN NOW: here or here.
Demon Hunter frontman Ryan Clark joins the show! A band that rarely tours, yet has one of the most rabid fan bases out there, I've been intrigued and wanted to pick Ryan's brain for a long time. We talk about his early years growing up in a Christian household ("I had to hide my Slayer CD's under my bed"), his extremely successful design career (he's worked with everyone from NASA to Lego), designing all the classic "scene" album covers in the mid 2000's, and the bands bond with (and fandom within) the US Military.
Friendly note: it starts at 06:25.
